Well made it back. Would you believe I just got up half an hour ago. Left Nashville yesterday morning and drove the 802 miles with one stop for a late lunch at Cracker Barrel and necessary gas stops. 11.5 hours on the road. Unloaded the car, had a wee bit of Scotch and crashed about 2230.

Man I am getting old, that used to be a walk in the park for me.

Welcome back. Long drives like that are no longer in my play book.

I wish I knew you were in Nashville. I'm only an hour from there. I would have have bought you lunch.

Glad you made it home safely!

Any more, 500 to 600 miles in a day is all I'm willing to do.

Yep, the wife's family still all live up there. So we make a once a year pilgrimage to see her mom and the rest.

That is nice HAJ, but we only spent the night at a Super 8 in transit from Joliet, IL to home.

One of these days Sir I hope to meet up with you and a few others here.

Terry, I can't even do a 400 mile trip without several stops. Good on ya for making such good time. smile

Glad it was a safe trip...

I can still make long trips and cover a lot of miles in a day... as long as I am driving my car instead of my truck... and you can do 80 to 85 instead of having to do 65 or so...

and manage to keep out of city traffic...even on the freeways they can be parking lots nowadays...

She is pretty much immobile these days but still in her home under the youngest daughters care. The siblings had a good time with her and each other, it is their day as well as hers. Worth the trip just for the joy it brings my wife.

Barely but it will get better, my body was still "vibrating" when I went to bed last night! All better today though.

The very LAST time I try that, bank on it, 500 a day max from now on.

Yep, the biggest problem was construction on I-65 in Indiana and traffic through Atlanta. Nashville was Nashville but we stopped on the south side first day.

Glad to have you back on here.

Set the cruise on 75 and kept the left door shut as much as possible. Just had to get er done. I love visiting with Kath's family, the drive is what kills me but I will not fly commercial, PERIOD.

Good time! My best times Denver to Miles City or reverse back when (late 70's) was under 8 hours for 500.1 miles apt. to my FIL. Average 65 - 68mph. Getting out of Denver, going thru Cheyenne, Douglas (gas stop), Gillette, and Broadus slowed me down a mite.

Especially if the cops saw me first..... after the first year (of two) of monthly trips, a couple of those boys in Gillette and I were on first-name basis.... smile In the second year, a few times they just flashed their lights at me going by.

I kinda liked those guys.
