Man! I can't believe how good this whiskey is for the cost. Anybody else a believer??
I have been known to take a goodly amount to elk camp for evening enjoyment following supper. No one has complained so far.
At deer camp Saturday, one of the new guys brought out a bottle of
"Breckinridge" from Colorado.
I don't know what it costs, but it was impressive.
The Breckenridge from CO is great- leaving Breckenridge for Seattle in an hour. The Eagle Rare is also excellent!

Never tried it. Gonna have to give it a go.
It's good.....and I had some extra spring in my step this morning.....LOL.
Around here you can get in trouble giving 10 YO's wiskey.
Like other single barrel bottlings it can, and does, vary sample to sample.
I've had it ranging from very good to "stash this special bottle away" good.
Anybody else a believer??
AMEN HALLELUJAH BROTHER!!!!
Kin ah git a widness here. !!!!
The Eagle fifths used to come in a nice wooden box. I still have several around here.

Do you mean the version in this bottle?
It's not the same as the single barrel version on the market today.
Have not tried it or even heard of it but would like to correct my error.
Is it generally available across the country and how much does it normally cost?
Thanks,
Steve
It was good back then too.

Steve, contact brother Allen. He has been known to bring Eagle Rare to camp in Ky. if memory serves.
Great stuff.
What kind of sick twisted SOB lets a 10 year old drink, let alone posts on an open forum looking for one.
Denny,
Thanks for the tip. I'll see Allen this Saturday.
Hope all is well with you.

I believe mine was $29 at a small neighborhood store.
Sounds about right.
It was my favorite camp whiskey for years.
Enjoy.
Stinking state run stores here in Virginny!! Never see it on the shelf, asked about got the 'hunched shoulder' look back.
I is very good.I tried some a fellow brought to deer camp last year.
Just bought a 750ml of Eagle Rare on sale at $22.00. Have not tried it yet but I will this evening.
Gotta love the Campfire!

I picked a bottle up a few months ago at an ABC store in No VA. Don't recall price though.
At that price you got a very good deal on Eagle Rare. Here in Kentucky it retails for about $34. You got it for three bucks less than it's younger brother Buffalo Trace.
Eagle Rare is aged in the lower floors of old brick warehouses and the cool, slow, aging imparts subtle flavor notes to the Bourbon. It along with WL Weller a wheated bourbon, I consider the best values of the Buffalo Trace collection. You can spend more, but these two are as good as they get IMHO.
Yes, I work for Buffalo Trace.

All NOVA stores have it for about 28 bucks. They also have the big jugs. If it's not in your local store just have the clerk transfer it from another store. It will be there by the following Tuesday. My local store has cases. That also have Elmer T. Lee.
BTW nice thing about VA state run stores is they do not jack up the prices. In GA and SC I've seen it for as high as 60 bucks. Got the Elijah Craig barrel strength in VA for 45 bucks. $120 elsewhere.
ER is part of the Buffalo Trace Distillery distribution network.
Yes, I work for Buffalo Trace.
Man oh man....do I have a lot of questions for you!!
ER is not distributed by Buffalo Trace, it is MADE by Buffalo Trace. I see the barrels everyday.
Sorry to offend....that's pretty much what I meant:
Eagle Rare is a brand of bourbon whiskey distilled and distributed by the Buffalo Trace Distillery.

Isn't that the truth! I'll start with one: for someone who has shown to prefer the rye bourbons (ex: Basil Hayden) what others would you recommend?
prm get your name on your local store's list for the upcoming Rye/Bourbon releases:
Black Maple Hill
Sazerac Rye 18 Year
Mitcher
Willet
Whistlepig
Rittenhouse
Bulliet
EH Taylor
Mastersons
Angel's Envy
Jefferson
Again, VA stores have ET Lee and ER in plentiful supplies
Just to name a few

Cheerfully contributing to your delinquency free of charge 24/7.
If you start falling down, change to Weller&Weller (90 proof).
Eagle Rare 10 year old in my glass on the left arm of the sofa as I type. The bottles that we get here are very tall and slim
Tried out my Eagle Rare this evening.
It is very smooth, with a lot of flavor.
Thanks for the introduction guys. The Campfire scores again!
I may have to buy a few more bottles since they are on sale in Montgomery County, MD. Not too many bargains here.
Steve
Glass to my right while watching MNF. Not bad!

I can't believe you're not watching Dancing With The Stars!
Yes, I work for Buffalo Trace.
KYWII, If you could find a way to bring a couple bottles of that 23 year old Pappy up to Michigan, I'd be more than happy to set you up with plenty of powder, primers, and bullets!

You want the 15 yr. JC 2009 and before. Trust me.

JC 2009? I'm not familiar with that one.
Last year, the bartender at an establishment I frequent told me he found this bottle of 23yr old Pappy in the store room that had been forgotten about. Said the thought it had been sitting there for probably five years. He asked if I would like it opened! It was stunning.
Tasting Four Roses single barrel versus Eagle Rare tonight. Winner hands down for me is Eagle Rare. No contest.
Where did you find Four Roses lacking?

The 12 year old Weller is a steal.

Just not as smooth and easy to drink to me as the Eagle Rare. I had a few fingers of Four Roses and then a few fingers of Eagle Rare. The Eagle Rare was better to me.
But I guess my bottle of Four Roses could taste different than your bottle of Four Roses - single barrel and all.
I'm 50 Y.O., but have only been drinking whiskey for about 2 years. I'm still learning a lot.
Bought 2 more bottles (1 for a friend that I got hooked on Eagle Rare) and opened one. It's dang good! I'm hooked.
$28-$29/bottle. Not too bad.
