With over 31 million hits, this might just be the best of the best:
I saw Bon Jovi perform this song at the Staples Center. I'd see Bon Jovi again in a second. Not only that, Jon Bon Jovi is a man of honor and character. While women love him, he has never been linked to infidelity. I took a chick I used to date to a movie in which Bon Jovi starred. Long story short, she couldn't stop talking about him.
As a little shaver I sat in a rocker and rocked for hours listening to Marty Robbins. I don't think many come very close to him, though I do like Pancho and Lefty by Willie and Merle.
I can't access it as I have no record player, but I wish that I could get it on DVD as this is one of my favorites from Levon Helm:
THIS IS A VINYL RECORD ALBUM BY LEVON HELM, JOHNNY CASH, EMMYLOU HARRIS, CHARLIE DANIELS + ALBERT LEE CALLED "THE LEGEND OF JESSE JAMES", & IT'S ON THE A&M LABEL #SP-3718 IN STEREO, & IT CAME OUT IN 1980. IT CONTAINS (16) C&W TUNES LIKE: "RIDE OF THE REDLEGS, QUANTRILL'S GUERILLAS, SIX GUN SHOOTING, HAVE YOU HEARD THE NEWS?, HEAVEN AIN'T READY FOR YOU YET, HELP HIM, JESUS, THE OLD CLAY COUNTY, RIDING WITH JESSE JAMES, HUNT THEM DOWN, WISH WE WERE BACK IN MISSOURI, NORTHFIELD: THE PLAN, NORTHFIELD: THE DISASTER, HIGH WALLS, THE DEATH OF ME, THE PLOT + ONE MORE SHOT". ****NOTE: JESSE ED DAVIS PLAYS SLIDE & ELECTRIC GUITARS!
My great grandfather was a young apprentice in Northfield, Minnesota on the day that the James-Younger gang robbed the bank. The townsfolk naturally noticed a group of strangers and when the gang left the bank, the guns were ready.
Doggone! There it is, along with White Mansions, a cycle about the Civil War by the same composer. I'll have to grab a copy. And maybe more for my kids.
Taking a bit of a different path than his dad. But overall pretty good compared todays crap they call country. One of his latest that I like to crank up. Don't see it getting played on the radio.
