Large Hispanic population here in Hills-Barrio. Never seen one at an intersection or on ramp with a cardboard sign.

That said the kid that pumps my gas (gasp!) once tried to sell me on that Atzlan/La Rasa crud. Told him to go ahead and try it. Really just yanking each others chain. But we both have jobs.

So 85% of Michigan Mexicans vote R, or Commie.

Southern MI is blue. Detroit represents where socialistic policies end up and Chicago is right on it's tail. With time people on the dole endorse the hand that feeds them. And it is the same across cultures/race. The only solution is collapse. So they let the air out as slowly as possible while maintaining rhetoric to procure funds and keep the sheep in check.

The rest of MI is not blue. Painting conservative working Hispanics with the same brush is simply inaccurate. They are not stupid and they perceive the same dilemma you and I do.

Here lately we are seeing a trend. They have as many kids as ever. They aren't slowing that down. Often both parents, if there are two, and there generally are, are working.

BUT they have learned what all they can get free, at school, and from .gov and now not only are they working, but they are getting for free. Many are parents but not married to have a loophole.

They seem to be as greedy as anyone, about getting what they can milk for free.

I suspect that they take home more than my wife and I do by simply working....

that part kinda irks me.

But they are by far better and harder working people than quite a high percentage of local blacks ever would think about being.

I grew up in a barrio, Nothing like a blond Norwegian among black hair and tans. The men when they get work, work hard at the job, and believe in teamwork to get tasks done. Don't see many divorces and find kids that generally do pretty well at school. The are good at accumulating money, but it goes right back out the door.

If you don't know Latino culture, then they seem like insects, but like any culture group, get to know them and you find this - we all want shelter, food, warmth and good lives for us and our family.

I saw the “alpha female checkout clerk” from Home Depot at the local city open park the other night selling shaved ice and popcorn. Hard-working applies. So does basic needs. I appreciate anyone who doesn’t put off decent living before they reach a certain age. My thinking is we should live..not beyond our means, but a good life. Waiting ’til you’re 64 and then jetting off to the Bahamas or wherever for the remaining years, or wherever, is stupid IMO.

It is not uncommon for first, 2nd and 3rd generation Hispanic kids to be spoiled brats and the gangs are a plague. The influx of Mexican workers has driven down wages in many industries in the USA - those are the only negatives I have observed.

By and large the Hispanic folks in this country are hard working, generous, attend church at a higher rate than average hold family above almost everything and those folks here working sending money home make big sacrifices to do so.

Like every immigrant wave they start at the bottom and work up. Unlike other groups, in the Southwest they were here first. The fact that the culture is conservative by nature, faith, family, and hard work as core values and that they vote Democrat is an illustration of what a crappy job the republicans have done getting out their message.

If you just want to go after the bigot vote - you'll lose the fastest growing minority every time. Get the message out that hard work and family values are what all smart people should vote for and that everyone gets treated the same and votes will follow. Stay out of our pockets and personal lives, keep the country strong and jobs growing faster than the labor force, hand outs, and regulations.....why don't they get it?

Mexicans are the only people that I have met and worked with that their personality changes when they go from being alone to being in a good sized group.

When they are alone they pretty much have respect for the people around them. With the occasional A hole.

Same guy get with a bunch of buddy's and they are all A Holes.

I never trust groups of them. you do not know what you are going to get.

I have never seen any raise that changes like they do.

Blacks are ether nice or A Holes. Orientals the same.

By and large the hispanic immigrant community fails to integrate. As evidenced by the refusal to learn and conduct business in English, the waiving of the vulture eating the garter snake flag, etc.

Some of the best dude's I've ever had the pleasure to know and work with have been 1st or second gen mex immigrants. But exceptions do not make the rule.
