The grave of Cecil Rhodes in Zimbabwe could be dug up after anti-colonial protests.

Rhodes is buried at a site he chose, known as World's View, in the Matopos Hills, half-an-hour's drive south of Zimbabwe's second city Bulawayo. His grave is a major tourist attraction in one of the poorest parts of Zimbabwe.

But some of President Robert Mugabe's supporters said they would dig up the grave in solidarity with protests in South Africa calling for the removal of Rhodes's statue from Cape Town University.

"We strongly support what is happening in South Africa. We cannot stand seeing whites coming from abroad every day to honour and conduct rituals before their ancestor who is buried on our own land," said Zweli Malinga, an official with the ruling Zanu PF party in Bulawayo.

Three years ago, Mr Mugabe blocked war veterans from disinterring Rhodes and sending his bones back to England, arguing that the grave was an important reminder of history. Rhodes, originally from Hertfordshire, made a fortune mining diamonds in South Africa before moving north to establish Rhodesia.

Ramabina Mahapa, a student leader at Cape Town University, said its bronze statue of Rhodes was offensive to black students. "Whose heritage are we preserving?"he asked.

Most of Africa is tribal & only a step & a half away from the stone age...............w/o people like Rhodes, they would be that far.

Ebola never strikes where you want it to!
Ooga...
Booga.
Have they ever built anything over a 'thatched hut' ringed with thorns to keep the lions out??
Iam going to spite my face--I think I'll just go and cut-off my nose.
As idiotic as the isis fools destroying ancient artifacts
I guess if we destroy history, then it didn't happen.
Just amazing to me that after all these years of rule by one of the most incompetent race baiting men in the world that this country has sunken even lower then humanly possible. Low information supporters that Mugabe has evidently brainwashed....wait we have that here as well.
G*d Bless Ian Smith!!!!!!
sounds as stupid as the protests at UT over some statue still there on campus....

Some folks need to get a flipping life.
All in all, I doubt Ole Cecil gives a good schitt.
Protest by not spending your $$ in Zimbabwe. No tourist $$, no income for the people, the people starve, civil war breaks out, the people kill each other, all good.
It's obvious that they resent any effort to graduate their race from anything above swinging from the trees while talking in guttural gibberish.

All humanitarian efforts there are pretty much in vain.
The African continent is one of the most resource rich on the planet, yet the standard of living only improved during the colonial period, and declined post-colonial.

Dammit Pete ya beat me to it.

Old Cecil has been rolling in his grave so long, he's probably worked himself pretty deep.
Zimbabwe is a disgrace - it's leaders continually show the world how immature they really are - after 35 years of independence and continual large scale failure - they still lay the blame of all their ills on the white race..

What can you say apart from - Aaaag shame!

The great ruins where already ruins when the current inhabitants meandered into the region.

The current title holders (Mashona) could never have built the Ancient city, they were still being sold to slavery by their chiefs (to the Arabs) in central Africa, when the Rozvi empire thrived in Southern Africa.
