Just finished some additional testing. Here's what I've found so far:
1. Very comfortable to hold and aim.
2. Quite accurate. With a modicum of hand support, it did a nice 1.5" group at 17 yards. Dovetail three dot sights right on from the factory.
3. The trigger is very nice. Not as nice as a well-polished 1911, but much better than average for a striker fired firearm. Gun does not have a double action mode. If it's not cocked, it won't fire.
4. Controls are a little different from what I'm used to. There is no safety, but there is an ambidextrous decocker. To re-cock, you pull the slide back about 1/4". That's a two handed operation, rather than one.
5. Magazine holds 18 rounds.
6. Thought the slide coating might be a little tougher. It appears to just be paint. I already have a couple of almost microscopic spots where it has chipped off.
7. Canik claims to have testing to support a claim of a 50,000 round service life. Spec on the M9 is 35,000.
8. Street price around $375.
As nearly as I can determine, the C in Canik is pronounced as CH in English.
