I keep getting mail from them asking my wife and I to join.
It's hard to believe I'm already at that age.
Do any of you know what stance AARP takes on the 2nd amendment?
What type of political candidates do they endorse?
If they are part of the anti freedom crowd I will not have anything to do with them.

Not one penny of mine goes to AARP. I am not for abortion and I am for second amendment. They are neither.
Posted By: kududude Re: AARP - 08/30/16

AARP is a liberal puke organization. Anti-Second Amendment, pro-abortion and never saw a liberal candidate or cause they didn't LOVE.

An organization that is much more in line with our conservative philosophy is the AMAC http://amac.us/

This is also a good source of information: https://www.soundmindinvesting.com/articles/view/seven-alternatives-for-seniors-fleeing-aarp

Hard core left wing who supported Obama-care.

Here is a conservative alternative to AARP.

1. AARP is extremely anti-guns/anti-Second Amendment.

2. AARP consistently endorses left wing liberal candidates.

All I know about them is they gladly take your money and return little.

I agree with above assessments of AARP.

Liberal hacks.

AARP is an insurance sales office that really has no interest in your well-being.
Posted By: IMR4350 Re: AARP - 08/30/16
Thanks for the info everybody. AARP will not be getting any money out of me.
The wife and I will probably be taking a look at one of the alternative organizations mentioned above.

This,,

"ARP, Inc., formerly the American Association of Retired Persons, is a United States-based membership and interest group, founded in 1958 by Ethel Percy Andrus, Ph.D., a retired educator from California, and Leonard Davis, founder of Colonial Penn Group of insurance companies.[3][4]"
Posted By: gophergunner Re: AARP - 08/30/16
I have no place for them in my proceedings.
Posted By: RoninPhx Re: AARP - 08/30/16
my insurance guy called me one day asking if i was a member.
i repeated most of the above.
he told me the amount i would save on my insurance bill.
lot more than the membership premium.

AARP = scumbags

Now that we are in our 50's their mailings hit the woodstove for fire-starter.

Plus they are a major front for an insurance company. While engaged in insurance sales with their left hand, the right hand was busy running TV ads supporting Obamacare and criticizing the same greedy insurance companies. And they say irony is dead.
Posted By: djs Re: AARP - 08/30/16
AARP is a marketing organization. Their affiliated "partners" want to sell you life insurance, health insurance, etc. Stay away and save your money.
Posted By: Oldman03 Re: AARP - 08/30/16
They kept sending me stuff and I would write on the back telling them to stop, put return to sender on front, and send it back. Didn't do any good.

So, I wrote on the back of their letter..."You supported obamacare and my insurance premiums went up $484/per mth-- you pay my premium and I'll join-- otherwise stop sending me this schit!" That was about 4 mths ago, and so far, no more mail from them.

The next one, and there will be a next one, I'm gonna try Seafire's trick... attach return to sender mail on a something under 70#, and let them pay postage.

AARP Suks
Posted By: KFWA Re: AARP - 08/30/16
I started getting letters from them last week.

I don't like them because they hit me up at 50 thinking I'm "retirement age"

Have yet to get anything from aarp. Turned 50 almost 9 months ago.

They are rabid anti-gun fahqs that endorse democrap scum. They use the usual democrap scare tactic on the blue-hairs that the republicans are going to steal their social security check.

4 months from 52 still not a single thing....

Like I said, they may well know about some of us..... I'm sure .gov has us on there radar... you combine the fact that we are conservative, vote every time, own guns, are religious and have a background of very accurate shooting with iron sights and the lowly 223 out to 1000 yards, I'm sure we are a predetermined target for part of .gov, and others won't waste their time....
Posted By: Rock Chuck Re: AARP - 08/31/16
I'm 68. In the last 10 years I've got enough stuff from them to fill a dumpster.
Posted By: ingwe Re: AARP - 08/31/16
And all of it was treeing to sell you some kind of insurance...

Exactly..... Screw the AARP. Over the years I got so much mail from them I couldn't believe it. It all went straight into the trash. I'm now 66 and can't think of anyone in my age bracket that I know that would have anything to do with those liberal A-wipes. I hope they're seeing a severe membership decline. That would be fitting.

That is exactly what I did years ago. Sent them a brick with their prepaid self-addressed envelope with a letter inside attesting to their communist-democrat (redundant) ways. Never heard from them again,
Posted By: CraigD Re: AARP - 08/31/16
Quick note to AARP - GFY do it today! They will never see one penny of my money.
Posted By: Old_Toot Re: AARP - 08/31/16
It's nice to use their name proudly when getting discounts and not actually being a member,,,,so I'm told.
Posted By: gmsemel Re: AARP - 08/31/16
I keep getting there crap, I use a post office box for mail, and I keep tossing it! There is another organization that dose the same thing but its a freedom loving one! I am 61+ years old and will never join AARP since I have no use of love for communists!
Posted By: 22250rem Re: AARP - 08/31/16
Over the years I've heard that AARP stands for:
1. Always Advocating Russian Policies
2. Against All Retired People
3. Anti-American (forgot what the RP was for in that one).
Posted By: Mannlicher Re: AARP - 08/31/16
I used to slip a little sheet of lead into the envelope, and mail it back. They paid the postage. After awhile, they stopped sending me stuff.
Posted By: mtnsnake Re: AARP - 08/31/16
AARP supports liberals and is anti-gun. Joined once, never again.
Posted By: Sharpsman Re: AARP - 08/31/16
I told those bastids the first year after their start-up to take their AARP and stick it where the sun doesn't shine!!

AARP and Progressive Insurance are both in the boat!!

yeah, go to Walmart and buy as much cheap crap as you can find, go home and be smug about how much money you saved, go to the polls and vote a straight Democratic ticket, go back home and think you are not part of the problem that has fuxxed up this country

Why do you have to join up with any of them? I know plenty of old folks that do just fine without them.

AMAC sells itself a a less leftist alternative.
