Tonight at my oldest son's baseball game the normal catcher was playing third base due to some injuries at other positions. The boy took a hard line drive to his right eye. The hit broke his glasses and knocked him flat on the field. He was rushed to the ER with blood running everywhere. The last update we got was he was transferred to a larger hospital (Scott & White in Temple Texas) with a probably skull fracture, concussion, and possibly some type of permanent damage to his eye. The local doctor said it was a serious injury with surgery very possible as well as ICU.

If you would please keep Will and his family in your prayers.

Thank You,
Les

Gentlemen,

I got an update about 5 minutes ago. Will has a cut on his eye that the doctors are not sure yet how it will effect his vision. He also has a partially crushed oribital socket that will require surgery. Nothing can be done yet until the massive swelling goes down some. Please keep him and his family in your prayers and I will keep you all updated on his condition as soon as I hear anything.

Thank You,
Les

Gentlemen,

Here is the latest update on Will's injuries. He has a cut on his cornea, blood covering his iris and some nerve damage. The doctor told his mom that it is possible that he could lose some or all of the vision in his right eye. He has a concussion and will be on bed rest for the next few weeks as he has no balance at this time and can't walk without assistance. The orbital socket will have to be reconstructed. He did get to go home tonight and is resting better. Please keep him in your prayers for a speedy and full healing. It looks like this might be a long process but I pray it's not.

Definitely prayers on the way....

that happened to me in college... being a military dependent, I had some friends drive me to So Weymouth Naval Air Station, which transferred me to Chelsea Naval Hospital in Boston...

my eyes were kept covered and I was HEAVILY sedated for 2 plus weeks....the doctor was concerned I would lose the eye..
( I didn't suffer a skull fracture )...

but ever since that ( I was 20 years old, playing softball on the school team), I have had depth perception issues...

Gentlemen,

Here's the latest on Will's condition. He ended up with a torn retina, the eye doctor said the condition is inoperable and his vision will not recover in his right eye. Eyeball here at the fire recommended a local retina specialist that Will's mom is trying to get him in to see for a second opinion. He can only see shapes and colors in his eye at this time.

He is still facing surgery in the next few days for the damage to his orbital socket. He is also still waiting to see how the nerve damage in the eye effects him as well.

Gophergunner is graciously helping Will and his family with a replacement pair of glasses.

We're continuing to hope and pray for a miracle for this young man. I ask if you would to keep Will and his family in your prayers.

Finally, while I should have asked their permission to mention their help as I know they were not looking for any recognition my family and I, as well as Will and his family want to give are heart felt thanks to Gophergunner and Eyeball for their very kind help. God Bless you both Gentlemen, I am indebted to you both. I hope I am in someway able to repay your kindness.

Les

I agree with that prayer.
So sorry to have heard of this disaster of an occurrence and praying the docs at Austin Retina can do something for him, LBP.

Ditto from here..
Jeeze, I hate to see that. As a father of a 3rd baseman, and a ball coache myself, I consider myself lucky we've not had any major injuries to one of our kids yet. I hope he recovers quickly. Prayers from the north for the young man.
Prayers sent! Hope all is well.
Thank you for sharing Les. I have held Will and his family up before the Lord. Please keep us informed.

Well things didn't work out for the best, although things could have been much worse. Will is legally blind in his right eye. He can still see colors and shapes but no real vision in the eye. Now he starts the process of adjusting to the change.

I really appreciate the prayers from everyone.

Thank You,
Les
