Last Sunday a buddy of mine asked me how I found out about the 24 hour campfire. I told him I was surfing the web for 257 Roberts forums. And this website kept popping up. So I took a good look at the site and joined. By the way he calls this website "awesome!"
Which got me thinking.....How did you find out about this website?
Believe I was searching around for a used dozier knife and ended up here..
Another forum i'm on some of the members kept talking about it. Great site .
I found it before the internet.
looking for 8x57 load data.
Friends that were already members
Looking for Savage 99 info. Great site!
I heard about it on another forum. Came here as a member and never looked back. A really great bunch of folks here.
Looking for info on a 333 OKH.
AllOutdoors.com went toes-up in 1999, which lead me to shooters.com which folded tent in 2001. The shooters.com alum migrated to 24hourcampfire.com and I came with them.
Site continually came up in web searches when I was looking for info. I lurked for about a year. Then joined. Didnt post much the first few years.
Shaman suggested I might find survivors of D&DH.com here, after it's death of a thousand (per night) spam.
JB mentioned it in an article. That was enough to make me check it out.
I migrated off the old Shooters forum. If I remember correctly. It's been so long ago.
I also was originally looking for info on Savage 99's.
Mike
I came here from another forum, accuratereloading.com.
I found that place after seeing the idiots firing the 577 T-Rex in videos.
Looking for custom gun build information.
M.Stevenson told me about it
Was a member of Accurate Reloading website and it was mentioned there, with a warning that you better have your big boy pants on if you post over there...visited and never went back to AR....

Pretty much my story.
My girlfriend and I had sex on the beach in Port Saint Joe, but she was experiencing some sand issues.
I googled Sand in Vagina and found several threads by Brad on the 'Fire.
My memory isn't THAT good, pilgrim.
was looking for an unmoderated hook & bullet site so i could speak my peace without interference. a distant friend recommended this site.
I was troll hunting. It was pretty easy to find.
Shaman suggested I might find survivors of D&DH.com here, after it's death of a thousand (per night) spam.
This was where I pointed everyone in one of my last posts on that forlorn place. Funny, but most of them looked around and didn't stick. The main reason I will guess is that this is more of a haven for rifle loonies. There were a lot more bow hunters on D&DH.
I was a regular poster over on a Kentucky Hunting forum. Got banned because I had the audacity to post that the Black Lives Matter movement was flawed because it ignored the Black on Black murders, and I thought it was just a result of the DNA of Black people to go around killing one another. Another poster on that site then told me that the moderators were all big time Democrats, which I still can't understand why they would want to be associated with a hunting forum. He told me to try this place, as the Campfire wasn't anywhere as politically correct as most places were. He did warn me about a couple of regulars here who he said were the biggest a-holes on the internet. He was right about that, otherwise this is about best forum I've found.
SpecialK told me about it.
back in 2001......was looking for info on the 223 AI...
I was a member at opticstalk forum and they mentioned 24hcf and I have been here since early 2006
I was researching the plight of sheep in Montana on tha innanet.
JB mentioned it in an article. That was enough to make me check it out.
That's how I got here too.
Looking for Savage 99 info also.
Great site.
Can't remember that far back
I was researching the plight of sheep in Montana on tha innanet.
Is that the story about some of the Montana members fixation with sheep?
I had a reloading problem and was looking for some help.
I don't even remember anymore.
Several years ago when he quit writing for Handloader and Rifle I was wondering what had happened to JB so I searched his name and the "Fire" popped up.
I'm sure I was searching for some sort of shooting/reloading information and this popped up, but I have no idea what, specifically, I was looking for.
An internet search for a Leopard skin thong.
I, like a few others, was looking for info on Savage 99s.
AllOutdoors.com went toes-up in 1999, which lead me to shooters.com which folded tent in 2001. The shooters.com alum migrated to 24hourcampfire.com and I came with them.
This
I was searching for information on the Remington 700 Titanium, and I located some here. I was confused, though, that the synonym for “Remington” as used on this forum was “Sucks.” I had to PM a member to learn that it was not intended as a term of derision.

Well like Al Gore invented the internet, I created this site, but being the modest guy I am I let Rick bin take all the credit.
But really like Shaman. when those others folded I followed others to this site that Rick created for us, and it is a good site.
Thanks Rick
I was looking for information on Vanguard triggers.
My girlfriend and I had sex on the beach in Port Saint Joe, but she was experiencing some sand issues.
I googled Sand in Vagina and found several threads by Brad on the 'Fire.
I don't care what you say, that is some funny [bleep]!
Was a member of Shooters and it was folding, and
BigStick told me about Campfire.
Sure do miss his "colorful" posts!
Virgil B.
I was doing on a Google search on Bob Hagel and found something about him on the 'Fire. Joined shortly thereafter.

