We have 2' of snow on the ground and it just started raining.
Supposed to rain for the next two days with temps near 40.
This should get interesting.

climate change.

Overnights supposed to stay above freezing?

Interesting is an understatement otherwise.

Back in the old days, that phenomenon was known as "Winter". grin

It would be more interesting if that happened the last week of July.

Yep....we have some major flooding every few years.....
Naming it "Kori" makes it sound a lot more dramatic though....

The weather advisory we received:

A pacific storm will bring significant snow and ice to southeastern Oregon and southwestern Idaho late tonight through Thursday. The storm will also bring much warmer air and raise the snow level to 4000 to 5000 feet msl over portions of the area Wednesday and Wednesday night. Wind-sheltered valleys and part of the lower Treasure Valley will remain cold enough for freezing rain and up to a quarter inch of ice accumulation. Snow will change to rain at some lower elevations and along with a little snowmelt will result in more water and ice on the freezing cold ground. Winter weather advisory now in effect from 5 am Wednesday to 11am mst Thursday.

New fallen snow is pretty and fun to mush through in your vehicle. Ice is "different". Interesting to say the least. whistle

I'd be more fearful if it was Heidi.

Or Kim.

Kim would make me run....

Would be more dramatic if they used Stripper names, like Storm Tyfanny, Storm Chantal or Storm Trixxxie..

Most of it will blow over before it reaches the Twin Falls area. We might get a couple inches of snow and it's supposed to warm up over freezing for a few days.
It warmed up after the last big snow and melted enough to make a layer of ice when it cooled back down. My driveway has been nothing but ice for 2 weeks. It's been pretty rough on wildlife.

Same here on the ice. The major roads are clear but a lot of side roads in residential areas are nothing but solid ice 2-3" thick. If it wasn't so corrugated folks could play hockey on the street in front of my house.

But even this is still a lot better than those two lousy winters I spent in upstate NY. Ice storms and white outs were not unusual. I remember one fun morning driving to work on a solid and very smooth sheet of ice all the way. Upstate NY is hilly so lots of uphill and downhill grades. It took over an hour to do the 15 miles since my max speed was about 15 miles per hour and even then there were a few "interesting" moments rounding corners. wink

My driveway/parking lot at work has become an ice skating rink, essentially. Lots of fun trying to run forklifts or back in tanker trucks lately. eek
