The Republican presidential race is very crowded — and very unformed.

A new Quinnipiac University poll of Republican voters shows a five-way tie for first — each with only 10% support.

The top five: Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee, Marco Rubio and Scott Walker.

Rounding out the top ten, according to Quinnipiac: Rand Paul (7%), Ted Cruz (6%), Donald Trump (5%), Chris Christie (4%), Carly Fiorina (2%) and John Kasich (2%).

The real Republican leader: undecided, at 20%.

“Safe to say, the 2016 Republican presidential primary is anyone’s race,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll. “With no front-runner and identical numbers for the top five contenders, it’s a horserace which can only be described as a scrambled field — at least so far.”

The poll also shows all the Republican candidates losing a general election matchup with the Democratic frontrunner, Hillary Clinton.

Hillary hangs us at 52 %.

I agree with you here. Not having any challengers on the DEM side is just as messed up as the "Clown Show" on the GOP side. I just hope the GOP does not allow Trump any platform as he is the single biggest clown.

Maybe. He's done pretty good in debates so far.

The poll I refer to most often now shows Bush ahead of Walker.

There are about 16 in the mix and I'm not excited about any of them. Maybe there's a dark horse out there somewhere.

Jim Webb is polling at about 1% for the democrats.....I am hoping he breaks out and takes the nomination.

I'm excited about a bunch of them. Just none that ran last time or last named Bush.

They can make any opportunity a debate if they want to. My hope is that a couple of them have the balls to tell the "moderator" to "STFU...we're debating". Cruz and Paul have shown the ability to do that. Will they? I don't know.

As I've posted. I've sent money to Cruz and will keep doing so. There are several others I could support. No Bush's and no Paul's. I'm afraid the apple did not fall far from the tree. Rand seems to be just as goofy as his daddy.

Seems to be very little down side to running for POTUS. You get your face on the screen and build your resume.

This is one of those times where I have to say that BOWSINGER is pretty close on something.

All Cruz knows how to do is give a stump speech. He's not going to be afforded enough time to launch into a long winded stump speech during the debates.

He's no dummy. I'm sure he understands this. But it'll be interesting to see if he can adapt to the venue.

It's true. His speaking style is extremely theatrical,...he works the crowd with facial expressions and body postures,.. He's the Huey Long of this generation.

He's going to have to demonstrate that he can talk "real".

A good example right here. He comes across as a TV Evangelist. He's not going to be able to do that in the debates

Just too many subjects for too many debaters with not enough time. They really need a new format.

Based on past debates I don't see how Cruz or Paul or anyone will have enough time to really debate much of anything. They will have some great soundbites to replay on the news.

The second debate on CNN will no doubt be worse and I do not see anyone breaking out of the pack.

Cruz is good enough to move back into the top tier. But he will need more to take the lead and raise enough money than these so-called “debates.”

This woman's only appeal is to the "its all about ME" crowd, who put themselves first long before they put this nation's future on any level of importance...

I don't disagree with anything you said BUT, that mindset is why we lost the last two elections. With a POS running, we can't lose...right? I'm convinced that a Wall Street promotion is worse than a social promotion.
