Just finished some additional testing. Here's what I've found so far:

1. Very comfortable to hold and aim.

2. Quite accurate. With a modicum of hand support, it did a nice 1.5" group at 17 yards. Dovetail three dot sights right on from the factory.

3. The trigger is very nice. Not as nice as a well-polished 1911, but much better than average for a striker fired firearm. Gun does not have a double action mode. If it's not cocked, it won't fire.

4. Controls are a little different from what I'm used to. There is no safety, but there is an ambidextrous decocker. To re-cock, you pull the slide back about 1/4". That's a two handed operation, rather than one.

5. Magazine holds 18 rounds.

6. Thought the slide coating might be a little tougher. It appears to just be paint. I already have a couple of almost microscopic spots where it has chipped off.

7. Canik claims to have testing to support a claim of a 50,000 round service life. Spec on the M9 is 35,000.

8. Street price around $375.

As nearly as I can determine, the C in Canik is pronounced as CH in English.

Oh, and the holster is quite nice... maybe as good a holster as I own.

The magazine loading accessory, not so much.

I traded into a Canik Stingray a couple of years ago.
Very accurate, and so far has functioned flawlessly.
Every review I have read has given these guns very high marks, I have to agree.
LOL.... you got me curious. According to one source, in Turkish, C is pronounced as the J in jelly. So I missed by a mile. A is pronounced AH. So I guess in Turkish, it's Jahnik. Oh well.
I have read "J" before also, and have heard it pronounced differently on videos on the net.
So, I reckon it's one of those, "I know what you mean" until we know better.
