I asked them to verify the mag box length on a 308 Montana, the guy put me on hold and about 10 minutes later responded, "that is proprietary information and we cannot disclose that over the phone"...dumbest fk'n thing I have heard today, maybe this year!
It's code for "I don't know and I'm too lazy to find out."
They could tell you but then they'd have to kill you.
Nothing like some stellar customer service

Yep.
Just a tad over 2.800
2.82 ish
Thanks X2, I knew ya'll would have the answer but didn't want to ask such a trivial question that could be answered by a phone call.

They make a nice 300 WSM.
That proprietary mag length is fugging priceless. I can't believe they actually said that.

Well yeah, I have had them measure anywhere from 2.81-2.83 wink

Of course he done the "ish" thing. If it was exact, he'd be getting arrested by the proprietary information enforcement swat police right now.

Well I was going to email them this thread... but no email listed on their website. So I emailed it to their Human Resources team instead. In the interest of science... er customer service.

Not listing a general info email address on your "Contact" page is about the dumbest f*cking thing a company can do. Especially when you're selling $1,000+ products to people who might not have the time to wait on hold on your precious phone line.

And the initial response better be from an employee who is not in the unemployment line. I can understand that response if you ask about the metallurgy of the magazine box. Sounds like they lost a potential sale. Now I know never to do business with them after hearing everyone else's horror stories about QC. Now CS (customer service) to boot.
Kimber has a history of snatching mediocrity from the jaws of excellence.

See, you got double the education you were looking for today.

1. Mag box length (expected)
2. Kimber CS can't answer trivial questions

This is an important business lesson, folks. If you don't know the answer, just be honest with your customers. If you really want to blow their skirts up, get some contact information from them, find the answer to said question and call them back.

Forbes is giving them a serious run for the money, though.

Hmmm.....One bunch of rude-azz yanks endeavoring to create a bigger goat-[bleep] than another bunch of rude-azz yanks. Who'da thunk it?

I'd grown fond of the "Swedish Method" myself.
