Finally got a price for a 2017 Ford Raptor Crew Cab.
$51310 as a Base Price
Equipment Group 801A $3158 (This is the mid package)
Equipment Group 802A $9345 (This is the luxury package)
This doesn't count other options thrown in. Or the 5G's the dealer wanted to charge over MSRP.
Final price for a Raptor with Luxury, Dealer Extra Add on, Destination Charges etc.
$67,049
That doesn't include ALL of the options. You could easily be at $75-80G's.
Yeah...I don't think that is going to happen for me this year.
Have you considered a Dodge Ram with the Minotaur modifications ? They look pretty good to me. E
My kid has put me in the market for a new truck. A bit of sticker shock, but after contacting Dave Smith motors I found out I can get about $10k knocked off the sticker. Hence I can get a base model 3/4 ton quad cab 4X4 with the cummins 6.7 for a bit over $40k, or one with some niceties such as heated seats, auto start, backup camera for about $50k. Shipping will be about $2k.
Best of all I won't have to deal with the sales morons at the local stealerships.
Dave Smith is the place to go for a good deal and $2000 shipping doesn't seem too bad. I was around $2500 to get my trailer to POW when I decided I could do a road trip/vacation for less so I think that's what I'll do. When I get another truck I'll do as I've always done and buy a 2 or 3 year old lease return and let the original buyer take the $15,000+ depreciation hit. New trucks are ridiculously priced and even if I hit the lottery I doubt I'd buy off the showroom floor.
My 2016 Ram laramie 4X4 crew cab listed for $59,000.I bought it for $49,000 OTD that about made my SHIET my drawers. Can,t imagine $75,000 grand..
Good luck getting $15k off on a 2-3 year old lease return. 3/4 or 1 ton diesels have almost zero depreciation when 2-3 years old.
Used trucks have crazy resale. My truck was 10 years old with 150k on it when my son totaled it out, and it was appraised for $14k less than when I bought it new.

+1 I tried doing that on my last purchase and ended up with a new truck for 3k more vs a 2 year old truck
Yeah. My last 2 trucks were gas with the 5.3. You're right in that diesels hold their values better. In any case I hope you don't loan your son your new truck. 😅

They did announce the horsepower rating today (finally)
450 hp, 510 ft-lbs of torque - versus the V8 model, which was 410hp, 420 ft-lbs
400+ hp would be cool, but damn that's a lot of money
you can get more horsepower for your buck with a mustang, camaro or challenger. but it ain't a truck obviously. the raptor is nice but not 70k nice. if i was looking for a bad-ass vehicle, it would be the camaro ss.
looked at new trucks again this year. Once more, I decided to keep the 1988 4Runner.
I bought my Raptor when I was deployed through overseas military car sales. This was back in 2009. The 5.4 engine was all that was available when I ordered, one of the first off the production line. I got the sun roof, nav radio, backup cam, leather seat inserts, bed extender, all for under $40k. In the last few years I've got several letters from dealers trying to buy it from me for more than I paid for it. It's a good truck, I'll hold on to it for the foreseeable future...
What are your truck needs?

Feel the same about my clean 1995 Toyota T100 excab 4wd....
What are your truck needs?
Something that is safe for hauling around two kids. Able to get in and out of nasty boat ramps so I can launch my raft or drift boat. Take Elk and Deer hunting down two tracks and in random places.
My issue is lots of so called "trucks" have turned into urban city vehicles.
I would gladly bring a Toyota Hilux from here in Norway. Manual, Diesel, built very well, great off road etc.
But you can't get them in the US. I have looked at the Z71 and the Dodges. But when you compare prices...I would rather pay a little more and have all the benefits of a Raptor with heavy duty suspension etc.
I am moving from Norway to the US next year. I have some cash put away for a truck. So I am looking at my options. That truck seemed to fit the bill pretty well. What is killing me right now is not the truck price (for once in my life, as I am used to expensive stuff over here and vehicle prices.) A comparable Ford Ranger here would be 100,000USD Its the exchange rate. When we started working over here, it was 1USD to 5.7 Kroner. Now its 1USD to 8 Kroner. Kills transfers of money back to the US.
I have the same problem with SUV. Nothing "utility " about them anymore. glorified soccer mom wagons for 50-60k. Painted bumpers and no ground clearance but your hunting dog can watch a dvd on the rear entertainment center.
Looks like a crew cab pickup will be my next vehicle,
I see a lot of Raptors around the Austin area. Nice looking trucks. Have you ever considered the Titan , great trucks and overlooked.
All the more reason I'll never own a brandy-new truck. I just can't swing that kind of money. Jeez, we only paid 87,500 for our house. Good luck to those pricing new vehicles right now.
Check out Covert Ford in Austin. I went there from the east coast earlier this year to purchase a new truck. Flew in and drove back 17 hours. They were about 8k cheaper than the local Ford dealership. My brother and another friend did the same thing a few months ago and saved anywhere from 10-12k on new diesels. They don't play games like other places. I have no affiliation with the dealership.

