First eight women failed Ranger school. I thought there was a news article a week or so ago that said they had passed. This one says they failed, but will be allowed another chance. cry

Being offered a chance to try Ranger School again is a far cry from actually trying Ranger School again.

Col. Dave Grossman describes a situation where two 1st lieutenants (one of them being himself) were trapped in a rice paddy for an extended period of time with no food or water, surrounded and under continual fire from Viet Cong fighters.

At one point Grossman says he complained about the situation, to which his companion replied, "Yeah, but at least we're not in Ranger School."

When I heard him tell that story I was at a table with several Ranger alumni. They didn't laugh, they just smiled and nodded with complete understanding.
…being "re-cycled" is common; not a disgrace and not always their fault. I'm not in favor of women-Rangers, but don't read too much into this, plus more of them advanced than were re-cycled.
Women should do things they're good at like cleaning house and making cornbread. Cops, firemen, and the military infantry should be for those with danglies.
Details have already been posted about this on the tail-end of the “More Women Warriors” thread.
Read the whole article about how many men are being recycled along with the women - 101 of them. I'm sure some of the men will pass this time around but it remains to be seen if any of the women do.

I beg to differ gmoats. The following is from the article..

None of the remaining eight female candidates going through the Army Ranger School made it out of the first phase of training at Fort Benning, Ga., defense officials told Fox News

The Army Times reported in February that 100 women went into the pre-training phase, and in April, 19 women qualified for the first training phase, known as Darby. Within days, that number was down to eight.

Talked to a former Ranger once about the injury rates among Rangers over the course of their Ranger careers.

Not Ranger selection, but being a Ranger and doing Ranger things. Not just little injuries, either, but sequential orthopedic injuries that cause a certain number of Ranger to become too crippled up to go on being a Ranger.

I expect the crippled-up, career-ending injury rate would be considerably higher among any women who do Ranger-type things.

Did a joint training exercise with Rangers, one broke his back on the jump in, one was killed when ripped across the waist and mid torso area by a SAW gunner during a live fire exercise!

Freedom isn't free! Even in peace times.

You're correct, I mis-read it----my bad.

I have had a few women that were good help workin' cows and horses till I yelled at them too much ,then they quit, probably what happened here.
That article shows that those who seek to put women in combat are ghouls who really don't give a schitt about women.

They also don't give a $hit about men either or they wouldn't put women in those positions...
The Army is already on record that they'll do whatever it takes to get them through ( READ: LOWER STANDARDS), but like I wrote on the related thread mentioned, We've had 10,000 years to figure this out, and apparently we had (with few exceptions), that women DO NOT belong in the combat arms. Now with the stroke of a pen, it's like how did we EVER win a war without them? Pure PC nonsense. If they want to play, let them have their own service (like they used to) like the WAVES and do busy work, but women don't belong in ANY of the martial professions, to include fire, police, EMT, etc.
We let them vote....
That was another questionable decision. Even Ann Coulter agrees and has the facts to prove it. If it weren't for the female vote, the last democrat in the White House would have been Harry S Truman..
Women voting+ Oprah=A Very Bad Thing.

The beginning of the downfall of this country started when women got the right to vote. The US has been degrading every day since.
