I missed on the Rugers but grabbed a synthetic Vangard in 308 and a wood stocked Vangard Deluxe in 30/06 for a total of $575 before tax. Sold a pre-'64 Model 70 in 30/06 with a chopped stock and poor bore to my gunsmith that covered the purchase and then some. Might sell the pre-64 in 308 too if the 308 Vangard shoots well.
I only support LGS, even if the walmart guns are 50% off
Not me. The local gun shop nearest me is a joke, and the pawn shop that has a ton of guns is run by the trashiest bunch of riff-raff I've ever seen. I have bought several guns from Walmart and will continue to do so, if they have a sale on, and something I want.
Now, having said that, Walmart rarely has anything that is of interest to me. So, even if a Savage 30-06 is 75% off, I'm just not interested. Same way with the Mossberg shotguns, and most everything else. But, I'm heading out in a few to check it out. You never know what you may find. When they sold out of AR-15's a few years ago, I got 2 for 50% off, and missed a Sig in 308 by 15 minutes at 50% off as well. I'm still pizzed at losing that deal.
No. Each July they close out their slow sellers to make room for the exciting new stuff they are bringing in for hunting season. I knew when I saw the Vanguards come in that they would make the clearance. It took them 2 years. I would expect to see the Henry big bore lever guns to make the list next year. They start the closeout with a nice discount in July, then about this point in August they reduce the price to half of the original price.
Has anyone been able to get a decent group out of a mini 14?
Nope. I have owned 2. One would group decent with the factory mag, but would go straight to hell with an aftermarket. Withe apologies to Kimber, mini-14s may be the quirkiest guns in existence.

I had a factory stainless folder in the 1980s. I could never get it to shoot well even with a scope. I got a 1986 Colt Hbar and that sent the mini packing. The AR15 is simply a better buy as far as functionality.
I bought a shotgun at walmart a bit ago for $79. It was $109, marked down too $99. I had to wait for 1/2 hr for a manager to show up to do the paper work, so he took $20 bucks off! I've spent $79 on a lot worse stuff than a somewhat functioning 12ga shotgun.
I'm not a Mini 14/30 fan, but someone here, on another thread posted about a "stabilizer" for Minis that may tighten up groups. Here's the LINK for those that may want to look into it:
Just got back from the 2 local Walmarts. The Weatherby Vanguard synthetic stock was 249, in calibers 243, 270, 308, and 30-06. The wood stocked model was a $100 more. Very, very good buys. I just don't need a rifle in those calibers, as I've already got them, except for a 30-06 and I have no desire to own one. I almost bought one, thinking I'd get $350 for it come deer season. Still might go back and snag one, as I'm mulling that over.
They had some other stuff, but the Weatherby and the Ruger Ranch rifle was their best buys. They had a Savage Axis marked down pretty low, but it would have had to have been free before I'd ben interested.
Prices were not changed at my store on the price tags, but they would ring up at the reduced price. Downside is that the electronic maching they have to do gun sales on has been broken since June and they cannot do gun sales. Layaway cannot be done until August 31, so there is no way for me to buy one, or hold it.
Appreciate the heads up on this, let my son know and he just bought a Vanguard in .243 for his daughter at the Walmart in Ardmore Ok. Last one they had and it had a few scratches on it. they knocked off an addit'l 10% and he was out the door at $248.00. Smoking Deal!! Thanks Paul!!

This is great. I am glad to see some of my friends I have never met scoring a good deal.

Checked out the two local and the only thing they had marked down was pink camo Savage Axis and a Remington 770. Good prices but nothin I need. Was hoping for a Mini 14 for $399

Very very good info, Paul. Thanks.
Last year I don't think they had any. In 2015 this was a post I made on another forum:
"Got a 10/22 stainless for $124 (50th Anniversary). The guy ahead of me got a DPMS AR15 for $250. Another guy got a Savage 17HMR for $82".
In 2016 They had Marlin 45-70 Guide Gun and the long barrel 45-70 for $299. They had Ruger Americans for $179 or thereabouts. There were a few more in '16 as well.
My nephew in law went to Walmart and bought an 870 synthetic 12 gauge for $139. Got to me to thinking that I'd seen one in the rack when I was there this morning, so I went back after lunch. The one that they had was a wood stock, not on sale.
BUT......I was in a gun buying mood, and ended up buying a Weatherby Vanguard for $263 out the door. Also did what I said I wasn't going to do in an earlier post, got an '06. I will hang onto until deer season and sell it to one of the local Mennonites. They like 30-06's and they'll hopefully like my price.
This Walmart doesn't have the selection of guns that some of the other ones have, and I'm glad they don't because I would have been too tempted.
Thanks for the heads up, my son went today and bought the last Weatherby Vanguard Deluxe with the walnut stock they had, it was 349.00 and in 30.06 Not a caliber he needed, but too nice a rifle to let go for that money. They had numerous synthetic Weatherby's, (249.00)but all 30.06 also, many Axis-and a few others marked down, plus a ton of shotguns. We gave a bunch of friends phone calls and sent them looking also. Thanks again.
Paul, which Wal Mart? I'm not far from you in Kenner.
Clyde
BLG, what are you interested in? The nearest store to you that carries guns is Boutte. I have not been in that one. This morning Galliano had Mini14s and Glossy Vanguards. Galliano was still showing the original price, so it's your best bet. Raceland had synthetic Vanguards. Both the Houma stores had some yesterday.
Our Walmart has been going through a remodel. I was in a few days ago and I asked the clerk if their gun sales computer was back up and I was told it was not. I certainly hope when their computer is up and running some of these sales are still going on.
I checked three Walmart's today. Only one had a "national clearance" price posted. It was a synthetic Vanguard for $243 in .243 Win. The other two stores had no idea what I was talking about "a national firearms sale." One of the stores had a Vanguard glossy wood for $657 and the other had the same rifle "on sale" for $465. Didn't check what cartridge.

