I recently rescued a doberman. Great dog. After having him for a few weeks, my daughter mentioned that he has a tattoo on his inner leg.
Wondering if there is a breed specific registry that I could look into?
Would love to find the background on this dog.
TIA
Talk to your local pound. They can access the registry for that tattoo.
Is it a short green line tattoo? Means the pooch has a chip inside.
We get them tatted here for a lifetime license. I know, buying a dog license is ridiculous.
He may have just had a wild weekend while in the Navy....
No references to Mom, a girl or the Navy.
About a 6-7 digit with 3 letters and rest numbers.
He would've been chipped when he was adopted out. Now his chip is supposed to be registered to me.
Had one guy suggest contacting the Canadian Doberman Assoc as they require tattoos.
I rescued a female. The green tattoo meant she has been spayed. I would think a neutered make would be obvious enough to not need a tattoo.
My grandmother tatted her ssn into the ears of her Dobermans back in the late 60s-70s. Guess identity theft wasn't an issue to her back then.
Was strange too, I remember dinner guests...old people with numbers tatted inside thier forearm. Was only a kid but I was told the deal.
Seems like a good idea at the time but just wait until that dog has an interview for a professional, career type position!
I had to put my foot down with my Brittany Spaniel. Told her as long as she was living under my roof she wasn't getting any tattoo. Not gonna have folks thinking any dog of mine is a tramp.
