Exploratory surgery at noon tomorrow. So far Vicki has been 3 days in and out of the hospital back in her home area, and now 6 additional days here.

Several times the Doc's have thought they had her figured out and dialed in, only to have the lower abdominal pain return with Nausea and vomiting then dry heaving. WITH a fresh 18 inch incision that has not had a bit of a chance to get better with all of the throwing up and dry heaves, and now they are going to re open the whole thing. Docs are all out of idea's, this is all they know to do right now. I sure hope they find something tomorrow and can repair, remove, replace, fix SOMETHING!

Prayers, please.

Thanks in advance,

MARK

I was healing up great until today.. My chemical panels are off, with Creatinine trending up and my new Kidney started hurting tonight. Sherri called the on call Nephrologist at Virginia MAson and he had us check my BP, temperature and heart rate then asked if I am still eliminating urine at a high rate, which I am. He said to medicate the pain and check in with him again in the morning. I will be trying to see him and be with my cousin pre op today. Thanks for asking.

This Kidney transplant stuff is a BIG deal. Dangerous and lots of pittfalls. These guys are very good, though.
Sounds like they left an instrument or gauze pad...on the inside. powdr
Absolutely Mark. I will be praying for a healing ASAP.

Jim
Done here ,Mark.
On the way
Prayers sent!
It would appear this good deed has not gone unpunished. Terrible! Prayers continue.
Prayers sent from Az.
Praying here.
Thank you, everyone.

Vicki is in surgery now. We hope that they find something that can be repaired!

My bad chemical panels and pain last night turned out to be that the Doc's had me on a too high level of tachrolimous, one of several anti rejection medicines I take and will be taking for life. They reduced the dose and expect me to be back to my terrific recovery and feeling more normal very quickly with the lower dose.

I will update again in a couple of hours when Vicki is out of surgery.

Mark
Prayers from here, too.
Praying.
On the way from here.
Kidney donors ALWAYS suffer worse than the recipients. It's a helluva sacrifice to make in more ways than one. I'll pray for this good woman.
Praying here also.
I pray you both get better.
That is rough! So sorry for your cousin. At least she's getting the care she needs.

Glad YOU are doing well. They'll get the tac lined out.

will certainly keep lifting you guys up.
Prayers from CO for a good woman who done a good deed! May you both heal quickly and painlessly!
Mark,

just getting home from the campfire get together in Texas...
so late to the party...

but each of you have been in my prayers daily, and often during my 3 day drive home from Texas...

waiting to hear good news on Vicky's progress...

And good news you shall have!

Vicki's surgery went well, and they did find a couple of adhesions in the bowels that they were able to fix right up. Dr. thought that this would be the silver bullet, and so far he is right as Vicki has already been switched to oral meds and so far is doing well! No explosive pain or bad vomiting, dry heaving at all today so far! We are thrilled, but also cautiously as they have thought they had it figured out a few times before to have the attacks come yet again. Trying my best to have faith that she is on the mend and finally on the mend. Looks like it, and I am going on that premice.

we are all going to try some pier fishing on Sunday if she is released to us tomorrow or the next day and feels like going. Pier 86 in case anyone cares to know. Ling cod is open starting tomorrow so I am planning a scouting trip there to see what is being caught and with what.

How WONDERFUL it would be to just have a day like that, all four of us, even if there was no fish caught and/or Vicki did not feel up to holding a pole. I have not pier fished in about 2.5 decades. Weather is supposed to be sunny and calm, with highs in the high 60;s. Pretty good day to go as I see it.

As for me, I was ordered down from 35MG of Tachro down to 25. My Tachro level was way high at 14. This probably caused my Creatinine and Potassium and blood cell counts to be all screwy as well as the pain I was feeling right in and over my new kidney.

Thanks so much for all of the prayers and well wishes. Please keep them up that we are on the healing and mending side now.

Mark
Pier fishing makes sense.

Praise the Lord for this miracle.

I'm sorry but I find it completely deplorable that you are on an internet forum talking about your next safari while your cousin, who gave a kidney to save your life, is fighting for her life...

Not to mention that Drs orders keep you within reach of a hospital and you are volunteering to go look at a trailer ouside of that zone...and I forgot the cold you tried to hide from your transplant specialist.

You claim Christianity...better start showing it.

YMMV

Flame away.