But did you have them scan it for a price? My local store didn't know either, but when they scanned the mini 14 (sticker price was $767) it rang up at $399. The problem was their electronic gun sales machine was down and has been down since June. No idea when it can be fixed. People have been there 3 or 4 times to try but it still doesn't work. Lots of guns in the back room too, they said but they cant sell them. Store wont let them sell it the old fashioned way using paper forms even though several of the staff were trained on them before the electronic machine came in. So there was no way I could give them any money today. Layaway starts on August 31 and I could put it on layaway then, if they are still on sale.
The store where the Vanguard glossy wood stock the guy said another store manager had come by earlier that day to ask if they had a national sale on going. He told me he did scan the box. However, I'm going to go back tomorrow and have him scan the box "again" while I wait. $465 is pretty good anyway for a Vanguard Sport 2 and if it is a .243, I may buy it anyway for my grandson for Christmas.

It has been many years since I managed at Wal-Mart. It has been fewer years since I managed at Academy. The way it works at those (and I believe most) large chain retail outlets is like such. The buyers make decisions on what the stores will carry. The chain buys them in bulk and ships them out to the stores. Corporate monitors sales via computer inventory. Stores can too. When corporate detects a slow seller they will phase it out. They will send the stores a computer generated mark down sheet. That tells the stores to change the shelf label. The price generated by scanning the bar code on the box is controlled by corporate, not the individual store.
Wal-Mart corporate has issued the mark down and changed the price the bar code will scan at the register. If the store scans the previous markdown label they created, I am pretty sure it will give the price shown on the label the store created. I don't think either Wal-Mart or Academy issues regional mark downs, though they could have started since I was last there. It is not at all uncommon for the hourly employees and even the management team to not fully understand the process.
That's it in a nutshell. There may be someone with more recent experience than me who can tie up any loose ends in my comments. Calling it a corporate markdown is a better way to describe it than a national sale.

My local WM told me today they cannot sell guns either because the background check computer is down.
Stopped in at Wally's Ontario Or. They have the Savage axis at $199, Savage 110 in wood for $344 (reg price), Vanguard Syn in 270 and 308 for $249, and Vanguard walnut in 243 for $349.
There is no way I could pass up that 243.
But Oregon State Police have me on hold AGAIN. Three years ago it took six mo to the day for approval to purchase a Ruger 10-22. One would think I would learn to keep my gun purchases in Idaho where the "instant check" is instant....and they do not charge you ten bucks for the privilege.
Sales clerk at Wally's said they would hold the rifle until approval. But I am not going to hold my breath. If I can find one in Idaho tomorrow, I will buy it. Do not particularly care what the chamber is, as long as it is not a 308 . I could use a 25-06, a 270, or a 280, or 7-08, or 22-250 or even possibly a 7RM or 300WM.
Lots of grandkids starting to get old enough for a hunting rifle of their own. A couple of the boys are going to be 5' 6" linebackers. They will be able to handle the magnums.
I woke up this morning with buying another rifle the furthest thing from my mind. Then I read this thread and thought it was too good to be true. I decided to make the half hour drive into town to see if there was an outside chance it was true. Long story short I came home with the only synthetic Weatherby Vangaurd left in Great Falls, MT. I half wanted a .243 anyway so it worked out well. On a side note they didn't have any rifles marked down. I told them to use their little scanner hand-held and see what happens. Sure enough all the guns listed at the beginning of this thread were supposed to be reduced. The staff and management had no clue. In fact the manager jokingly asked me if I wanted a job as I knew more about their gun department than they did. (Her words not mine)I politely declined. Bottom line I paid exactly $249.00 (no tax in MT) for a brand new Weatherby Vanguard. That is a great deal. Thank you to the person that originally posted this! For anyone in the Great Falls area that wants in, there are 3 Deluxe walnut high gloss Vanguards left for $349.00 each even though they are tagged as $499.99 at the older Walmart.. The new Walmart doesn't have anything.
I am glad to see all of y'all getting in on the deal. I have absolutely no need for another gun other than the Mini14 I bought. Even as good as I am at the mental gymnastics that have brought other unneeded guns into the house, I can't make the stretch. I probably should get my grandson a 308 Vanguard. They'll probably be gone by the time I decide to get him one.
I'm gonna tell him the only caliber available is .270 He should be able to handle it with his breaking beans limp wrist. Might have to get him a syn stock one, be a little bit less heavy for him to carry.
I stopped after work. Couldn't get anyone to help me. I walked behind the counter in an effort to learn more and to attract attention. It worked halfway. I called back about 8pm and was lucky enough to get a woman from our church on the line. Told her my earlier predicament and she said she'd line me up so I went back out. I looked hard at an 870 Remington for 139 but passed. Took a Vanguard in .308 off their hands. The guy who got it out of the back for me said it was the last one in .308 and had he known about the sale, he'd have bought it himself.
I think this will be a great little gun. 24" barrel, three position safety, trigger is silky smooth. Fantastic deal.
I just checked our WM came home with a Deluxe 30-06 for 349. They had a 243 in the rack. I had to call an associate and he was evasive. I asked him to go to the back and check and see what calibers they had in stock. He said he thought there was a 30-06. I followed him back and he didn't see me. He called someone and told them "some guy just bought your 06" So if you go you have to ask them and have them check. They handle deals like this like they did the 22 LR shortage. Best deal I have ever gotten on a gun. Thanks for letting us know.
Just picked up a 30-06 synthetic vanguard for the $249 price. It will probably stay in the box for a few years but at that price I am fine with that. Took filling out the paperwork 3x and close to an hour for the people at walmart to figure it out. Wish they had a deluxe, would've gotten one for sure.
Same story, it was marked at $399 or $449 or something, scanned it and it came back as $249. They had no idea.
Is there a way to find out which walmarts sell guns? nothing online that I could see, and the 2 ones close to where I live in Houston don't sell guns, just ammo and airrifles.

