Worth a read:

Excerpt: (but click on the link and read it all)

The currently approved conceptual framework for American race relations dictates that whites—all of them, simply by dint of being white—are oppressors. Any deviation from this rigid script, no matter how deeply rooted in fact, must be immediately annihilated like a blood-engorged tick.

We are taught that black academic and financial underperformance—as well as black over-performance in crime—are the direct result of slavery’s horrid legacy. There are to be no other possible explanations. To note the hugely embarrassing fact that American blacks live far longer and under vastly superior economic conditions in America than they do in any majority-black nation on Earth may be factual, but it is RACIST because it undermines the ironclad Guilt Narrative that must never be questioned.

Here are some facts that The Script demands you ignore:

1) Even at the peak of American slavery, only a tiny percentage of American whites—about 1.5%—owned slaves.

2) Leading up to the Civil War, a vastly higher quotient of whites had worked as indentured servants and convict laborers than had ever owned slaves. Most historians, regardless of their political orientation, agree that anywhere from half to two-thirds of whites who came to the American colonies arrived in bondage. The fact that the vast majority of whites existed in a state closer to slavery than to slave ownership is something resolutely ignored in the modern retelling of history.

3) Documents from the era show that so-called white “indentured servants” were often referred to as “slaves” rather than “servants.”

4) These “servants” did not always enter into voluntary contracts. There is overwhelming evidence that many of them were kidnapped by organized
criminal rings and sent to work on American plantations. It is possible that as many, if not more, whites than blacks were brought involuntarily to the colonies.

5) The middle-passage death rates for these “servants” were comparable to that of blacks on slave ships from Africa to the New World.

6) Indentured servants were whipped and beaten, sometimes to death. When they escaped, ads were placed for their capture.

7) They lived under conditions so brutal that an estimated half of them died before their seven-year term of indenture expired.

The original book was a lie. Alex Haley later admitted that he'd made up a lot of it while passing it off as fact. Is this new version just enhancing the lie?
Yes but many will watch it which will put $$$ in the makers pockets -droves of people on this site will watch it!
Not I.
Not me. It's only purpose is to fire up the uneducated thugs and remind them why they should be pissed at the man. Pretty obvious when they decide to release the re-make in May of an election year.

Mike
No chance.
I'm watching 13 Days
Ain't happening for me.

The first was not a bad made for tv show but as far a s it being real not so much.

Might have to pluck some nose hairs out tonight.

Also, a good bit of, "Roots", was plagiarized from a book titled, "The African", authored by, Harold Courlander, (who ironically was Caucasian).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Courlander#Roots_and_the_issue_of_plagiarism

Quote

Roots and the issue of plagiarism[edit]

Courlander wrote seven novels, his most famous being The African, published in 1967. The novel was the story of a slave's capture in Africa, his experiences aboard a slave ship, and his struggle to retain his native culture in a hostile new world. In 1978, Courlander filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, charging that Alex Haley, the author of Roots, had copied 81 passages from his novel.[3] Courlander's pre-trial memorandum in the copyright infringement lawsuit claimed:

"Defendant Haley had access to and substantially copied from The African. Without The African, Roots would have been a very different and less successful novel, and indeed it is doubtful that Mr. Haley could have written Roots without The African.... Mr. Haley copied language, thoughts, attitudes, incidents, situations, plot and character."[4]

The lawsuit did not allege that The African's plot was copied in its entirety, as the two novels differ in many plot points. Courlander's novel depicts a successful revolt on the slave ship, a shipwreck on the French island of Saint-Domingue, a fugitive life as escaped slaves, recapture by French troops, and then transport to New Orleans in 1802. Haley's novel begins before the American Revolution, depicts disease striking down the slaves before they could revolt, and shows the ship arriving successfully in the British colony of Maryland. The copying in Roots was in the form of specific ideas and passages. For example, strikingly similar language is used to describe an infestation of lice on the slave ship:[5]

Courlander, The African

To the damp sick foulness in the belly of the ship there came to be added another torture—lice. ... They crawled on the face and drank at the corners of the eyes. ... If the fingers caught the predator, it was killed between the fingernails.[6]:23

Haley, Roots

But the lice preferred to bite him on the face, and they would suck at the liquids in the corners of [bleep]'s eyes, or the snot draining from his nostrils. He would squirm his body, with his fingers darting and pinching to crush any lice that he might trap between his nails.[7]:226

In his Expert Witness Report submitted to federal court, Professor of English Michael Wood of Columbia University stated:

