"The rise of Donald Trump (and similar iconoclasts in other countries) is due to the gradual division of society into the protected - that is, people who make the rules and therefore benefit from them - and the unprotected, who don’t make the rules and end up getting screwed. The latter have finally figured this out and have stopped supporting the former."

Maybe Trump is just the first candidate to tap into this discontent.

Where Trump's support comes from is less about Trump himself, as Trump is just the vehicle to show the voter's discontent. It just so happens that he's brash and a successful billionaire which does nothing but help his situation.

This is more about the electorates judgement on the establishment, but more so the media.

If the media was playing a fair game, then tell me where is Bernie Sanders? He's won 5 states in a media black out, because the DNC is holding him down, and forcing the media to black list him. Bernie's wins are one of the biggest stories of the 2016 campaign so far, except that reporting on it would reveal that the media is in on the black listing! They're all crooked.

Trump is under a panel discussion every night about how to get rid of him. With 10 states won, the media is publicly having brainstorming sessions on how to knock him back, along with the RNC, who are obviously controlling the media message.

All of this happening, and nobody in the media is asking "What the hell has happened to Democracy!" Because again, if the media asks that question, they implicate themselves. They can't do their job now, which is honest reporting and hard questioning, because it implicates themselves in the problem.
