It's a dreary day here in Minnesota, as we honor all the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice so we could be free. My mind wanders back to my fathers experiences during WWII in Africa and Europe. Dad was one of the lucky ones-he came home. Heck, if he hadn't, I wouldn't be typing this. A box of pictures, some trinkets taken in the field, and his ribbons, and two Purple Hearts, awarded for injuries sustained in combat. That, and his gravestone are all that's left besides the memories.

Lest we ever forget those that laid down their lives for us. We owe some very much to these patriots. One wonders how we can ever repay the huge debt we owe.

To our many vets here on the fire, a sincere Thank You for your sacrifices, and a job well done.

To those no longer with us, Rest In Peace dear friends and comrades.
Well said my friend!

Amen Goph:

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."

"Lest we Forget" !
The best way we can honor the brave men and women who gave all is to REFUSE to allow our government to start any more wars.

Thanks for starting the thread,as I had a few thoughts I wanted to pass along.

Just got home from our churches 71st annual Memorial Day Service. The pastor drove home the point that unless we the living continuously protect the freedom that these soldiers died to preserve, they were sacrificed in vain.

It is our responsibility,to pass it along to the next generation intact,and instill in our children the love and appreciation of the freedoms and liberty so that they will do the same.

Unfortunately we seem to be failing to do this. I believe it was Reagan who said that "Freedom is always only one generation from extinction".

I truly believe that our "Real" National Debt can never be repaid.

and let all of our enemies move to places like Minneapolis, and get on the welfare rolls by the thousands, expect us to re write our society for their conveniences.. and they can condemn our nation along with the local democrats... push their religious views on our citizens and then rape little boys, behead little girls for honor killings and life will be all better....

did I leave anything out there Dances with Qweers?
