My 83 year old dad wanted to go fishing, so my brother and I took him and his wife Doris smallmouth fishing. Didn't get any real big ones this trip, wind was blowing, road was washboardy...

but we boated 32 and the old man still gets it done.

What a blessing to still have your parents AND they be healthy enough to enjoy a day of fishing. Good on you for taking them fishing. Looks like a good time was had by all.

That looks like great time.
I wish I could have gone along.

Very cool. Small mouth and wild steelhead are my favorite fish to catch. Glad you were able to share the time with family.

Great pics and I agree with the sentiment that you are blessed to still have your parents. BTW, where is ll this fun taking place? Looks like a beautiful piece of water.

Man, that looks like fun. Yeah, where?
Posted By: krp Re: Friday fish fry... - 11/01/14
Apache lake, Az... half my ashes are to be scattered here and the other half in my elk honey hole.

You can see mule deer, coues deer, javalina, eagles, big horn, lion.

Catch largemouth, smallmouth, walleye, trout, catfish, yellow bass, crappie, bluegill, carp.

It's one of my family's favorite spots.

A few pictures I've posted before...

Nice buck Kent.

Beautiful country for sure. Saw where the lake is located about 65 miles NE of Phoenix. That puts it tight in the middle of Apache territory, right?
Posted By: krp Re: Friday fish fry... - 11/01/14
Apaches were a threat to miners in that area. The Superstition wilderness gets close there, not far from the Lost Dutchman mine area, alot of old west history and on the historic Apache trail which is still a dirt road.

Great pics Kent.

Some of that water looks familiar.
Posted By: krp Re: Friday fish fry... - 11/02/14
Yep, you, Miles and I were camped on that shoreline. You don't see camps in there now, the FS closed that free camping dirt side because the heavy rain 'destroyed it'... I walked through it and it was just like always, tables and restrooms still there, no big washout.

Asked when they were going to reopen, and the FS representative proudly proclaimed... 'never'... and was beaming that they put the chits to the public on our land... couldn't understand my disgust.

My brother's been perch jerkin' on Erie and we're having the moth er of all fish fries on the weekend prior to the Pa. deer opener up in Clearfield County. It's a great time and we have had as many as 40 folks show up. If you're gonna be in the area and interested in attending, let me know.

My Dad and I did a lot of largemouth bass fishing here in Florida. I'd give just about anything to go with him again.
Enjoy these days krp, they will seem so precious in the future.
Glad y'all had a blast, and taught those fish some manners. laugh
