I had to go to Boston for work last week. I wanted to meet up with Leighton again but it didn't come to pass. I was planning on staying the weekend but as I have to fly out again in the morning I figured I better come home Thursday. I got a chance to take some pictures of Boston, Lexington and Concord though so I thought I would share some.

i enjoy walking through that cemetery.
Roger I did too. It amazes me the caliber of men it took to create this country and to think quite a few are buried right there is very humbling to me.
Thought the skull and bones were a interesting touch.

This could be familiar to some.

Great pics there Jim.... I use to spend a lot of time down there when in college....I enjoyed all the history "right there"....

Was back there in 2013 during September and with friends that live there went down to Boston Common and had a meal with Leighton...

We parked in the parking garage under the Commons...

When we got up to street level, on the Commons, they were having a rally to legalize marijuana, 40 yards away Barney Frank was getting ready to speak.. the rally also was for promotion of gay rights...

I hadn't been on Boston Commons for 35 plus years...going on close to 40....however when we got up to ground level, my first comment to my local friends was " well I see not much has changed in the last 40 years around here..."

Yeah, well that was then. Things have really changed since!

Funny co-inky-dink. I witnessed mobs of shytbirds in town today--many more than usual. The Common and the whole downtown crossing area was abuzz with the vermin. I actually saw a beggar's sign I'd not seen before, and snapped a shot. It's like the Dead were still alive, with their standard accompaniment of bums, failures, do-nothing layabouts and burnout hippie wannabes...

P.S. John, your memory is quite good, but your dates are in question. I'm pretty sure that was 2011 or maybe 2010... wink

Jimmie, sorry we couldn't get together this time around. Apologies. Next time for sure.

I think it was 2012 at the latest Leighton...just verified it with Seafire Jr... he remembers things like that better than you or I would....

he doesn't have as many years to remember as we do... he said it was the Sept after he graduated High School... so that would have been 2012...

But be that whatever, once again, thanks for your hospitality and your company....it was a real pleasure for all of us to get to meet you... Caroline, her son and my son really commented afterward what a great guy you were....

hope to repay it one day if ya ever make it out this way...

both Jim and Leighton, really enjoyed the pics gentlemen...
We need DD up on the roof above that area, with libations and a good supply of Black Cats.

A string of em' in the fella below's hair would be entertaining.

You bring him and some toys, and I'll bring a sign that reads, 'I bet you $5.00 that this filthy bum here is healthy enough to not only stand, but indeed is fit enough to run, and fast. Observe as some motivation is applied. Amazing what some can achieve when their hair is ablaze'

Leighton,

I will make it a point to make some time the next time I am up there to be able to explore and buy you dinner. I hope you got out on some fish.

Jim
nice boots!
Mack, you are A: quite the traveling man, and B: quite the photographer.

Loved the historical pictures.

Boston must certainly be a wonderful place for someone like me who is "hooked" on early American History. It made me feel "proud" just to SEE Paul Revere's and Samuel Adams' gravestones along with pictures of "THE" ship that represents early America to us all, the USS Constitution.

Major thanks to everyone who posted and shared their pictures with those of us who have never been in Boston. THANK YOU !~!~!

Semper Fi...

Ron T.
the history is amazing to someone who has never seen it before.