That should tell you all you need to know about them.
I can't think of anything that would motivate me to pay that kind of money for a Ford pickup. For that kind of money I'd buy a Toyota Land Cruiser & have something reliable. Horsepower only sells trucks to teenagers with daddy's credit cards.

How much extra do you pay for them to pay off BLM.
Yeah, you can help blm pay rappers to make some new cop killer songs.
Not me.
I saw Body Count live back in the early 90's. Awesome show!

Most dealers will match a Dave smith price. Do all negotiations via email. The fleet manager is often a good guy to deal with. Start out at $500 below invoice less whatever the current incentives are. Invoice is roughly 10% off sticker. I believe edmunds will calculate the invoice price with the options, the destination charge will be added. The dealer should give you an invoice on the vehicle. This works for all the makes. But the brands like Toyota and Honda don't often offer any incentives. Sometimes you can get incentives as much as 8 k on the big 3 trucks depending on the time of year.
A guy could find a 2016 power wagon for under 50k easily and have a more capable vehicle....

Ok but you still have a Dodge

A Raptor does NOT have a heavy suspension! It has a soft suspension. It's not built for towing. It is however a very capable off road truck.

I guess it comes down to
3/4 ton,v8,steel,and off-road capability
Or
1/2 ton,v6,aluminum,desert racer
Buying a new truck is like driving two miles and throwing 10 grand out the window. Not for me.

What makes you think a RAptor does not have off-road capablility?????
Still have a RAM which is owned by a company in Italy and has less resale then any comparable Ford,Chevy or Toyota. Compare apples to apples a F250 will cost more and hold its resale value more then willa RAm.

I was under the impression Z71's have a heavy duty susp. and Bielstien shocks, tranny cooler, heavy duty radiator...
Pretty sure mine had the HD susp.
For you Raptor owners how does she do on the highway? Say 500-1000 mile trips?
Thanks

You can get a Ram 2500 workman with the Cummins diesel for $40k from Dave Smith Motors, ignore the sticker prices just pick one you like, email them and a sales person will call you with a quote.
Now if you really want a heavy duty offroad vehicle I'd say forget the trucks and get a Toyota Landcruiser. Yes, even more money than a Raptor but IMHO worth it. And it's not an overpriced American SUV, it's an honest to goodness offroad vehicle.

For 60K it ought to be friggin' capable!
Click Here Watch the video at the link above. You'll have to scroll down a bit to see it. While it's a virtual vehicle, the video details the upgrades made to the new Raptor. Seems like it's going to be pretty heavy duty to me.
Who's going to be the first on the Fire to own one?
Mostdealers will match Dave Smith's prices ? Not in my area. When I went shopping for my diesel powered Ram back in '06, the price difference was about $2200. And that was only one dealer. It cost me about $500 to go and bring it back from Idaho.
My Jeep Wrangler was much closer, about $700. But, again that was only one dealer. The rest of them still wanted $2000 plus more.
BTW, my '06' Ram is suppose to be worth about what I paid for it.... The local dealers never have them for sale used. Even people who work for the dealers can't get used ones.
If you really want a true, reasonably priced off road vehicle, consider a Jeep Wrangler. The four door models are so popular Jeep has had to run two shifts during production to keep up with demand. E
