Almost cheating..

They do make some remarkable baits. But the prices are equally remarkable. You'd have to swallow hard to tie one of those one knowing the first toothy critter or snag would take it away from you.

Rapalas cost about as much now.

I pack mask and fin on the canoe, nowadays.

I did not see prices listed.

I guess if I have to ask.......

$9.99 to 12.99 at Cabelas for the few freshwater lures I saw.

The guy wearing a hospital mask was a hoot. Instant credibility.

Soft baits have come a ways(in price!) since the old Sassy Shad!

Sure looks like a pinfish to me.

Just about any fishing show you turn on these days is touting LiveTarget lures.

Edited to add:

Swing by Bass Pro on the way home this afternoon to pick up some more Beetle spins. We've been losing a few up at Loxahatchee past couple weeks.

Figured I'd check out those LiveTarget swimbaits while I was there. There must have been seven or eight J Hooks stripped with the labels on them for those pinfish. All I could find were 3 finger mullet. Must be working pretty good.

They were $8.99.

I've caught a lot of bass on their Frog Hollow Body. Academy has them for around $6 bucks. http://www.livetargetlures.com/freshwater/frog-hollow-body

I'll have to give their Sunfish Hollow Body model a try. That blue Pumkinseed version looks killer!

Pretty soon you'll have to be careful that the fish cops don't include your lures in your bag limit.

I'd try one of the fake piggy perch. IMHO the only bait better than a huge chunk of bloddy Bonito for huge 20+pound Red Snapper is a live piggy perch...... of course that's assuming you can get it past the AJ's!

Funny thing about those Bobos. Everybody bitches about those bloody footballs when they get them on the line while fishing for another species. But, nobody has anything bad to say about using their body parts for bait. grin

Belly strips off bonitas will darn near make the angels sing sometimes. grin
