I think ole Roger could use some good thoughts, y'all. He's currently at the ER waiting to get his hands worked on. Fugkin Petey attacked him again, this time for no apparent reason other than Rog' petting him. I gather that Roger has a busted, dislocated finger and some fairly serious, deep lacerations to both hands.

Anyone who knows Roger knows that beyond that hard exterior is a sweet, caring, loyal and all around fantastic guy who would quite literally give a friend every penny he had as well as the shirt off his back. Roger is one of my closest friends and I wish him all the very best in any surgical procedures he has to endure as well as a speedy recovery. He better heal quickly, as he's got tuna to fight (hopefully) in a month up here with me. Best of luck and hang in there brother. You know you can call me anytime for anything I might be able to help with.

BTW, that shytbird of a dog's with Animal Control now and is going to be held for ten days for observation, and then will be destroyed. Good riddance, I say. Not for nothing, but I was dismayed when Roger told me that he was going to give Petey one last chance after the last attack, given Roger's grandson and other females living in the house.
Posted By: ingwe Re: Thoughts for STX - 06/06/16
Sooooo, it was Petey.........

Hope it pans out for Roger cause he is really a good guy.
Posted By: 4ager Re: Thoughts for STX - 06/06/16
Damn it. I was really hoping it wasn't Petey again.

Here's to a speedy recovery, Roger!

Posted By: tex_n_cal Re: Thoughts for STX - 06/06/16
Yep, hope all goes well with the surgery and Roger heals up quick.

Met Petey at Padre Island a few years ago; he slurped my face and loved everybody - seemed a fine, happy dog. A very sad deal.
Posted By: Bristoe Re: Thoughts for STX - 06/06/16
I had bad feelings about that dog when I saw what it did to him last time.

I hope his hands heal up right.

Send the dog to TRH. I'll pay postage grin

Sad to have a dog that has been proven to be dangerous.

Seems to be a big thing with blacks and other people compensating for issues.

Everything is not bigger in Texas.

Hate to hear that, The fact that he gave Petey a second chance shows he loved that dog. I'm sorry anybody got bit, but I'm SO glad it was Roger instead of that Grandboy, that would have been a tragedy.

Roger will heal up, that boy might not have. Get wall asap, Roger...

This. In spades.
There's too many good dogs in the world to let a dog live that attacks his alpha male owner.

It was a hard decision for Roger the first time, I'm sorry that it turns out he should have put him down then.

Posted By: hemiallen Re: Thoughts for STX - 06/06/16
Sad news Roger, hoping you recover fully and fast..

Mopar or nocar,lol

My daughter had a sweet brown lab, and a heeler that would yap uncontrolled quite often. One day the lab got tired of the yapper and tore the crap out of it, kids got her back to life sans a few thousand dollars. 2 years later the Lab got p-o'd again, this time they lived in the country a few miles from me. Daughter came home and the house was a bloody mess.
I dispatched the poor yapper, she had no chance of recovering from what looked like a mountain lion attack. They wanted me to dispatch the killer lab, and I almost did for fear of my then 2 yo grandson, but the lab was docile and I couldn't get the notion to kill it. They took it to the pound per my insistence, to be euthanized. Today I would have done it myself, as the SIL didn't watch them put him down, and I kick myself for not making sure someone else doesn't see the bad side of that damned lab.

Heal up Roger

And get yourself a border collie, much better pal's for an active hunter ( pun intended)-fisherman like yourself

I hope Roger heals up quickly and completely. Take this as a warning to all dog owners but especially large dogs capable of great damage. As they get older some dogs become mentally unstable and aggressive without warning or reason. If your dog is getting older and suddenly shows uncharacteristic and inappropriate aggression it's time to put them down no matter how otherwise healthy and normal they appear.

Thanks guys for the well wishes. They got that finger pinned up and tho other stuff sewed up. Got out of recovery at 8:45 yesterday. Going to suck having these pins in for a couple months. I'll figure a way out to get some work done. Fingers are still numb but that's better than throbbing.

Dog was picked up by animal control and will be kept 10 days for observation then put down at my request I should of had that done the first time like I wanted to and of listened to the old lady.

Hoping the deft hand will be good enough to grip the fishing rod when I get up north with lieghton. I broke my right wrist once and dremiled the cast in half lengthwise so I could take it off to crank a reel then put it back on with an ace Bandage, so I'll figure something out.