Same for Sportsmans Warehouse as explained to me two weeks ago in Kelso, Washington. Had a flaming deal on a Christensen carbon fiber lightweight 300 wsm. threaded barrel end with cap > 1299$. I asked could I get one back in Louisiana for that when I got back home, nope and just as you explained above.
Every Walmart around these parts have those synthetic Vanguards for $249.
Where's all the joe magnum gun snobs at on this thread?
The ones that always say "blah blah blah walmart guns are made on 3rd shift, special runs just for walmart trailer park inbreds, etc" ?
You have to look real close on the box.......it will say..... Made in Chinese Weatherby Plant.......Shift # 3.......For Sale In American Walmart Stores Only.
Got a syn Vanguard 243 for $249 after work today. Local Wally’s still have a few Weatherby’s. The Rugers were not heavily stocked and the few available went quick. Thanks for the heads up!
As I posted above, the synthetic Vanguards at the Altoona Pa Walmart were marked on close out at 349.99 so I told them to scan the box....scanned the box, came up at 349.99. Told them that it's a national clearance and they should be 249.99 and that Duncansville had them for that as I had just been on the phone with them. Nope, they said they can't price match yada yada yada.....
So I left and drove over to Duncansville (which isn't very far) and by the time I got there the people at the sports counter told me Altoona Walmart had called them and told them to check their prices!!!! (Pricks)
Anyway the attractive sweet lady in Duncansville says, we're going to check the box but we have them priced at 249.99 so that's what you get them for (the box rang up the same). I said thank you very much!!
I don't know that I have ever been so successful as an enabler. I am beaming with pride!
Congratulations, and thanks for the tip. You got me to pry open my wallet and spring for a Howa uh I mean Weatherby Vanguard 30-06.....I guess its going to be my foul weather rifle or something as it is my first and only rifle with a synthetic stock. I ran into pretty much the same situation as JTman. First WM had a synthetic stock model for $349 and said that was the sales price. Second WM had them marked at $249 and were happy to take my money. You can't even find a beater 30-30 for that price around here.
Yesterday I scored a Ruger Mini-14 for $399 at one Walmart near me, and today I scored a Vanguard Synthetic 243 Win for $249 at another one in the other direction . Both within 10 minutes of my house.
I'm normally not a Walmart shopper but for those prices I took a look. However, both NICS transactions took close to 1 hour each, and they are computerized, so that was a factor too in why not to shop there regularly. By not knowing what to do next or really what they are doing in total, Walmart makes it painful for everyone. But the close-out prices were good. JMO
I said screw Oregon and drove over to Caldwell Idaho today. The Caldwell Walmart did not have the clearance prices on the tags, but the rifle did ring up correctly.
I bought the wood stocked 243. They also had a wood 30-06 and a synthetic 270.
So, if OSP ever approves the transaction, I will have two. But I have lots of grand kids waiting.
Oh, total time spent in the Idaho store was about 30 minutes.
I snagged the last .243 Vanguard for $249. While I was doing the paperwork, a guy walked up to the counter and said to the clerk, "did you sell the .243?" , The clerk said, "Yeah I just sold it." The guy looks at me and asks with a smile, "Did you buy it?" I admitted I did and it was going to be a Christmas present for a grandson. He kept kicking himself for not buying it earlier that morning. The last Mini-14 was sold just before I arrived, as were the other Weatherby's. This was the fifth WM I checked since yesterday. The guy told me that each store sets their own prices, depending on past sales of any particular rifle. For example, I went back to a WM I had visited yesterday and they had a Mini 14 on the shelf, but re-scanned it and it was not on sale. I asked them to please make sure they had updated their hand scanner with new prices. The girl checked the scanner, and it was updated to today, so that particular store was selling their Mini-14s at full retail. No markdown. The glossy wood Weatherby was marked down to $449, but not the $349 that has been mentioned in this thread, so I let it go.
