Had some Patron last Friday night, but we did not sip it. Pretty smooth, but you pay for it.

I am no conniseur, but I know that I like THAT stuff. Good thing it is expensive.

I like Sauza brand. It's pretty good, and affordable.

1987.

Myself and a Marine Corp Lance Corporal slugged down a bottle on a bus ride back to Lawton Oklahoma.

We bought it from some streetside vendor wherever we were before that.

I ate that worm at the bottom.

A flat horizontal rainbow came in through the front window of the bus and nearly took off my head.

Good thing I managed to keep my reflexes about me, or I could have been kilt.

Look for Anejo - which means aged for mor than 2 months. Makes it mellow and smooth.

Reposado - aged up to 2 months - gold in color.

Silver - not aged so not for sipping but mixing.

Tried some Cazadores Anejo recently,I liked it.
Posted By: AkMtnHntr Re: "Sipping tequila" - 03/30/15
Best tequila I've ever had is Aha Toro Anejo, it's so smooth I only drink it straight without salt or lime.

Unfortunately my favorite local Mesican place can't get it anymore so I'm stuck with Corralejo Anejo, which ain't too bad but it's not Aha Toro.

I like Don Julio respazado or anejo or whatever it's called. The brown one.

Not much of a tequila drinker though.

Well I have been known to keep a bottle of Patron Silver around the house...and sometimes some Cabo Wabo.

I rarely drink anything other than beer, but every now and then a shot of a good tequilla goes down pretty good.

My mom was a bar tender and she gave me the rules for tequilla.

Never take more than two shots...because 3 is never enough!!!
Posted By: stxhunter Re: "Sipping tequila" - 03/30/15
drank some teqkilla one night woke the next morning with a pool stick indention on my nose.
Posted By: Cruiser1 Re: "Sipping tequila" - 03/30/15
Another saying about tequila shots; it's like tits, one is not enuf and three is too many.
Also applies to martinis.
Posted By: jnyork Re: "Sipping tequila" - 03/30/15
I keep a bottle of tequila under the sink at all times in case the drain gets stopped up. grin

Dayummmm!!... You've had the Real? Worth it?

I thought the Cuervo Reserva de la Familia was spendy but very good, but the
Real from Don Julio is on a shelf beyond my reach....
Posted By: DanInAlaska Re: "Sipping tequila" - 03/30/15
My personal favorite is Cava Antigua. Special occasions only...

Yes, I have had a few times. Buttery smooth. Sort of a mix of the 1942 and their anejo.

Worth it... not to me.

Don Julio 1942 is better (and cheaper) IMHO.
Posted By: gwrench Re: "Sipping tequila" - 03/31/15
My wife and I toured the Porfidio factory in Puerta Vallarta some years ago and we came away with some of their tequila. It was amazing but I'm too cheap to keep buying something that pricey. We kept the fancy hand blown bottles though.

Nowadays Hornitos repasado tastes pretty good to me. As long as it's 100% blue agave it will taste much better than Cuervo and the other rotgut stuff.

Sauza is OK for making Margaritas. Patron Silver is much better for shots!

still have the scare from that pool stick...

Posted By: CrowRifle Re: "Sipping tequila" - 03/31/15
Same here. Been in the lockup twice and Jose Cuervo put me there both times.
Posted By: chlinstructor Re: "Sipping tequila" - 03/31/15
Best Margarita I ever had was from Ma Crosby's in Acuna Mexico. It's been at least 25 years since I've been down there, and I wouldn't go for any amount of money, nowadays.
