Someone was making the case at a coffe shop I frequent and I overheard this conversation

The person said that The 2nd Amendment already provided for gun regulations with he phrase "A well-regulated militia". Rather than take the person head-on on their complete misunderstanding of the context of what "regulated" meant in 18th-century America, the advocate for the 2nd Amendment took a different tactic:

"So you believe that "well-regulated" means "government-controlled", correct?", he asked?

The person nodded in agreement. "Great!", He said, "let's just insert the words "Government Control" in place of "well-regulated" and see how it reads:

Quote
A well regulated Government controlled militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

"Now - does that make any sense at all to a nation that recently won their liberty - their freedom - by making war against a tyrannical government?"

The lib was left sputtering... I almost broke out in applause.
I'm making note of that one. It's perfect.