I have 3 Walmarts coming up today and tomorrow. Lol
West Post Falls ID, nada. Read Rem 700 comment went back to counter and the jerkoffs want to argue about scanniing anything. The tag says "associate scan here" and he's like I don't have anywhere to scan. Lol. An Axis came up higher than tagged. Moving on.
Missoula has a wood stocked Vanguard 308 for $349. Couldn't see any other Japguards. Axis 308 package camo $199.
Tried to buy a Vanguard here locally tonight only to find the store has not been able to process firearms transactions for at least a month. Computer is down and no one at local management or district is able to get it fixed. And a case full of guns. Including the one I wanted. Called the next closest to me and asked them if they had one i 243 and she said : selling the last one now. Only 270 and 30-06 left. Don't need another of those. Sent a nasty gram to corporate and told them what I thought. Now I wonder if I will get an answer....since no one upstream of district seems to care.......oh well....I don't NEED another gun....no really...........
I got my son a Vanguard 243 today for $249.00 What a deal. Thanks for the tip. It will come with a life time of memories thanks to those who spread the word. I went to 3 diff Walmart as everyone had snatched them up but I finally found one.
I looked but never saw a mini 14 in any store. I wonder if they were hid in the back. All of the stores had the prices advertised and clearly marked on sale.
I went back to Walmart yesterday evening just to see what was left. I ended up bringing home another one of the $249 Vanguards, this one in 270. I figure that somebody will need a deer rifle and I'll have a couple of them for sale.
I also snagged a Ruger 10-22 for $124. It's a synthetic stocked one, that came with a sling and scope base. That's one I'll probably keep, just wish it had been a takedown model.
They still had a Vanguard in 243, and I believe in 308, in addition to the woo stocked ones at $349. The also had some other guns left that were marked way down, but nothing I was interested in.
My biggest complaint is the length of time it takes to check out. Part of it I understand is store policy, but a lot of it is very aggravating.
Just got home with my Vanguard in 243. Really pretty. Great deal even if I had to go to 3 WM's to find it. They had a Savage Axis Camo in 6.5 Creedmore but it was not marked down so it stayed there.
So I went to still another WM and brought the Axis 6.5 home....these people marked it down some. Enough to make me try it.
Wife thinks I'm nuts....2 guns in one day. Hey, if one of t hem had had a Mini 14, well it would have been 3!
Yes!!!! Thanks to the man who started this thread.
I ended up buying one Synthetic Vanguard in 308 and one in 243.
I also ended up with a nice 243 Deluxe wood stock, that shoots well under MOA with a thrown together reload for an old model 7 that I used to have.
Here is the .243, the only one left in stock...............
I also got two wood stocked .270 Longmire rifles..............
Both have very nice wood, one a very distinct straight grain and one with quite a bit of violin back.
Here is the .270 I picked up this morning at the local Walmart.
Can't beat them for $349
I will say, having never owned a weatherby vanguard or Howa............I'm thoroughly impressed. The triggers on these things are legit and everything about them stomps a Remmy in the dirt. Trigger pull on the .243 (the only one I've tested so far) was a crisp 2.5lbs from the factory, and breaks like ICE.
Crazy unbelievable pricing on these.
The only guns my local has left are a sythetic 06' and a wood stocked 06'.
It took me about an hour to check out. Some of that is because as I was finishing the sale on the first one the Manager found a second one in the back and I said I want that too. And I had to fill out the 4473 three times because the 2nd time I checked yes to being addicted to marijuana.
Is anyone bored enough to tally up the amount of money we have blown saved on the sale?
It was a half off sale.We can get both answers with the same computation.
No, it wasn’t a national half off. I watched with my own eyes the price that rang up for a walnut Weatherby vanguard and Ruger mini ranch rifles. It was 499 on the weatherby and 599 on the Ruger mini. More like a third. I was gonna buy something at half off but different discounts here.

