good books,….non fiction. The kind that grab ya on the first page and keep you up reading until 3AM.

I need a couple of them to get me through the snowstorm.

They need to be available on Kindle.

If not,…I'll be on here aggrevatin' the piss outta people.

So what ya got?

Posted By: BlackHunter Re: books - 01/24/16
For me the answer is almost anything written by Tom Clancy or Frederick Forsyth.
Posted By: CrimsonTide Re: books - 01/24/16
I don't know that it is available on Kindle, but check to see if they have "Bridges at Toko-Ri".

I found it in a pile of loaners at a hotel in Cancun last year and couldn't put it down till I finished it.

Not a long book, but it killed a couple of days.

I really enjoyed "Empire of the Summer Moon". It's about Quannah Parker and the Comanches. And it's available on Kindle or iBooks. I enjoyed it so much I read it 3 times.

"Donner Party Recipes" by Anon. wink

"A Brief History of Time" by Stephen Hawking. Makes you stop and think a bit to understand it but doesn't flabbergast one with higher math.

Interesting that you like non-fiction, I do, too. Just can't really get into made up characters any more, whether in literature or on TV.

The Revenge of Geography, Robert D. Kaplan.

My Share of the Task, Gen. Stanley McChrystal.

Both will lock down your brain for hours at a time. Great way to enjoy a storm.

Can't say if it's a good read as I pre-ordered it on paper (available on kindle), but 88 Days to Kandahar looks like an interesting read.

Horse soldiers. Spec Ops in Afghanistan after 9-11.

Snowman - the 80 dollar horse. About a horse rescued from becoming alpo that went on the become a champion show jumper.

No need to be a horseman to enjoy either.

One of my all time faves! (Can't speak to the specific edition, though.)

Two recommendations for you.
"The Blood of Heroes". A very good read on the siege of the Alamo.
"A Terrible Glory" Custer and the Little Bighorn. Covers the battle & the courtmartials that followed.
Both by James Donovan.

Blood & Thunder by Hampton Sides

Essentially the biography of Kit Carson. He was involved in one way or another with a lot of other famous people and parts of their stories are interwoven throughout the book. A narrative on the eighteenth century western U.S.

Great read! Shows that Trump has not changed one iota in 30 years. You get what you see with Trump. No hidden agendas.
