When I was a kid we used to get 8' bamboo poles from the local carpet store. A lot of the rugs/carpet they bought came rolled on the poles. We could take all we wanted! We made a lot of fishing poles and other stuff with them. Wish I had a few now.

We slayed reds a few weeks ago. Bad urge to hit whites/crappie up the creek at sommerville, but due to things out of my control again for the next couple of weeks, looks like I"ll miss out again....

The crappie are not biting here, as of last week. Warm weather moving in next week and they ought to start moving to the shallows.

Ed, you gotta be either from either TX or LA, if you're still regularly getting them that size. Texas did have a very good restocking system going for a while. Haven't tracked it lately, so don't know about its current state.

One like that isn't good eatin', anyway. Full of worms. Come to think of it, worms don't taste bad. Just cook em' a little longer So, you can just send 'em on down to me and I'll dispose of them properly for ya'.

Popped a pack of them that size in the past. Don't hardly happen any more down here (FL). Used to be like clockwork in the passes at night, or wading the oyster beds (3-15 lb'ers) during the day.

Paul Prudhomme groupies and corporate mulletboat poaching about cleaned us out years ago.

There is some good news, though. DNR and Mote Marine Lab had been working hard to reintroduce fry into the ecosystem. Black Point got a bunch of them restocked and they seem to be flourishing.