I went out in a pouring rain yesterday to buy a $399 Mini 14 and found one at the local Walmart. It was marked $747.
,......had to chase the guy down that worked behind the gun counter,...told him that his Mini 14 had been marked down to $399,..and he raised one eyebrow and looked at me like I was brain damaged.
,...damn near got run over by a fat woman drivin' one of them electric shoppin' scooters on the way out too.
They must have 40 of them damn fat women electric scooters at the local Walmart. It's like the "Fat Woman 500" down there on Saturday afternoon.
I'm surprised they ain't got a pit crew set up at the front of the store,.....where the fat women can come wheelin' in and get a fresh battery installed.
No, it wasn’t a national half off. I watched with my own eyes the price that rang up for a walnut Weatherby vanguard and Ruger mini ranch rifles.
Yes, it was, you just must have some real winners behind the counter at the Walmart you went to. I got some from 2 different Walmarts in TN, at $249 for the Vanguards, and $199 for a Savage.

Two different guns than that are all we scanned (a mini and a walnut vanguard) and they did come up less than marked but not 349 and 399.i didn’t bother to check anymore because they cold not sell a gun anyway supposedly.
Somewhat informed young man today told me it's specific to location on what is stocked and what is clearanced. The Weatherby clearance started a month ago supposedly at $349. Another hunert off and then stuff went quick.
Just picked up a synthetic 243 for $249. If nothing else, it will be for my first grandson I hope to get some day. Passed on the wood stock 243 as I already have a 6mm so don''t really need a 243. They were out of the 308's and 30-06's or else I would have picked up one of those. Thanks to the original poster for bring this to my attention and causing another "what do you need another gun for" fight with the wife.
The 243 I brought home last night is pretty plain, and the one still at the store waiting on approval from Oregon State Police is also plain, and actually has dents in the finish above and in front of the trigger from getting bumped around in the display case. But at the price I grabbed it anyway.
If it will shoot anything like the one I brought home last night, they will be the best gun dollars I ever spent.
Jack em up and sell them to the fools on TnDeer
You should have seen the counter guy acting like they weren’t on sale. He said someone would have told him. Haha
Fuggit. I don't need another .223 any damn way.
That’s about how my investigation went. I drug my ass to Walmart to see about 50% off guns. Fuggin background check machine was broken, but the two guns we scanned did ring up about a 1/3 less than regular marked price.
Sounds like the aholes in Altoona need a cleanup in aisle 3.
Don't know how it is around the rest of the country but at our nearest Walmart stores I pretty well knew from past experience that most likely it would be an exercise in futility not to mention wasted gas and time to go chasing around from store to store after the first few hours from the time these sales first start because odds would be slim to none at finding any of the more desirable final closeout priced items still in stock due in a large part to store associate tip-offs passed on early to a select few.
Youngest granddaughter had her 6th birthday party at Chucky Cheese late yesterday, so I left home early enough to stop and see what Walmart had left. Stopped at one in Kentucky, and another in Tennessee. Both still had some Weatherby's, both wood and synthetic stocked for $249, and the Tennessee store still had a Ruger Ranch for $399. I asked about the Remington 700's, but both stores said that they weren't marked down. However, I'm going to watch for the next few days, just in case.
The way it was explained to me, was that Walmart is in the process of restocking their firearm inventory, getting ready for the layaway season, which starts August 31. I guess they're getting rid of stuff that isn't selling to their liking, or else has been in inventory too long. As to the gun companies making guns exclusively for Walmart, the 10-22 I bought has a different stock, and came with a sling attached, something that I've never seen in a LGS. Not saying it was a Walmart special, just saying it doesn't look exactly like the ones I've seen elsewhere.
I know that there are a lot of posters on here who don't like Walmart, but when they have a sale, they have a sale. I have bought Remington 700's for less than $200, and bought a couple of AR's when they ran a clearance on them at 50% off. They shot just as good as anything I would have paid retail price for at a LGS.
At the Walmart I went to the guy who works Sporting Goods was very skeptical when I told him Vanguards were on sale. He scanned it and saw I was right. It was a 243 and as I started the paperwork I asked if there were anymore in the back. He looked on the computer and told me there were no more. The Ass't Manager happened by and he said I'll go get the box for that. Well he comes back with two Vanguard boxes and I can tell one is full. I ask the Asst Manager "is that another one"? He said it was. I said I want that one too and at that the Sporting Goods worker got a pissed off look on his face. I think he was protecting that 30-06 for himself or something. Sucks for him.

Agreed!!
As a side note I did some calling around Friday night and found a store about an hour away that had a 243 and a 308 in the wood stock ($349 each). I was there at 8 yesterday morning and bought both. They are very very nice rifles. My 243 looks just like the one posted above. The 308 isn't as dark as the 243 on the upper end of the stock but it's just as pretty of a rifle.
I made some serious scores over the last few days... Thanks once again to the OP!
I just got back from Wallymart. Went to the gun counter looked around a bit looked up and saw the "You must be 21" sign and remembered why I don't buy guns or gun related stuff from Walmart.
The 243 I brought home last night is pretty plain, and the one still at the store waiting on approval from Oregon State Police is also plain, and actually has dents in the finish above and in front of the trigger from getting bumped around in the display case. But at the price I grabbed it anyway.

Thanks Idaho! Glad you got a shooter!
The wood stocked .243 I got was a display model as well..............it has two slight dings in the finish and I tried to see if they would discount me even further because of it, no such luck. Not a big deal anyhow. The same time I purchased the wood .243, I also bought the only synthetic stocked .308 they had. This little .243 shoots excellent thus far. I went out and "broke it in" with 25 rounds I had loaded up for an old Rem model 7 that I had. It shot under MOA consistently with 95gr SST and 40.5gr IMR 4350..........Very promising, and after I shot the rifle (my first time shooting a Vanguard), I knew I was going to buy some more.
So, the next day............
I also drove 45 miles to another Walmart to "shop grain" on these rifles. I ended up buying a nice straight grained .270 (with quite a bit of distinct figure) from the store 45 miles away. They had another wood .243, but the wood was too plain for my tastes.
I ended up going back to my local Walmart yesterday for some other items........................I went back to sporting goods and asked the clerk (the same helpful young man that helped me previously), if they had any .270 wood stocked rifles in the back. I gave him the SKU number and he entered it into his hand held machine...................sure enough, he said they had one in the back.
I said, well, If it has nice wood, then I'll take it. He said, I'll go get it and you can have a look.
This one was in the box, bolt never inserted, etc. He pulled it out of the plastic sleeve and I said........yep, that's a nice one.......I'll take it for sure.
I also said, if you have a synthetic .243 in the back, i'll take that as well. He went back and grabbed me the last one in stock, and I bought it as well.
So, point is...............ask what they have in the back.
Kind of funny, I went from never owning a Weatherby rifle...........to buying 5 of these Vanguards........2 wood stocked .270's, 1 wood stocked .243, 1 synthetic 308, and 1 synthetic .243. in a 3 day period.

