The only plus for me is that WV Democratic Senator Joe Manchin voted for the defunding. So did WV Republican Senator Shelly Moore Capito.
Posted By: MontanaMan Re: No defunding....... - 08/03/15
They just don't have the ball's or the will to go nuclear as the Dems did with O-Care, & so, they will never get 60 votes to get anything done.

A couple of Dems might go rouge from time to time, but never enough to get to the 60 vote threshold.

O'Connell is one mealy mouthed lyin' POS, SOB & he's fully in O's pocket & complicit.

The irony of it all...

The varsity team, the dems, gave over 500 million$$$$ to the slaughterhouse planned parenthood in 2014.

and...

The slaughterhouse, planned parenthood, gave 500 million $$$$ to the varsity team, the dems, for campaigns in 2014.

Looks like money laundering to me...

The republicans could have 80% of each house and still manage to lose the votes the leadership wants to lose.
We have traitors in charge, and I have my doubts about much of the rank and file.

Hold the phone, guys. There was method to McConnell's madness.

He knew that defunding was going to be voted down. That is, the no votes were going to prevail, no matter what he did.

His no vote puts him on the prevailing side. Since he is on the prevailing side, he can now require a re-vote.

And why would you think the outcome would be different?

I'm really tired of the R's trying to finesse things like this.......go nuclear, get it passed with 51 votes. End of story.

There was never going to be a defunding of Planned Parenthood, the establishment Republicans would do anything to NOT have that as an issue for the election next year.

They don't care about it as long as they get to keep their power.

Wen I was able to cast my first vote, it went to Ronald Reagan. I have voted in every election since that first one. I've never voted for a democrat. The only votes that I have ever cast, with exception of Reagan's , that ever accomplished what I wanted to accomplish, were the three I cast for Ted Cruz.

We have to get involved in this one too. We can't stand any more of these spineless Rs.

Vote out the incumbent. Take the profit motive out of govt. You don't see many slackers in a volunteer fire dept. People serve because it is the right thing to do and the reward comes w/ the quality of service.

Good people taking care of good people and excluding all others from the system. The Golden Rule is the only rule we need.

Anyone who is too dumb or savage to contribute doesn't benefit, pure darwinism. The strong protect the weak and evil is acknowledged and stomped into raspberry puree.

I would like to see 1 person in the coming debates take a stand on personal responsibility and common decency. Then i will go unicorn hunting.

WTF am I missing here?

McConnell and other supporters of the Planned Parenthood bill said it would protect women’s access to medical services because the roughly $500 million in federal funding would be redistributed to other organizations, such as community health centers.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) voted against it.

Maybe one should avail themselves of the process more in order to make informed decisions:

I saw that in the comments -
Quote
there's a reason why mcconnell voted against it, it's becuase if he votes yes, the bill fails, he cna't bring it up again, it's a procedural trick that reid used as well when he couldn't get a bill passed he would vote no, just so he could bring the bill up for debate again,

Is this true?
I ask, what kind of phuqed-up rules are those?

That rule is solely about evading responsibility or coming down on one side or the other of an issue. IT HAS NO OTHER FUNCTION.

\Now McConnell can tell PP supporters that he voted in their favor, meanwhile he can tell PP opponents that he had to vote that way due to "procedural rules". WTF!!!???? What a set up!!!

We ought to be carrying pitchforks and torches just over that rule.

Doesn't anyone remember 3rd grade arithmetic? How do you "grow" 54 Republican Seats into 60 without an election? The R's won the house, but they did not get the number (60 & 66(veto override))necessary for control. Is that really to hard to understand?

Even if they choose to change the rules of the Senate, to simple majority, which they could do and has been done on rare occasion, they would never have the number of votes to override a POSPOSTUS veto.

I have little use for McConnell, but he is a shrewd and knowledgeable politician from his years in the Senate and should be able to strategize as good as anyone, how and when to do what is needed to move important legislation forward. Most will disagree with that, and it's really moot since there are simply not enough "R"s to move legislation forward without some bipartisan support.

Planned parenthood should be defunded for money laundering.

They give all of our .gov monies to support people in congress that support abortion.

Just can't make this stuff up.

as always...

follow the money...

"Planned Parenthood donated $679,596 through its PACs and affiliates to pro-choice candidates in the 2014 election cycle, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a research group that tracks money in U.S. politics.

The Center for Responsive Politics compiled the data using figures released by the Federal Election Commission and the Internal Revenue Service.

Here are the biggest recipients of funds from Planned Parenthood:

Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., received $22,290.
Democrat Michelle Nunn, who ran unsuccessfully against Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., received $16,550.
Rep. Tim Bishop, D-N.Y., who was unseated in the 2014 election, received $16,200.
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., received $15,999.
Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., received $15,299.
Alison Lundergan Grimes, Kentucky’s Democratic secretary of state who unsuccessfully challenged Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, received $14,350.
Former Sen. Mark Udall, D-Colo., who lost his re-election bid, received $14,200.
Former Sen. Kay Hagan, D-N.C., also unseated in the 2014 election, received $12,811.
Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., received $10,999.
Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., received $10,850.
Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich., received $10,499.
Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., received $10,300.
Rep. Marc Veasey, D-Texas, received $10,300.
Rep. Scott Peters, D-Calif., received $10,291.
Former Rep. Dan Maffei, D-N.Y., who lost his re-election bid in 2014, received $10,250.
Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., received $10,057.
Reps. Julia Brownley, D-Calif.; Lois Capps, D-Calif.; Elizabeth Esty, D-Conn.; Sean Patrick Maloney, D-N.Y.; Patrick Murphy, D-Fla.; and Raul Ruiz, D-Calif., and former Reps. Carol Shea-Porter, D-N.H., and Joe Garcia, D-Fla., each received $10,000.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, the lone Republican recipient of Planned Parenthood funds was Rep. Richard Hanna, R-N.Y., who received $2,823.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., each received $1,000."

the entire panoply of 'nonprofits' and 'foundations' are engaged in a massive fraud/ money laundering scam. They pass bucks between themselves, to hide the origin and destination of illegal, questionable donations, and the money is always for influence buying, never for the intended purpose of the foundation/charity.
