Friend shot serving felony warrant! - 06/25/16
Tom Hargrove, Chief Felony Warrant Division, Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office, Monroe, La. was shot early Thursday morning serving a warrant on a Perp that had multiple charges on him. Tom and I shot multiple NRA Rifle Competition matches over a fifteen year period and early on Tom hired out to the OPSO and worked his way up to Chief of the Felony Warrant Division. We both worked for the OPSO; my time spent there was a few years before he hired in. Tom is a sharp guy, very dedicated to his work and a 'pit bulldog' when it comes to getting his man! Tom took a shot from a .45 auto to the chin grazing the side of his jaw and then moving downward into his lower chest area. He was airlifted to medical facility in Shreveport, La. Luckily the bullet stopped before reaching his heart. Surgeons in Shreveport, La. did extensive surgery on him and he is recovering at this time. Future operations to repair Tom's face are likely in order. Perp (Black Male) was apprehended and bond set a $2,750,000. Tom is not a novice at serving warrants as he's been doing this work for 30 years. A lot more to this incident but I won't state it here! I'm really proud to have officers akin to Tom for for risking their lives on a daily basis for taking scum off the streets!