Exactly!! As I said earlier in this thread
Same thing used to happen during the 22 LR ammo crunch. One ass hole up our closest store was hookin up his lardass fireman buddy, that was running a small gun shop on the side. Then tripling the price. fireman guy was bringing biscuits and coffee to the clerk.
I went out in a pouring rain yesterday to buy a $399 Mini 14 and found one at the local Walmart. It was marked $747.

Obviously its time to move on to the sale on Bayer Aspirin and hemorrhoid medications at your local Walgreen. There's nothing more to see here.
If it didn't happen for some special people, it obviously never happened for anyone. We're all obviously having some kind of delusional experience. And please be careful not to post here too many times on this thread. That just causes some people to need extra hemorrhoid medications so the local Walgreen store might be bought out before you get there.
I just got back from Wallymart. Went to the gun counter looked around a bit looked up and saw the "You must be 21" sign and remembered why I don't buy guns or gun related stuff from Walmart.
I did go home with a Ozark Trail cooler though.
I look at it this way......Just as I have the right to shop anywhere I want, Walmart has the right to set their policies as to how they conduct business. Personally, their 21 and over policy doesn't bother me in the least. I have no trespassing signs up on my land, and do so in order to cover my azz and keep people out that I don't want on my property.......and as I've told a number of people, not only is it my right to do so, it's my business and mine alone why I don't want certain people setting foot on my land. Walmart is no different, it's their business.

You are absolutely correct, it is their business, it is also my business.
Follow the links below..........also, type in your zip code to search your area's inventory. It will also show you prices and in stock status. Keep in mind when it says "quantity 0........limited stock"..........it means they have one rifle in stock. If there are none, it will say "out of stock". Hope that helps.
I was skeptical, not at the campfire but rather that any Walmart around here would have them at that price. My buddy and I went and got a haircut, grabbed our coffee and went to the local Walmart straight up to the gun counter. There were 2 empty Vanguard boxes standing in front of 4 synthetic and 1 wood-stocked Vanguard which gave me hope. I asked the gal to show me the .308 and the.243 since I wasn’t interested in a 30-06 nor .270 because I’m trying to keep my hunting arsenal standardized on the .308 or it’s offspring. My children have their model 7’s in .243 and I hunt most everything anymore with my Sako in .308 and with the TSX or TTSX I don’t feel undergunned in the least....but I digress as usual. I asked the Walmart lady what the price was and she told me it was marked down from $498 to $349. I explained that it was my understanding that there was a nationwide mark down even more. I got the same raised eyebrow and the look like I was the crazy one from a dentally challenged, lightly edumacated Walmart cashier. She scanned all the tags and one came back at $249. She scanned the other 3 synthetic ones and they were $249 as well. The wood one was $498.
I bought the.308. Not sure but I may shorten from 24” to 20 or 21” but the trigger is crazy nice. It’ll be the only hunting rifle I’ve owned in the last 30 years that doesn’t need any work. Overall I’m impressed. If I don’t swap the stock the I’ll free float the barrel.
Thanks for the heads up. I’m thinking of going back and getting the .243. 🙄

Wait until you work the bolt and load rounds from the magazine..........................I had to "double check" to be sure mine was feeding rounds, it was that crazy smooth. That was with my wood stocked .243. I haven't shot any of the others as of yet. My trigger breaks at 2.5lbs, crispier than a can of Pringles. I cleaned the hell out of the barrel prior to shooting and torqued the action screws to 40 inch lbs. I mounted a scope and proceeded to break the rifle in shooting 25 rounds all of which went under MOA for 3 shots at 100 yards. Shot a couple screamers under 1/2 MOA. These truly are sweet rifles. Funny how it took a Walmart clearance for me to give them a look. Needless to say, I went from owning Zero Weatherby rifles.............to Five in a 3 day period.
Better run back and grab that .243 (I think you'll regret it if you don't)
One last note on the wood Vanguard 243 I picked up Friday PM. I ran 25 rounds through it yesterday, and scrubbed the bore today.
I hit it with patches and Sweets 7.62. Nothing but a bit of powder fowling. I ran four patches wet with 7.62 and did not get a bit of blue on them. Ran a bronze brush with Hoppes #9 through it ten times to knock off the rest of the powder. And then, just because I could not believe there was no copper fouling, I hit it with 7.62 again.
Absolutely no copper. Half an hour later, the used patches still had not turned blue. This has to be the smoothest bore I have ever used, including a few custom barrels. It will make a good candidate for a dose of UBC.
The Ontario Or Walmart called yesterday afternoon. OSP gave their blessing. I will go tomorrow after work and pick up another wood 243 Vanguard there.