Thought by many, proclaimed by few. Every single word you wrote rings true.
Where can I send money? I'd like to fund this "pier fishing" to help lift your spirits.
Done here
Will do Mark. Glad to hear she is doing better.

Jim
Every hour I spent in the hospital for 2 weeks following my transplant, I thought of just these few things:
1. My God.
2. My family.
3. What I'd like to do when I got out.
4. How wonderful the people in that hospital were.

Mark is doing the same thing. A little pier fishing WITH his donor sounds like an excellent No. 3.

Vicki has been couped up in a hospital room for three weeks now. Both she and her husband agree that sitting on a pier with (maybe) a pole in hand on a sunny day in the sound sounds like aa great way to break away and live a little.

I have been with my cousin every day of the way except for the couple of days whe tried to go home and had to get sent back, and I am at the hospital for my own labs and appointments more often than not. Plus, my sweetie is wearing out. And, I will still be within close range of the hospital with two good drivers to get me there if I have a set back.

And of COURSE I am anxious to get back into the swing of life. That has always been my way i.e. what is next to plan for and do. The Safari idea is a long ways out as I will not be cleared for full time work until Jan '16 at the earliest. But that does not mean that I will not be anxious to ride my HD, varmint shoot etc. when I get home. I have been too sick to do any of that since last July other than one single day varmint shoot trip that about killed me off right before I came up.

None of ya'll are walking in her or my shoes, talking to our DR's etc (who are all unanimous on the pier fishing idea being a good one) so you really don't have a valid position or reference point to make a judgement call. Hmmmm...... judging others.... something in the bible about THAT one, too, methinks...

On my way to the hospital for my lab work and appointmnts, plus hang out with Vicki for a bit.

Good news on the Vicki front, NO throwing up or bad abdominal pain last night! And with only moderately strong oral meds!

Ecstatic here, x 1000
Gun Geezer, having been through the process as you have, your perspective is very welcome. I've participated in the transplant process numerous times from various perspectives, but thankfully have never been the actual donor or recipient. Thanks for sharing your experience, and Godspeed.

As for Mark... he's shown appalling insensitivity on this forum more times than I can count, and as such I can understand others being harsh or judgmental about his current prayer request and current actions. I am one who, if asked, would advise him to cut his posting of personal information down by 90% or more to spare him the inevitable harsh retorts he receives, but he seems to be oblivious and/or invulnerable to such criticism, so that advice would likely be wasted.

But I have no problems praying for the good cousin who sacrificed for him, and rejoicing in her recovery.

You are right sir, I do not need the approval of others and do not base my life on what others think. I live a bit different of style than most, a motto taught to me by my father being "LIVE, till ya die" So I might tend to squeeze more out of my time here than others would. OK, ya'll live your way and I will keep picking fights with Pachyderms and other large creatures plus enjoying the rush of a legal drag race etc. for as long as I can.

Thank you for praying for Vicki, and I mean this most sincerely. She is, indeed an amazing and gracious lady and I feel most awful for the high price she is paying to give this gift. But just yesterday a Nurse asked her, in my absence, if - knowing going in what the price would be as in 3 weeks in the hospital with pain and nausea - if she would do it again. That Nurse asked Vicki when I got there if she could share with me Vicki's answer to that question. Her answer, in a heartbeat with no reservations.

I GAR AUN TEE you all that she knows me far better than you all, including my penchant for wild rides of many flavors. She has also seen my other sides and sincerity in my love for God and people. Lost and saved alike.

Got to go, lab work at 9:15

More news and updates when I come back later. Until then, spare us all of the judgement stuff when you have no earthly clue of what you speak.

Mark it would seem that you are trying to squeeze more out of your time at the cost of another squeezing less out of hers.

I ain't trying to take your inventory but you need to rethink what has transpired and work on your priorities.

A little less about "Mark" and a little more about others, others that you can never repay what's owed them.

Can't wait till you're home setting new speed records on that HD. Helmets will only add extra unnecessary weight and are for sissies.

Who else can claim that.
Thanks, Man.

Neither do I, and I have been doing since the get go....
Just marveling at how some are so very unfortunate...be it birthright or malady.
As dad would say, "There but the grace of God go I"

My thoughts exactly!

I'm sure the cousin knew what kind of man Safariman is before she agreed to give him a kidney.

Makes you wonder.
prayers sent, hope she heals.
