This site constantly reloads on my phone, and doesn't work with Explorer. I can barely make it run with Google Chrome.

If you're on a PC, Chrome and add block worked okay for me. I'm usually on an iPhone and it was unusable until I downloaded Mercury for a browser. Much better now.

I don't know if he reads these little quibbs, but within the last month, I made two purchases elsewhere, despite being referred to the 24hcf gear shop, because of the redirects.

Not sure anyone else has decided to spend half a K elsewhere, but if they do, it adds up.....

I can barely even type a message here. I type faster than it loads, and there is always some video ad at the bottom of the page that gets hung up which throws everything off. Then I get the yellow banner "24hourcampfire is not responding."

I don't have issues at all, so its not the sight, its others systems IMHO.

I do have issues on the iphone, but its too damn small to be on the net with anyway...

But here at work firefox, and I forget what I"m on at home... PC at work, Apple at home.

No issues to speak of. Every now and then its slow but thats about the worst.

All my issues went away with ad block software downloads...

Hearing that gets old. Name another site that you visit that a huge percentage of post are about how to get the website to work. I can't remember the last site I visited where I read a huge number of posters who said they had to change web browsers, add more software on their end etc....to get it to function.

Whoever he pays to host the site should take care of it. It shouldn't be something an owner has to take care of.

It's fine with my desktop, but I've all but given up getting on the campfire with my iPhone. I admit, I'm a curmudgeon, and resistant to change. Changing to Mercury was a PITA and I went back to Safari, so no more Campfire for me at home. It is the only forum I visit that has the spam on it.

I enjoy coming here, so I put up with it to an extent.

I block the ads, so no revenue there.

And since I cannot guarantee my info is safe given the amount of 3rd party BS, nor can I get on with my phone when I am more inclined to have a moment to impulse buy, I don't visit the gear shop.

Wifes computer has firefox and chrome with adblock plus with each, no problems here.

i've had all kinds of different problems with this site in the last few years.seems every few months it something different.

I don't have any problems with any other sites or with my computer at home. I have just about quit using my iPhone to look at the campfire though. It constantly gets redirected to the Apple store. I don't have a problem with any other sites on my iPhone. My brother has the identical problems and uses a different carrier for his phone service.

I'm not interested in changing anything on my phone to make up for a problem that the Campfire has. It took me too long to figure out how the phone works to begin with and I'm too old to go through that again. This is the best forum, to me, on the net, but I will find some other place to visit with my iPhone.

Had issues a few months ago, but they all went away over about 1 twenty four hour period. Been great ever since. I just use PC's and Internet Explorer. Don't do the phone or pad things at all.

I always come here on my android phone, only problem is the window closes and I have to tap internet icon and it pops right back to the page I was on... a tad bit annoying.


And yes this the only site where that happens.

This is my favorite website but the wait time for ads to load was taking 10 to 20 seconds even after I recently upgraded my internet speed from 2.3 meg to 23 meg. I just downloaded Adblocker-Plus and it fixed the problem with all the websites I look at daily. I use Internet Explorer with Windows 7.

I am one of those, works just fine for me. I am using firefox with ad block plus, all I see is content. But then if I had to use one of those damnable smart phones I would be off the internet.

On my droid, the page is constantly loading. I will be reading a post then it will reset and take me all the way to the first post of the topic. I have to scroll down really fast to keep reading before it does it again.

Mercury browser. Its free, or a couple bucks for the "enhanced" version, at the app store.

It is a little different, but my Luddite azz does alright with it.

Every time I try to post from my iphone it's a race to get it posted before the page resets and I lose everything. Pretty frustrating when I lose that race. I try to copy what I'm writing so I can paste it back in after I loose the page.

I started using Google with all the adblockers in place to log on here. No issues at all since I switched. Logging on using straight IE got to be a PITA. I dont have a smart phone, so no worries there.

No! You have to adjust your phone and add this and that so you can view this site. I use my work phone, which I can't add anything like add-blockers to so I guess we're just SOL.

Time for true confessions.

My laptop has two operating systems. I use Ubuntu 90% of the time with the Firefox the comes with it. I have used adblock for years and moved to adblock plus then changed to adblock edge. I almost never see and ad. I have an android phone and with the addition of Firefox and adblock edge I have no problems viewing the fire.

