A local HS Trap team is being barred from having their photo in their yearbook.

The PC bastards have infiltrated even the red county's in this state.

All this lib crap to control the thoughts. Never publish that guns can be fun.
Disgusting!
If they don't publish pictures with guns, guns don't exist?
is that the message?
I hope you all take charge of that up there and raise a big stink.
Another example of academic insanity.
This country has no shortage of educated fools.
That is indeed outrageous. Hopefully the community will rise up.

On the bright side CONGRATULATIONS for still having a high school trap team!
I sent an e mail I was polite and suggested that this team deserves to be recognized for their contribution to the Big Lake Schools, for their participation in a sport that is an Olympic sport.
Congrats to Big Lake HS on a 60-member trap team.
Pitiful. Plum pitiful

Time to fire the school board

Hello,

Since your decision to single out a certain group of students has now gone national, I assume you might value input from far and wide.

My suggestion for your yearbook photo policy is to suggest that you avoid publishing pictures of anyone who isn't LGBTQ, at least 6.25% Native American, 0% Scandinavian, and blue-eyed.

Why do you support a group whose pictures are 'published' nationally (worldwide) when you refuse to allow them to be pictured in your yearbook? It is little wonder that public schools find themselves being disparaged by many!

Big Lake. Big Litter-Storm.

Big Lake. Big Litter-Storm.
Posted on April 27, 2017 by Mitch Berg

The fastest-growing school sport in Minnesota today is trap-shooting. All over greater Minnesota, even into the outer Metro, trap teams are popping up, and drawing all kinds of students into the shooting sports. The growth in terms of numbers and percentage is overwhelming; we’ve got regular commenters on this blog who can go into the specifics, but it’s been pretty meteoric over the past five to ten years.

But they never promised us a rose garden, as they say.

The Big Lake school district is refusing to allow the Big Lake High School Trap Team’s official team photo into the school’s annual for this year.

Because never mind the breakdown of the nuclear farmily, or a popular culture that glorifies violence to those who are least able to process what “violence” actually is and who have no concept of the permanence of “mortality” (teenage boys), marketed with slick cynicism by a Hollywood advertising machine that has no soul. And never mind the fact that Big Lake is well within the part of Minnesota that has a murder rate roughly half that of Norway. Or the fact that while trap shotguns are, technically, weapons, the sport isn’t about violence – certainly nothing compared to the martial overtones and actual pummeling of high school football.

No. Apparently photos of guns are enough to make people violent.

“It’s policy”, says the district – not allowing “weapons” into the yearbook.

But a search of district policies shows nothing about weapons. You can’t bring a gun to school (which may be why Big Lake has never had a school shooting? I don’t know), but there is nothing in the district’s policy about pictures of skeet guns in the hands of a school-sponsored team that is participating in a legal, school sanctioned event.

Anyway – the students on the trap team are doing their best to whip up a litter-storm of Biblical proportion, and I’m going to do my best ton contribute to it.

Polite, measured, reasonable phone calls and emails to be Athletic Director, the Principal and the Superintendent are in order.

As Breitbart said, politics is downstream of culture. It’s battles like this – where the idiots of our society try to de-normalize conservative values – that are where the war for the culture take place every day…

…and where you and me can actually affect them.

I’m off to kick up that biblical litter-storm.
and to think i took a springfield trapdoor with ammo to school for show and tell.
in california!
When I went to school in MN we brought & put our guns in our lockers during hunting season.
My how that state has changed and not for the better.

It's MN - so what else is new???

What's especially irritating is they began inter-school trap leagues maybe a dozen years ago and it's been wildly popular. The kids love it and the firearms training that goes along with it is priceless.. But - Schools-be-schools and they're obsession with banning ANY and ALL things "gun" is insane...
Sent to the Super.

The trap club members are probably the most responsible students in the system, and one will not allow their picture in the year book?

There's nothing illegal with firearms. Actually their possession and use is a right in this nation.

Please rethink this.

If anyone here is local with that situation, keep us up on the doings please.

Read this article. It explains specifically how our schools have been communized, not least through the assiduous efforts of the communist, Barack Hussein Obama.

My email to them:

"Dear Mr. Westerberg,

Please have your Board reconsider the decision to exclude the picture of Big Lake HS Trap Team from publication in the school's yearbook.

They are participating in a school sanctioned competitive event, and there is no egregious behavior exhibited that warrants exclusion from a yearbook designed to celebrate school activities.

If the rules are such that even a photo of firearms in the hands of a school sanctioned shooting team needs to be excluded I respectfully suggest your school board change that rule immediately.

I'm not a resident of your school district, this decision to exclude the team photo is now a national (worldwide?) news item and it is a concern of mine that these kids get all the recognition they deserve along with their schoolmates, faculty, and administrative staff, as has been done for many years in many school districts across our nation.

Thanks in advance for your consideration,

Geno

The policy has been amended and the photo will be allowed in the yearbook. Thank you.

laugh

(It's amazing how quickly people get their tails in gear when their servers start smoking! wink )
Too damn white.

Now, recruit a couple Somalians or illegals to the team and that photo would be on the cover of the yearbook.

That's pretty much what I thought...Plus; what if one of 'em identified as transgender? They'd make the book for sure. Talk about insanity.....
fuggin awesome!
Another win!
Thanks for the support.
This spread like wildfire on social media. These kids and the ones that follow them deserve it. This is becoming a very big sport around here. These kids are the future of the shooting sports and hunting. I was up at Reed's Gun Fair this past weekend to shoot some factory guns. There were lots of parents shopping for guns for their kids. Every manufacture had their "micro" models for them to shoot.

The formal request on a policy amendment was approved by administration on Thursday. Here is the Policy Amendment:

All photos, written text, and artwork must conform to school policies and are subject to approval by the yearbook advisor and/or administration. Photos and artwork that violate school policy, display firearms, weapons, drugs, alcohol, inappropriate gestures or poses, and revealing or obscene clothing may be edited or excluded without permission or notification. Exception given to our school-sponsored trap-shooting team which will be allowed to have team pictures in the yearbook, team poster displayed in the school, and any approved photos taken by yearbook staff. These photos would include their firearms.
Sadly, the dukes hafta always be up.

True but now so are our's. This is a perfect example of how we don't need to be shouted down by a vocal minority. I think we have been conditioned so long to shrug shoulders and retreat to bitch about what's wrong with the world. It had gotten to the point we felt powerless. The left has long overstepped there bounds, I don't think they are used to a little pushback...and God knows they need it.

Keep up the vigilance on the local fronts.

I'm happy this situation has turned out the way it did. However, down the road your task is much more daunting. You, and others have to take the school board head on and vote them out of a job. Get your current members gone and your choices in office. One by one, but get it done.
Graduated from there back in 85. Glad they let em in!

Very true. The communistnazi liberals never, ever, disengage.

Defeat them on an issue and they merely back off, regroup, and come at you from a different direction.

Happy ending, but more battles coming.
Lets be ready.
