New "school" computer as of a week ago. Purchased on school discount (my wife is an administrator). Worked fine until just today..

All of a sudden it is "parental blocking" SOME (not all) of the threads here on campfire.. No rime or reason as far as I can see. Thought first it might be dead animal stuff, but its not just that.

But when blocked, it is telling me the whole site is off limits until I unblock it. Gotta remember my admin name, now.....

I'm assuming now the trip wire is just generally hunting/gun related, tripped by certain key words, not always present in certain posts.

Have I mentioned how much I hate ITs, even when they "help" me?

Are you using a school server? If so, the system may be using software to block sites. At one time the Tennessee ENA software even blocked the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency site. I sent them a snarky email about blocking an official state website and a week or so later the site was unblocked.

Try searching up info on the tales of "Moby Dick" and you'll soon know if it is a school district issue, or if the AST is just monitoring your viewing of "porch girl", "fridge girl" and other questionably age-borderline near-virtual pornography.

Yep. Doesn't go thru school server, (I think), but is a "school sanctioned" computer. Comes with the blocker installed.

Not that any 10 year old can't get around it. Problem is, I'm not a 10 year old....

How strange! A Buck for Dad, Wife's first Moose, Hunting Asian Carp with Boomerang, and page 3 on Big Game forum all give me this Oops/ parental thing, saying Campfire is blocked. Nothing else on Campfire that I've tried has been, so far.....

Really weird! And irritating.

It is (supposedly) MY computer. She has two employer desktops and a laptop at work, plus a personal laptop and new iPad Pro of her own. Here. And two personal computers at our other home. And almost every time I've used this computer since I got it last week, she's had some work-related stuff on screen, which I don't mess with, except to go to "new page".

I am safe....I don't do the nasties. Tho we sometimes get some interesting stuff from somewhere, on our main email account - which I never use for two reasons. First because she accuses me of deleting stuff that she "needs", which I don't, so I avoid the issue altogether by just never going there. It is hers, and she can pass on anything I need to know. Or not. I DGAF. Self preservation at it's best. . She calls it passive aggressive.... I don't even answer emails addressed to me, unless she hands me the computer to do so. Then I hand it back.

The second reason is that she has inconsequential personal emails on there going back years- some of them 10 or more. Drives me insane! So I let her delete the 100 or so crap messages we get per day and whatever else she chooses, which is almost nothing.

I have my own almost never used iCloud email account. No nasty stuff there either.

On a related note, just this week we have started getting junk mail at our Kotzebue PO box, which we have had for 7 years, and NEVER used to contribute funds anywhere. We use the Soldotna PO box for that, which generally runs about 2/3 junk, including the begging letters. Our voting registration also remains down there, so it can't be that. So it has to be someplace that we order products from that has started sharing our Kotz mailing address. or just the internet..

The wife had logged in under "guest" and left the computer on without shutting down, just closing the lid, and that was what I was using. I had just flipped the cover up and went to it.

I shut it down while watching Seahawks, and when I booted up again... wunderbar! Later she came home and 'fessed up... ok - explained where I had erred.

Again.

MY login works fine, because I clicked "no" on parental block when setting up.

I hate internet....
