Why aren't blacks proud of their history and what they have overcome? I would believe anyone whose ancestors came here in slavery but have moved past oppression should be proud of what they have accomplished in such a short period of time. Good, bad or indifferent your history is your history and I don't understand trying to wipe the past away

620,000 dead, 1,100,000 casualties was the cost to
free the slaves. Who owes who?

Hard for me to sympathize with any American b&tching about the past given how much of the rest of the world wold LOVE to be here at all.

Teaching a kid they bear some sort of inherited grievance is among the worst thing you can do to a child.

I believe those who have overcome their past, are proud of their accomplishments, and rightfully so. It's just that so many, particularly in the cities, have not been able to overcome anything to include themselves.

Slavery didn't begin in America and probably not with blacks.
They Jews were slaves thousands of years ago do they still hold that against Egyptian's?
Roman Empire had slaves, some of those were undoubtly of European ancestry.
This whole slavery concept is BS.

Get over it already!

There are a number of politicans, a whole political party, a few churches, and at least one TV star that profit from telling them they are victims. If they refused to be victims then how could they claim guilt money from whites?

Brits and their progeny were none too kind to the Indians (sub-continental Asian variety), or Chinese, either. Them f'kers succeed like crazy, and ain't lying around whining about great-great-great-half-granddad.
