Yup , run like hell if your ever chased and if the cop catches up to you just reach for his gun.........

Actually that move is now called "The Freddie Gray" move......

I shot some prairie dogs this evening. 55 gr BK from a 243 Win traveling at ~3850 fps. It was a hoot. Not as many dogs around as in years past. A pity, that.

I've wanted to try that, but the gophers around here have apparently left for greener pastures. I imagine the results must have been rather explosive?

Hey AC. Glad to see they let you out of the salt mines for the evening.

Did you get more prairie dogs when they were running, or standing still?
Posted By: achadwick Re: Never Run From Cops?? - 05/14/15
More standing still. Those little buggers are tough to hit on the run. grin

Turned the ones I hit into red mist.

Glad you brought up the prairie dogs! Was looking at the pasture out back and it was literally moving there were so many dogs running about!

Hope all is well with you all!

Since when?

I think someone is fishing for something here but they aren't biting. Maybe he should go drown a worm in another pond? Just saying.

Actually, no.

Just posted an article that I thought might liven up things a bit around here. Did not post my opinion.

I'll go ahead and add you to my stalkers list.

This was first blood with my new Encore rifle. I think I am going to like that rifle. Might even use it for antelope this fall if I draw. We'll have to see.

With the drought the last few years, I expect tag numbers to be down again.

Good luck on the draw!

Would like to try prairie dogs some day.

Got to shoot chucks one time, I think wife and I got 3 over in TN once. Was an interesting shoot there. Nothing really long, but a couple of 300ish yard shots.

I bet PDs could be fun too.

Shooting Prairie dogs with a good AR is the most fun you will ever have with your cloths on.

Just bring LOTS of ammo. grin

I can imagine. 1000 rounds is probably a start...
Posted By: achadwick Re: Never Run From Cops?? - 05/15/15
I've never used an AR on PDs but it sounds like loads of fun. In the past I've always used my Savage bolt gun in 223 Rem. My new 243 provides a whole new level of destruction on those critters.

To no one in particular, yesterday I drove down to Lamar on business. I'm back home tonight. I've never seen the prairie as wet and green as it is right now, or at least not for 30+ years. With all the rain we've had lately all the grass is green and there is standing water everywhere. Also, I saw VERY few antelope, much less than in years past. I think I only saw a total of 5 antelope the whole trip. frown
Yea, the .243 provides a great visual spectral.

The best round I've found for launching them into the air is the 90gr Sierra HP's out of .270 Winchester. My old load spit them out around 3500, and it would just launch them. laugh
AC,
If you expect to get much more Prairie dogging in this year, Nosler Proshop has the .243 55gr tipped Varmageddons on sale for 14 bucks a hundred, and the 70 grainers for 13.