X-rays also showed two old breaks in my left hand I didn't even realize I had.
I'll post someone when I get home later this morning. Nurse wants some blood

Good to hear you're on the mend.

Heal well. You are a good man for giving that animal another chance. Too bad he failed you. I am sorry it hurts so much.

Get well soon stx.
Posted By: stxhunter Re: Thoughts for STX - 06/07/16
damn these fingers are not as numb but starting to get painful now. one is still pretty numb and it was one that wasn't damaged.
Posted By: Scott F Re: Thoughts for STX - 06/07/16
I have never had fingers pinned but can only imagine there would be a lot of pain involved when they wake up. I have however experienced long term pain. Try to keep your mind busy on other pleasant things and don't let the pain rule you. It will get better. Still praying for yo for complete recovery.
Posted By: stxhunter Re: Thoughts for STX - 06/07/16
thanks Scott, i will, good thing is i have a pretty high tolerance for pain.
Posted By: Steelhead Re: Thoughts for STX - 06/07/16
Pictures or it didn't happen.....

I hope to God if your stuck with having ONE finger sticking straight out, it's the right one!
Posted By: okie Re: Thoughts for STX - 06/07/16
I broke both arms at the same time once and my right arm on another occasion and another hand surgery thrown in and the most memorable hurdles I recall from these experiences was not the pain but learning new and creative ways to wipe my butt. If you've got pins sticking out that they may remove later then things may get interesting. Good luck buddy!!!

Good to see that you're on the mend.

BTW how are you typing?...........oh schit are you typing with your pecker again?

Thats petey.. I'd have NEVER bet on him biting anyone without something underlying...

Hope he heals 100% and quickly. I woulda shot that dog 2 seconds after he bit me the first time.

Damn, I was hoping I wasn't going to be reading a thread like this after the first go round, and deciding to keep him.

Sorry Roger, get better soon.

i type with one finger, still have 4 working finger and one thumb. i'd of shot him if my hands weren't tore up, right index finger was tore open and had a open fracture on left index finger.

i all most killed him though, when he lunged at me i grabbed his lower jaw with my right hand and i forced him down and got on top of him. then i started choking him with my left hand till he let go of my right, but he manage to get my left index and get out from under me. actually heard that finger break. he let go and i kick him back and managed to get in the door before he lung at me again.
Posted By: oldman1942 Re: Thoughts for STX - 06/07/16
Does this mean I can feel safe from your "surprise, stealth and speed" for awhile.

"He let go and I kicked him back and managed to get out the door before he lunged at me again." There, fixed, I can type w/2 fingers.

Gonna make a stack of targets out of this.....

You're a lucky guy Roger, injuries notwithstanding, I'm glad you managed to get away from him.

Petey not so lucky. I'm wondering like a few of the guys here, if there wasn't an underlying cause, some type of pain causing thing.

Again ,glad you're OK and sad about your dog.

It was me that found that f'ing dog half grown maybe 4 years ago. Nobody seen THIS coming. As best I can figure it came from a line of hog dogs some local poachers were running.

I'm posting this on my iPhone from a packed corner pub on the Isle of Man where I went to find wifi to check on this.

Great conversation abounds, the bikes are gonna be screaming tomorrow.

Crap Rog, sorry this happened. But I gotta say I expect you to get over it.

nothing i can think of except he was older and thought he was the head dog. probably should of had him fixed when he was younger could of sent the balls to larry so he'd have a set.

as for you larry doucheroot, you're about the equivalent of a piece of corn in a dog turd.

A fly maggot crawling out from under that turd has more honesty, common decency, and intrinsic value to this planet than Larry "DoucheLady" Root.

My daughter has a pit bull that she won't get rid of. It's on Prozac daily. Seriously. The vet prescribed Prozac for the dog...

What could go wrong? crazy

She still refuses my offers to "take" the dog.

I hope he dos come. It would be fun. We realer need someone to hold bowling pins on top of his head.

I am almost always against all the name calling that goes on here with the Root being the exception.
Posted By: oldman1942 Re: Thoughts for STX - 06/07/16
Huh, tough guy back to 5th grade name calling !

Funny how you "tough guys" (especially brickhead) are about as tough as Jello.

"Clan of the Border rats" "turdlike" and on and on.

You are hollering like a stuck pig over the terrifying prospect that I might show up. As STX said "with my stealth and speed, you'll never see me coming."

Sad so sad that a guy who lives in a desert junkyard has such delusions of greatness !

"I'm so important, I identify myself as turdlike."
