Cannot cut and paste on this pos tablet...
Judge Neil Gorsuch, President Trump’s pick to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, faced a critical blow on Thursday as Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) said he would join with other Democrats in attempting to filibuster the nomination — a move that could complicate his confirmation and lead to a total revamp of how the U.S. Senate conducts its business.

Since last year’s elections, Democrats have threatened to force Trump’s Supreme Court nominees to clear procedural hurdles requiring at least 60 senators to vote to end debate and proceed to a confirmation vote. Republicans are eager to confirm Gorsuch before an Easter recess next month, but with no Democrat expressing support for Gorsuch, they are threatening to change Senate rules to ensure the judge’s swift confirmation by allowing Supreme Court picks to be confirmed with a simple majority vote.

On Thursday, Schumer warned that they should focus instead on changing Trump’s nominee.

“If this nominee cannot earn 60 votes — a bar met by each of President Obama’s nominees, and George Bush’s last two nominees — the answer isn’t to change the rules. It’s to change the nominee,” he said.

Among recent Supreme Court nominees, President Barack Obama’s choices of Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan each received more than 60 votes. Samuel A. Alito Jr., chosen by President George W. Bush, was confirmed 58-42 in 2006, but 72 senators voted to defeat a possible filibuster.
They have been saying that since he was nominated.

Go nuclear.

Or what?
Schumer and the other communists can go suck a big one.
Nice pic
IB, thanks!
They need this vote shoved up their _ _ _!

I can't wait till their crying gets so bad even folks that claim to follow what the dems do hears.
EFF Schumer..
schumer is a pos.
My guess is Schumer is very confident Republicans can't muster the votes to change the rules to a simple 51 vote majority for SCOTUS nominees.
Your guess be wrong.
How good is your math?

Republicans have 51 votes in the Senate, they can afford 1 defection, and 1 only.

How confident are you with;

McCain
Graham
Collins
Murkowski

To stand firm in changing the filibuster rule of 60 votes for nominees to the SCOTUS.

Simple majority is all that's needed for confirmation.

60 is needed for cloture - to end debate if filibustered.
They will not get 60 to end the filibuster
There's no working with democrats. The democrats want the destruction of America so unless that's what republicans are willing to work with and towards there will be no compromise. Go nuclear and use every tool possible to relegate the democrats to insignificant oblivion. I truly hate liberals and don't care one iota for their feelings. F'ck them and their hatred of freedom.
Half a dozen democrats will vote to confirm.
Schmucky likes to bluster - not sure he can force all of the Dems into line on this one, as future issues are at stake. Games now - reality later.
When is questioning/debate over and the vote to be had?
No, there is no turning back on this political war at this point.

Manchin[D,WV] has been more R than D since his state turned for Trump.

On point and spot on. My sentiments exactly!
There are 23 democrat senate seats up for grabs in 2018. More than enough to skim off 9 or 10.

This^ As some interviewee was pointing out the other day on talky-radio, the Dems would be foolish to push this. Consider what will happen in the next year or two with the likelihood of another opening. If the nuclear option is available, Trump could very easily appoint some ultra-conservative which the Dems could not block. Gorsuch is probably as fair and balanced as they can hope for at this point.

Right now is the judiciary committee hearing. At the conclusion they will vote on advancing the nominee to the full senate for confirmation.

That's when a filibuster may occur. Or, just a vote. Gorsuch will be confirmed.

Schumer has stated he will vote no but had no reason other than conservative Trump nominee I guess.
Sitka deer: Every morning I wake up and thank God that Donald J. Trump is the President of the United States of America - and NOT the decitful criminal bitch hillary rodhamankles clinton!
We (true traditional valued, pro-capitalist, pro-Second Amendment Americans!) dodged a bullet when the hildabeast was defeated.
Thank you God!
schumer is less respected by me than lawn fudge in my waffle stompers.
He is a worthless, obstructionist, power mad, anti-American socialist twit and I could care less what he says or does.
I am looking forward to Supreme Court Justice Gorsuch!

They just need to keep talking about the "Bidden Rule" and let the Democrats own their own legacy.

It would not surprise me in the least to see a GOP senator fail to support Gorsuch. I have no faith whatsoever in ANY elected official in Washington.

You are correct. The left has declared war on the Constitution. They will lie, cheat, obfuscate, steal, manufacture evidence, anything that will further their agenda and allow them to regain political power. The majority of the news media are their knowing and willing accomplices. The future of this great country hangs in the balance. Truth, justice and respect for the law will eventually prevail but it's going to be a long and (figuratively) bloody battle. Thank God for President Trump who will not back down from this treasonous filth.

With the Left / Progressives / Socialists / Communists / Bolsheviks / Democraps ... call them whatever you want:

" ... The End Justifies The Means ..."

And

" ... Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely ..."
2018 will thin the Dem crowd even more if they try this chit

You mean like from AZ?

Schumer is a fine candidate for a nice piece of hickory.
These confirmation hearings are about 99% for [bleep] to posture and pretend they are earning their salaries and perks.

Some of them use it to display their stupidity - like DF presenting "super-precedent". WTF is that???? Then castigating G for - basically dodging questions -. Funny, I ain't too smart, but I understood him perfectly, and he didn't dodge anything. A little lawyereez, sure. But plain enough.

We all know G is in.
Do you think the threat of the Nuclear Option will force the dems hands? I can't imagine either party wanting the opposition to use it.
For the sake of the midterm senate races, put the dems on record. ;-{>8
Filibustering Forsuch is a serious, rookie level blunder.
I agree with oldtrapper - I want to see them on record.

Even though I know how our NM liberal contingent will vote.
Pearce is the only shred of decency NM has in the legislature.

You are correct and both Schumer and McConnel know this.

McConnel will not attempt a Nuclear Option vote as it will not pass thanks to McCain, Graham, Collins, Murkowski.

Schumer holds all the card here thank to the RINO Trump-Haters in the Senate.

I am thinking a chipped stone and a piece of hickory would be a better option.

You're too kind... I'd nuke every one of the bastids if I ever got the chance....

They will simply have to change the law to permit a straight up and down vote.
AcesNeights: I am in agreement 100% with your post!

As an interesting aside I saw the blithering idiot lindsey graham on TV this morning BRAGGING how he had voted for ALL of barack hussein obamas Supreme Court and Appeals Court nominees (including sotomayor and kagan) and he felt the demonrats should return his gentlemanly gesture!
I mean I actually burst out laughing at the stupidity, ignorance and pathetic naivete this intellectual idiot constantly displays!
senator graham actually thinks that the demonrats "will play fair" this dippschidt has NO idea that the demonrats are a disciplined and relentless enemy of capitalism and America!
I actually do not expect the dimwit dumschidt graham to learn ANYTHING from this latest example of demonrat tactics.
lindsey graham and john mcCain should both be replaced ASAP.
There seems to be no end of rinos willing to stab the Republican electorate in the back at EVERY possible chance they get?
Sad.

That's how it's done now. The issue is ending the debate/filibuster to get there.

Your math is wrong. They can afford 2 defections which would make it 50/50 and Pence would break the tie.
