Me first... sick...

Saturday night at 0'dark thirty I was headed to my tent for some great desert air slumber. I crawled into the tent to put some stuff away and backed out again to use a cactus before bed time.

Well...

On the way back in I plopped myself down on the cot to take off my boots. Mind you the cot is only about six inches off the ground and takes some manuvering to get off of. Did I mention it was really dark???

As I was untying my boot all of a sudden there is something furry at my side that was spinning against me.

Since one boot was half way off and the cot was so low to the ground and did I say it was dark? I did the only manly thing left to do...

Yep,

I let out a blood curdling little girl scream, or at least I thought I did as no one at the blazing campfire heard me from 25 feet away.

In the midst of "screaming" I found my little pocket flashlight and shined it at the wild critter next to me...

Well, just so happened that Dennis' dog Ruby had been laying on my sleeping bag and just moved over a bit to cuddle after I had sat on the cot. blush grin

Too funny...

Sure hope that seven month old pup isn't scarred for life... grin
Hah! I have a similar story, but involves my own arm that had completely gone numb from sleeping on it. Same little girl screaming, a lot of flailing, and even some running.

Of course I was about 5 or 6 years old grin

Anyway, good on you for making it. I gotta believe you are probably the most Campfire Gathering traveled member there is!

Good for you, and I hope to run into you (again) at a gathering sometime.
grin

My screaming episode involved a tent and a black bear

I bet I screamed louder smile
It's nice to hear it was just a puppy dog. lol

Dang, probably heard in several states grin
It always is best to tell all, before your buddies tell it the way they remember!
Glad you had a good trip with a great group!
Coulda been worse

He's now gonna have to burn his sleeping bag... grin

In Big Bend NP the javelina walked right up to us, asking for a handout. My girlfriend thought they were cute, but stinky

I am really sorry I was not there with a video camera to help you out in your time of need. grin

Let's see...how do you remove the smell of dog pi$$ from a sleeping bag? smile
I was wondering who taught her to sleep on top of the cot! I had to push her off mine three times before she went to her own bed that night, Thanks, Brian!
That's what good friends are for, to teach your dog bad tricks. smile
After that weekend a certain pup will be in forever search of bacon... grin
She's scratching at the back door right now because my wife put bacon in the meatloaf!

She gets spayed tomorrow. I have mixed feelings but I don't want to breed her.
healthier for the dog if you aren't going to breed her.

Dang, if her pups were as awesome as she is, they wouldn't be hard to move.

There are no males in AZ and I don't want to deal with it. Marty will have another litter on the ground in June and ready to go in July sometime. I have 2 or 3 of them spoken for.