Yesterday I had to do some work in Windows. Again in Windows Firefox if my choice in browser. I have added adblock edge and popup blocker but when trying to view the Fire I got all kinds of ads and redirects. Now I know what you guys are suffering and now I feel sorry for you. It was not fun at all. I even went back to adblock plus and it made no change.

I hate windows and only use it when I have to. I am working on seeing if the software I have to use for business will work with a fix in Linux. I won't try the Campfire or any other king on non-essential browsing in Windows again.

Today it's workng fine! Iphone4, I did load Mercury on wifeys iPad. I have listened and applied suggested fixes and seems to always work

Constant problems here with my iPhone and this website. It happens with NO other website.
It is this website plain and simple.
Its bullshit that the "solution" should be to load another browser or any other crap. Its a problem with this website, and nothing else.

All you dudes who say things like "ask rick for you money back" need to realize that Rick runs this website for a business. Its not like he does it to be charitable... this website earns him money.
He should take care of the constant redirect issue like an actual business owner.

If you are getting re-directs, you've got malware/adware.

Look at where it takes you and Google the landing page + the word "virus". That will guide to how to remove it.

Yes I can set my computer up with multiple protections, ad blocker, certain browser, different freaking opperating system, anti malware, anti....

The point is I should not have to do that to use this site and I do not have to do that for any of the other sites I go to on the web. So yes it is this site not the user.

On my PC I have a setup that works pretty good, hardly any issues except it sometimes loads slow.

On my tablet (surface pro 2) I had to load 3 different add ons to finally get the site to be usable where I could read a thread and not get redirected, only now I cannot see or view any imbedded videos in a thread, or any other website.

Yea, I know I can change browsers and operating systems, run XX version of adblocker and XXX version of anti-spyware & anti-virus extraordinaire, clean my cookies/brownies/donuts on a regular basis and it'll likely work OK. I also know this place is free. The point is that 99% of every other websites on the internet that isn't a porn site doesn't have to have that crap to run properly.

The fault IS THIS SITE, it's not because your or my computer isn't programmed properly. You shouldn't have to constantly change computer configurations to get a website to run correctly. Constantly fiddling with stuff on your computer often leads to unintended consequences. Anytime you add anti-spyware or change anti-virus on your computer you run the risk of bringing even more crap onto your computer and slowing things down.

I'm not a computer programmer and don't want to be. If I wanted to be a fuggin' computer programmer I'd have gone to school to be one and would be getting paid for it. I'm just a layperson who wants to be able to turn on the damned thing and have it work without 200 virus and spybots shutting down my computer.

I agree with both of you. I have no problem at all with the selling of ads to pay the bills. That's how things roll...

But, there obviously need to be a set of standards and guidelines the advertisers have to follow to be here. Malware and pop-ups isn't within that standard the industry generally allows. That why it's become a chronic problem here...

For the 100th time , get Mercury and save the worry for something important.

Then you get Mercury (whatever that is) and it fuggs up your Iphone. Or even worse, it screws something up which you don't realize until you get in timbuktu and find out it's bricked your phone when you need it most. I'm in Spain right now, this morning I was in Italy and yesterday I was in Bahrain. In every place I relied upon my Iphone for necessary communication to get my job done. I'm not going to go dicking with it and run the risk of screwing it all to hell just to make one malware infested internet site workable.

Nobody needs to be constantly dicking with their phone or computer to make one internet site work. Fix the damned site instead. As soon as you start replacing operating systems or browsers to fix one screwed up site you introduce ten more problems in other areas.

this site has serious issues. lockups, unreachables, db errors, you name it. i come here to make a few snide comments and read the latest safariman flogging and invariably it locks up tight and i leave. i blame ISIS.

I rarely post anymore due to the annoying redirects. I'm not loading a pile of anti-virus stuff just for this site. Hopefully it'll eventually get fixed. Flashing pm box for new members is another issue that needs addressed.

The point is I don't know what this crap will do to my phone and I shouldn't need to do it to make my phone work with this site when it'll work with EVERY other website out there. I need my phone to work, it's not experimental. I'll quit coming to this website before I'll screw with the phone. I'm sure no one really cares if one poster stays or goes, but run enough of them off and someone will care. These malware infested advertisers will eventually go away when there's nobody left to read their stupid ads because they got tired of this BS.

Last night was the first time EVER that I've had problems with the Fire on my iPhone 5s. Every time I tried to post, it would immediately redirect me to the App Store for some fricken game!!!
