The current embarrassment only attended in 2011 in a sad endeavor to help his poll numbers for '12.

As a kid, this game always was a big time. The cadets and middies would arrive in Philadelphia on trains, form up and march to their hotels. I think I saw them march to the game/stadium as well. For two or three years, Army had Mr. Inside and Mr. Outside - Blanchard and Davis - and Tucker as quarterback - I think they ran a single wing. That bunch was hard to beat.

When in HS, I sold concessions at the game and there were the troops in their long overcoats and hats, doing lots of organized cheering. Most years it was unusually cold - I sold hot chocolate in cans and folks would buy a few cans, tell me not to open them, and put them in their pockets as warmers.

Good times, long gone.

Absolutely, we like anyone that doesn't like Navy.

The American people are the real winners of this game, regardless of which team scores the most points.

One thing's for sure, none of the players will be taking a knee during the national anthem.

I always get something in my eye at the end of the game when the teams sing their alma maters, first the loser then the winner, and each team gathers and stands for both out of respect. One of the classier spectacles in all of sports.

The $EC sure could take a lesson.

I'm a Johnie-come-lately Air Force guy, but in this game I always root for Navy.

Army stands a chance this year. Both Army and Navy have prolific ground games. Navy can pass when they need to. Army struggles with passing. Army has a very respectable defense this year. They have split games with common opponents.

A bit of back story on the picture. The West Point cadets have stolen Navy's mascot seven times. In 1972, a few stealthy cadets from West Point midnight-requisitioned Navy's mascot, "Billy", and moved him to a location outside of West Point. I took this picture in the West Point mess hall at the "football rally" a few day's before the football game at JFK stadium in Philly... Army won the game 23-15.

I sure wish Navy wasn't playing with their 3rd string quarterback right now. Not trying to bash the kid but it's his first start of the season and the normal guy literally has half the rushing yards of the season.

No kidding. I had no idea that they were that beaten up.

Very interesting game to watch (as was N.Dakota State - South Dakota State) - football doesn't have to involve the anointed teams to be fun and entertaining. (The only thing that I have against the Army-Navy broadcast is that between each and every play, we have to watch that damned commercial for the coffee Ninja with the woman who can't speak English.)

Donald Trump is a very smart man. For him to attend this game and even show up in the booth with Verne and company.

I'm impressed with his moves. Well calculated.

I don't watch much football, but this one was well worth it. Those young men are the United States of America.

Great game, indeed. Army deserved this one. And what a fittingly momentous way for Lundquist to go out.

That is what a football game is supposed to be: an entity standing all alone, no concern over other games played this season, no bowl positioning, no concern over artificial gods such as NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.