"The evidence of copying from The African in both the novel and the television dramatization of Roots is clear and irrefutable. The copying is significant and extensive. ... Roots... plainly uses The African as a model: as something to be copied at some times, and at other times to be modified, but always it seems, to be consulted. ... Roots takes from The African phrases, situations, ideas, aspects of style and plot. Roots finds in The African essential elements for its depiction of such things as a slave's thoughts of escape, the psychology of an old slave, the habits of mind of the hero, and the whole sense of life on an infamous slave ship. Such things are the life of a novel; and when they appear in Roots, they are the life of someone else's novel."[8]

During a five-week trial in federal district court, presiding U.S. District Court Judge Robert J. Ward stated, "Copying there is, period."[9] Passages from The African were found stapled to a manuscript page from Roots. However, Alex Haley maintained throughout the trial that he had not even heard of The African until the year after Roots was published, and speculated that someone else had given him the photocopied passages. After the trial, Joseph Bruchac, an instructor in black and African history at Skidmore College, stated that he had recommended Courlander's novel to Haley when he visited Skidmore in 1970. Bruchac remembered driving home three miles to fetch his own copy of The African and give it to Haley, who promised to read it "on the plane."[5]

Courlander and Haley settled the case out of court for $650,000 and a statement that "Alex Haley acknowledges and regrets that various materials from The African by Harold Courlander found their way into his book, Roots." [5]

Is this the BLM version?

Joken2 ,

Let me get this straight - an african american stole something ? Hard to believe .....
Bernie and Hillary supporters.
Given all of the remakes of movies substituting black actors for the white actors in the originals, I wonder when they will remake "Roots" with a white cast.

Too busy with the VBTE to waste time on fiction.

Friction is another thing entirely.
I remember the frstg, I dodn't watch much, but what I remember was it was "black and white". There were no humans with real complex personalities interacting in it.

Im sure it is.

I actually met and interviewed Alex Haley just as he completed the book "Roots".....the mini-series hadn't been thought of yet.

I will say this, he was a fascinating man, and not one to sit on his laurels with his hand out.

That all said, Im guessing the latest version of roots will be anti-white in its every aspect.

I will probably be watching something else...
Stanley Cup game 1.

Funny how nobody's doing any shows about the slavery going on in the world today.

Oh, I forgot, those evil slave owners are Muslims; there's nothing to see there.
Not Shoop Dog.

News flash.
That peak is taking place today by the 0.01%ers and race doesn't come into play.grin
Snoop Dog is on to something. Instead of rehashing their roles as victims from 150 years ago, they ought to be celebrating successes of the last few decades. Bet that doesnt play well with the race industry...

Karen and I will NOT be watching.

After the Black Lives Matter riots and that BS in Ferguson, we are suffering from an extreme case of Negro Fatigue.

And besides, I really don't care grin

Blessings,

Steve

It is interesting that this piece of propaganda is being released today on Memorial Day.
It is as if the left wing bigots are trying to distract from the meaning of this holiday and replace it with white guilt.
Really nothing new about that since most blacks and white liberals feel the majority of American holidays are just to white for their tastes.
About forty years or so ago a lawyer friend said he was going to buy up all the rights to the movie "Roots" and then run it backwards so it would have a happy ending.

I guess a couple hundred thousand white Northerners dying on their "behalf" isn't worth their celebrating Memorial Day in a proper fashion??
I watched "Glory" last night which was enough black history to last me a while.

I'm not planning on watching it. I am sure it will be all about evil whites with all blacks being honorable. It is just propaganda furthering the liberal agenda. We all know there are good and bad on BOTH sides.

Nothing but BS being sold as history or reality.

RH
Bummer, I will miss it. Tonight is the night I have to re-arrange my sock drawer.
I hope I don't get the shpilkes over this.

As it turned out, he had no laurels to sit on since he'd stolen his plot from another author.
Not me, couldn't care less.
With game 1 of the Stanley cup finals and game 7 of the nba western finals I doubt it's going to set any records
I was going to watch paint dry. smile
Been watching it for the past 7 years in D.C.

So what did Alex Haley and Harold Courlander get wrong about the lice and conditions on board the slave ships?

Nailed it!

It won't get tuned in here.

311!
The first episode of the new Roots miniseries was aired on four different networks simultaneously tonight!

I don't recall that ever purposely done before with any TV show, series, movie or miniseries.

Four times the commercial ads equals four times the revenue, maybe?