Thanks for mentioning the quality of barrel. That is the first thing I noticed while initially cleaning my wood stocked 243. Patches went down smooth, very little fowling during "break in" as well. Glad yours is the same way, it makes me believe they are all going to be shooters.

So Toby were they on sale? Grand Haven or Muskegon?
Bayou are you sure limited stock zero means they have one? This one town shows that they are a couple in limited stock in two walmarts in that town. Howevery every other walmart within 160 miles has OUT OF STOCK ZERO.
How often is this brickseek updated and would it be worth the drive to check? This town is about an hour and 20 minutes away however Monday morning I will be withing 35 minutes of this town and would run over to it to score another rifle.

I'm not saying if the gun counter guy will do anything special for me. No sense in getting him in any trouble. What I can say is that he won't screw me.
Thanks to the OP. There's some screaming deals out there.
Very early in the thread I visited my local Wally World and spied a couple of Vangards in the case a 243 and a 270. Of course there's no employees in that quadrant of the store. Bought my cat litter and left.
I was a bit hesitant to go look again after hearing about Czeck22 [sorry spelling] luck in finding deals.
Used the search engine for WW and it showed nothing in stock so I assumed they had been purchased.
After I did my chores this morning-took till noon I checked Brick Seek again and saw the same 2 Ruger Minis in So. Reno so I figured I would give it a try.
I thought I would try my local WW first and low and behold but only once I got a Asst. manager to scan them I grabbed both the 243 and the 270 @ $249 apiece.
Then off to the Damonte Ranch store for a Mini 14. Brick Seek showed 2 of them before I left and if you've purchased a firearm at WW in these parts you know everything goes slow-mo.
Get to the next store and find a guy who's been traversing NW Nevada buying stuff all day @ WW's waiting on his purchase of a Mini. At this point it had taken 2 hours. Reason given-computer problems.
So we talk about the great deals and he tells me he got a 243 and a 308 with fantastic wood in Carson City and was finishing off with the mini.
Once the other guy got his Mini the gun counter gal started to look to see if she could find the other MIni. I could've used a sundial to time the glacially slow progress but they did find the other Mini.
After getting another Asst. manager to pull it out of the dark recesses of the store I started the paperwork to purchase the gun. While waiting the clerk and I notice 2 cracks in the stock. There on both sides of the trigger guard with one going to the wrist. Not wanting to drive 85 miles round trip to the closest store with a Mini I told them I would buy hoping to get some help from Ruger or just buy another stock for it but would appreciate a discount.
They agreed it would be easier to do that and knocked off another 10%. Got it for $359. Happy happy.

They aren’t stocking any according to the guy that sold me mine, they only have the ones on display. He said they got 1 in each caliber and that’s it.

These guns being sold are from actual in store inventories which will no doubt differ from store to store. As late as Sunday morning, several stores near me still had more than one of several different Vanguard models and calibers. Those showing limited quantities with 0 in stock only had the one in the gun case. I know for a fact that one of the stores near me has sold 4 Mini-14's in the past few days at the reduced prices. They now have none in the store. A store down the road maybe only had 1 when this sale started. As a result, what the sales guy told you might apply to his store - if he really knows - and it might not apply to a store just down the road somewhere based on their normal thru the door traffic. As you can see from reading this thread, some stores don't even know whats in their back room and don't want to find out in some cases. Hence some guys ask and go away shaking their heads. That is simply poor local management.
The thing that some are missing is that Walmart corporate HQ can see real time inventories at literally each store in the US. Some are large market stores and some are small market in terms of actual traffic thru the doors. As a result, one store might stock 100 "widgets" while the next store might only stock 50 of the same widget at a time. Knowing what is in an individual store inventory wise in real time is how they are able to correctly restock individual stores with truck shipments made up of all items of all kinds sold in individual stores from a common warehouse. Hence, lets say the "Monday truck" inventory being delivered at one store will be different from the "Monday truck" deliveries at the next store down the road, and so on. Inventory on all items in a store is real time or as close as it can be when checked by HQ sales/stock personnel. And with what they are doing, don't expect a store to get new stocks of rifles Monday unless a warehouse that supplies that store also has excess inventory that HQ wants moved. By now their low prices - and with the word out among consumers - they are probably close to balancing everything to where they want inventories to be before newly purchased merchandise comes into the Walmart supply chain and is moved to individual stores. Simple corporate marketing strategies at work. As an aside, each item you pay for at the register is deducted from inventory in that store at the time of sale. The chip based cash register does that in the background.
Don't confuse this with what happens in a store when an employee has no idea what is going on. A knowledgeable Walmart floor employee is a rare breed.......... On Friday when I bought a Mini-14, the Asst. Store Manager of a large market store was not aware that guns were on sale until he literally scanned a few stickers in their sale rack. As to your success if you make the drive tomorrow, I have no friggen' idea. And a phone call to that store might yield you absolutely nothing in terms of the real facts or you might get the absolute truth. Who knows until you try?
And no........ I don't work for Walmart, but I am damn sure that they do employ common corporate marketing strategies and techniques aided by modern computer and communication capabilities. And that in no way infers that any individual store floor employee, even some with the label of manager, can find his or her butt at any time during their shift without help.
Picked up a 243, I’m confused on everybodies good trigger reports. The on I got is horrid. 2 stage and then it breaks once without Going off then about another 3 pounds of pressure and it goes. I guess I’ve been shooting jewels and even Timneys to long. Everything else seems fine but I im going to not start at the start and see how it goes.
I picked one up in .308 and it is a lot better finished and the trigger is light years better than a 30-06 Vanguard I have from 15 years ago or so. My only gripes are that it is heavy and I don’t really see the point in a 24 inch barrel in a .308. I’m thinking about putting it in a Basner and cutting the barrel to 20 or 21 inches. That would be a very nice rifle for about $600.

