MOUNDS VIEW, Minn. (AP/WCCO) — As unpopular as it may seem, the Minnesota State Patrol is advising motorists not to stop for wildlife that may have meandered onto a busy interstate.

The advice comes after drivers on Interstate 35 in the Twin Cities metro could be seen on transportation video stopping or swerving to avoid a duck leading a line of ducklings across the busy road.

About a dozen cars narrowly missed the line of ducks as they waddled across the interstate. Remarkably, the sudden swerving and stopping did not result in any crashes. State Patrol Lt. Tiffani Nielson says she knows the advice doesn’t sit well with most people, but slamming the brakes could cause a chain-reaction crash.

If there occurred a crash which resulted in a death or serious injury due to a driver stopping for a duck or any other animal, that driver could potentially face a criminal charge.

The good news from out of all this is that those ducklings did make it across 35W safely, and in this case no motorists were injured.

THAT was amazing! Down this way the idiots would have run all over top of one another and likely killed every one of those brave hearts!!

Thanks for that!!

Just watching it speeds up the ticker a bit

As cold as this may sound I was actually pulling for ducks over humans. But the best case scenario definitely prevailed with everyone and thing safe and sound.

I've watched it about 10 times now and it gets better every single time.
I wonder how she got them across the retaining wall in the first place.

Under it, through a drain.
Balls of steel on that gal.
Someone used to have the SIG line, The more you run over a cat, the flatter it gets".

Thought that was going to go down here.

Dumb? Brave? Its a toss up.
For sure an entertaining clip.
I will not come to a dead stop in the middle of four lanes of 65mph traffic for anything I can safely run over. That dark colored little car that stopped was damn lucky the drivers behind them where paying attention and had somewhere to go.
That video had to be speeded up a bit.

I have never seen ducks move that fast. They always take their sweet-ass time crossing a road and traffic be dammed.

I'm not even going to bother to watch. Every single driver who slowed down or swerved to avoid the ducks and left their lane should be tracked down and given a reckless driving ticket. If someone had been injured or killed there it would have been a criminal tragedy.
