The two of mine that went on to further education after high school went to a bible only school for one y ear called Ecola Bible college. Helps kids get grounded and firmed up in thier beliefs away from home.

Go online and gather statistics concerning violence against women. Battery, rape, race crimes etc.

Then give the story to her and tell her why her desire to protect herself, and her ability to be ABLE to protect herself from these statistics is under constant assault. And her gender has a vested interest in preserving the ability to protect themselves. They are in the crosshairs on the street.

If she don't get it after that - that its MORE than daddy's hobby, it will likely take some sort of scare to get her to see the light, which is unfortunate.

My kids may go to a liberal college to get brainwashed and may even get a useless liberal arts degree. But it dang sure won't be on my dime.

One of the best things you can do for a kid, I believe, it to teach them to think for themselves rather than toe a particular line. (There are probably plenty here who see their parents simply follow a particular line of thinking just because it is 'right' according to a certain group.) Anyone who can think for themselves can pretty much sort out what's real and what's not. That doesn't mean they won't take some detours - and probably will, but those with good life experience and a decent brain�.that's a no-brainer.

I was very happy when my oldest (24 now) graduated Hofstra University with his masters in Accounting (passed tests, he's a CPA), and is more hard core right than I am even. A Liberal would NOT be happy with his views on illegals, 2nd Amendement, etc.

I hear ya.. Sounds like my son. May next year he graduates from UND-Grand Forks with a 5-year degree in accounting. McGladrey's already hired him to begin next fall and will pay for his CPA exams.. He's at or very near the head of his class, a solid conservative and has no time for liberal BS..

Gotta love it.. Don't know if we just got lucky or we actually did our job as parents..

I'm not sure what college your daughter is going to. However, if you are paying the bills, you have options.
1. If you are paying for the tuition, books, and dorm with meals is one thing. If she is staying off campus let her earn the money to pay the rent and food.
2. Extra money that is asked for, to keep up with the friends, start weening her off and let her get a job for the extra money.

I have a niece who is or was very democrat and last year, i asked her how she felt to be in the top 10% earning money. She clearly did not like having to pay all the taxes and school loans. I think she is starting to change her mind on voting democrat.

This is a mind set that is taught early in primary and high school and furthered in college to be anti fishing , hunting and anti gun.

My wife & daughter are vegetarians, but they've got no problems with me hunting. In fact, my wife sends me on trips.

One day, my daughter comes in wearing a shirt that says, "I'm a vegetarian, and I love you!". I asked her what that was about, & she said that it's a way to battle the preconceived notion that vegetarians HATE everyone else, & judge them for their choices. Kinda neat, in a weird way.

Anyhow, love your daughter, and always show kindness. Time has a funny way of softening view points. Even if she doesn't come around to your point of view, she'll respect it because of the man you are.

Father and daughter

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very Liberal

Democrat, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in Favor of higher taxes to support more government programs, in other Words redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the Lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that She was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people She knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends, because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, 'How is your friend Audrey doing?' She replied, ' Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are Easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She Is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over.'

Her wise father asked his daughter, 'Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA, and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.' The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, 'That's a crazy idea, how would that be fair! I've worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!'

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, 'Welcome to the conservative philosophy'.

If anyone has a better explanation of the difference between Conservative and Liberal I'm all ears. And, if you ever wondered what side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one. If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat. If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life. If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels. Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church. A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced. (Unless it's a foreign religion, of course!)

My kids all went to the same liberal arts college, which happened to be in the same town we lived (I was the team doc for the athletics dept in addition to my private practice). They got the usual liberal pablum in most of their classes, but we would discuss some of the more egregious commie bullshit they were being fed from time to time, and they all came out OK. Both daughters voted for Obama first time around, but Romney the second. Education doesn't start when you graduate college.

I distinctly remember calling my father when I was in college, telling him I was going to flunk a certain Sociology course. He of course asked why...so I told him.
The Prof.wanted me to write a term paper on the graduated income tax system and the redistribution of wealth in America. So I did....
Told him it was Communistic at worst and Socialistic at best, and when he took strong exception to my remarks I pointed him out as the perfect example of " those who can't do...teach."

" Don't worry about it" was my fathers cryptic reply.

The only sad thing is she moved to Johnstown PA and I miss her
but she is doing just great. I talk to her everyday

That illustration will work on some liberal people but not on the hard wired, true believing Neo-lib "progressives."

For example, several years ago on a very far left site to which I belong, a long thread was posted wherein the members were all advocating the confiscation of the incredible wealth of (mainly) conservatives because it was "not fair" for them to have so much money when so many people did not have any wealth, hadn't won Life's Lottery, were poor and suffering, etc., etc., etc.

I posted they were all correct. Income and wealth distribution should be mandatory as that would only be fair.

Given that this site was composed only of professional feature and teeeveee writers, and given that considering the thousands of members in the Writers Guild of America who were nearly always out of work and stuggling to survive by various means including scamming the many taxpayer funded welfare programs, and whereas a comparatively few writers wrote all the movies and teeeveee shows and made huge amounts of $$$$$, it would be only fair for ALL monies paid to the working writers be placed into a central fund at the Writers Guild and some WGA bureaucrat would send out equal checks each month to ALL writers employed or not. No writer would receive more than another whether working or not. That would only be "fair."

You should have seen the outrage and insults thrown my way. Why, you'd have thought I advocated hanging and burning effigies of Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and Castro, on upper Sunset Blvd. on Saturday night.

"THAT'S NOT FAIR!!!!!!" all screamed. Writers are different! Writers are special! Writers are artists! Writers who work deserve the huge saleries they are paid. (So long as they are good far left neo-lib "progressives.")

Of course, ever unemployed writer believes that he or she will someday sell a feature script for gigantic $$$$ or create and sell a teeeveee show and be the show runner making unbelievable sums of money Therefore, income redistribution is unacceptable for THEM........ but not you.

I must say I got a hearty laugh as those holier-then-thou elitist leftists squirmed in their blatant hypocrisy.

That's normal. It took me a couple year to deprogram my wife after she finished her degree.