Ditto, Although I will have to take his word on the actual years.
PS. And… Steelhead for the win!
Researched ".270 Winchester", this was the first place that popped up.
Unexpectedly encountered a well-known gun writer living way out here. 'Twas obvious that he needed quite a bit of help and care, and did my best. He opined that my shooting/hunting interest would be well-served at the Campfire. That was Dr. Ken Howell.
I found it back when it ran 1X per month news print format style.....ink and paper
We would read it by candle light or kerosene lanterns.
Then we had to send in questions and replies via pen and paper. After you penned your question or responce you mailed it to Rick for .25 cents
After that it would be off to the outhouse for recycling/compost
I kept seeing the site pop up doing internet searches. Lurked for a little while and then joined.
To find sites interesting to you use the search:
www.boardreader.com
Was doing an internet search on "if the 223AI was enough".
I haven't left since......
Spending a long winter night looking up 308 Win for moose.
I was researching the plight of sheep in Montana on tha innanet.
Is that the story about some of the Montana members fixation with sheep?
Perzactly.
Googled "thiefs" and 24CF was listed on top.
Thread on the Small Game forum at AR about cats got me banned, I guess I was laffin' too much?
So I wound up here. Don't laff at all here. Really. Would I lie about that?
My girlfriend and I had sex on the beach in Port Saint Joe, but she was experiencing some sand issues.
I googled Sand in Vagina and found several threads by Brad on the 'Fire.
My wife just loves Port Saint Joe.
I joined in looking for some .460 Rowland shooters other than Glock people. Found a few. Now I am hooked.
I was over on the Shotgunworld.com forum, researching a Superposed shotgun I traded for. This site was cross referenced and I've spent more time here than there.
DF
Northern_Dave and I were having a face to face discussion about something and I think I mentioned something I had read on AT.
He then pointed me to this forum and his Birth of a Deer Camp thread.
Which got me thinking.....How did you find out about this website?
Kind of a long story ... Jeff_O told me about it. Flame away!
Tom
JB mentioned it in an article. That was enough to make me check it out.
This!
Was looking for pics. of ass shot bears and uber Avalanches and here I am.
I was at a midget whore house just outside of Havre, Montana, and the proprietor referred me to this sight while he steamed cleaned the next girl up.
My girlfriend and I had sex on the beach ...
Those watered-down drinks are terrible.
JB mentioned it in an article. That was enough to make me check it out.
Same here. It is JB's fault.
Thank you, John
So long ago I have forgotten, of course I can't remember what I had for breakfast either......
The shooters.com alum migrated to 24hourcampfire.com and I came with them.
That's my story too
I don't even remember anymore.

I knew Rick before he started this website

Hope you didn't lay on the pillows!
You needed me.... lol..
Can't remember ...
looking for 8x57 load data.

A couple of internet searches on the 9.3x62 brought me here. Found lots of information on things that interested me so decided to hang for a while.
Was on another site associated with Petersen's Hunting back in the day, and found it interesting but rather boring due to lack of depth.
Read about this one in an article by JB. Switched and never went back.
Sold a scope to a member here on on a separate state specific forum, he told me to check it out. Signed up immediately and have been enjoying it since.

This.

THIS is the win!
Like several others, I was researching Savage 1899s, IIRC.
Researching optics(OpticsTalk?) and asked someone if there was a rifle related version.
One of my sons told me about it.
my first post here was about my Savage 99
I was researching the value of gold coins...
I was directed to this site googling info for Savage 99's and was hooked by Bristoe's storytelling. Been lurking for years.
I was at a midget whore house just outside of Havre, Montana, and the proprietor referred me to this sight while he steamed cleaned the next girl up.
That was you???
Good to hear from you again!
From a link in a post on The Duck Hunter's Refuge

Same here. Loved the humor and candor.
As others have mentioned, migrated here from the Coffee Shop and Shooters when they went "south".
I was looking for a particular hard to find book. A google search took me to an old post on the classifieds. I joined and emailed the guy...he still had it, and I bought it.
This is the best classifieds on the internet bar none....buying or selling.
Surfing the web for load data on the .30-40 Krag.
Ed
I knew Rick before he started this website
Yet He still let you in?
Leonten, Got here in Jan of 01. Was on another web site (Shooters) that was quickly going down the "pooper". Great site, in spite of all the "deplorables" here! memtb
I have been a member of multiple outdoor forums since the inception of such. A friend and I were having a couple of beers in a bar. He too is an outdoor forum user. We were discussing the anonymous bullies and a-holes that frequent forums and how they behave while protected by their anonymity. He told me that if you want to see a bunch of those that I should go to this forum. I did. This was a decade and a half ago. He was right. Luckily, those individuals, as prolific as they are here, are the exception rather than the rule.
Looking for Savage 99 info. Great site!
Lucky for you benchman, he's here.
I was swapping load data on AI cartridges and the new RUM cartridges with Larry, aka Big Stick, on the Shooters forum. He left and came here so I followed to continue our conversations.
It's still the only forum I frequent. Just have to overlook the ones who think they are still in High School.
I heard about it on another forum. Came here as a member and never looked back. A really great bunch of folks here.
Same
Tho I wanted to tell you I created it and that dang Sysop enacted a hostile takeover and installed that puppet Rick Bin
He's such a yes man to Sysop
I had come across the site, just a couple times previously while 'researching' gear. Then in 2010, I was on the hunt for a Bushnell Elite 2.5-16x scope at a certain price point and the Free Classifieds sucked me in for good. Only thing that's seemed weird are the few guys that have just absolutely freaked out and go to extreme name calling over rather trivial comments on chit like floods&waterfowl or Weaver Top-Mount rings. LOL - Whatever dudes.