I love a two stage trigger. Take it over the hump, refine the sight picture, then break it. I understand people have difficulty getting used to that and try to treat it as one long squeeze.
I've owned a few Vanguards over the years and all have been excellent shooters with good barrels.
I have noticed that they are by nature heavy rifles with triggers that one has to get used to as others have stated. This generally comes from people who are huge single stage fans. Vanguards have beau coup "creep" or take-up for those people. For others, they are "good triggers". I've always been happy with them but I wouldn't want one on a bench rifle. They are fine for a hunting rifle as they can be made to be consistent with a bit of work.
I used this sale as an opportunity to buy what I knew from experience would be a good rifle for a grandson who will soon be of hunting age. He already shoots 22LR and a 243 Vanguard will be a good reliable first gun for him.
Yeah get what you are saying about trigger. Have been switching my Remingtons over to Trigger Techs so this is definitely a different gig. I will have to play with it before I decide if the trigger stays. GreggH
I did pick up another Vanguard in 30-06 last night, so I guess I did pretty good. I did get stiffed today, though. I went to one of the local Walmarts after some of the Leupold binoculars that are on closeout. Brickseek shows that they have 2 in stock, and THEIR OWN scanner says that they have 2 in stock, yet somehow NOBODY could find them! My suspicion is that one of the employees pigeon holed them somewhere, either for themselves, or for one of their buddies.

It's a shame, but a reality at many Walmarts.
I got "lucky" in dealing with one of the only employees at my local Wally that actually wasn't a dolt. He was very helpful the first evening I purchased two rifles. Then, I went back 2 days later to buy two more and was happy to deal with the same employee.
I also was "lucky" in dealing with a good employee who was very helpful at another store 45 miles away, where I purchased a wood stocked .270.
Looks like the inventory in my area is pretty well wiped out. I feel thankful and fortunate to have gotten in on the deal.
Thanks once again to the OP and to the thread over at AR-15.com with all the brickseek links.
Well even though I swore off the 243 I got the last Vanguard synthetic they had, I guess if I don't hand it off for a Christmas present I could use it as a coyote rifle. Or maybe to be rebored to 358 Winchester.

Were you trying to buy the Leupold Acadias for $99?
brickseek thing is cool. I found several Vanguards left near me, mostly syn but one nice woody in .308. I don't think I can lay off these, might snag one or two tomorrow
I love a two stage trigger. Take it over the hump, refine the sight picture, then break it. I understand people have difficulty getting used to that and try to treat it as one long squeeze.
The two stage trigger doesn’t bother me. This one feels like 3 stages though.
Inventory is exactly what Brickseek indicated. In Billings MT there is one syn 308 and one syn 30-06 left at the King St location once I leave, lol. The other Billings and Laurel show single 270 syns and 243s as well... King is showing a 308 too. Some 308s syns in Rapid City SD last I checked.
Thanks for the heads up on these deals and inventory.....
Ohh, there was a moment where they were atrying to splain to the manager that they ain't had a chance to make the $249 tags yet....
Since my purchases 45 minutes ago, Brickseek has updated! Slick!
Love the 24". Comes with free 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, and 23" barrels!
Brick Seek said two Mini’s in Steubenville OH. About an hour from me. I called first. Nice lady said system says two but they have none. She speculated they were lay away items that didn’t get cleared from the system. Same situation in Moundsville WV. Cool tool, but worth a call before driving significant distance.
I had to join in the fun, couldn't pass up a .308 synthetic for $265 out the door. Already had brass, dies and bullets from the previous Rem 700 I sold. Thanks for the heads up!
The Oneonta, NY store didn't have any of the ones that Paul listed in the OP. They did have a Savage Axis Stainless/Synthetic in 6.5 Creedmoor for $369 but I'm not ready to drink the Kool-Aid yet.
I wish Travis would have told us how cool these rifles are years ago....
Indeed.
Apparently some haven't been watching for years.
For some buyers it seems like they are a totally new item for sale to sportsmen that only Walmart shoppers knew about before this annual sale event.
I had been without a Ruger Mini-14 for over a year and was debating about spending ~$750 for one. The $399 tag made it an easy choice for me. And I did pick up a Vanguard 243 also for a grandson because I knew that they were good rifles from past experience..
I picked up 6 vanguards today thanks to you guys. In addition to the one I bought last week which is a 243 SYN that I will keep for my 6 year old son.
I think I got hosed today though. I bought 3 syn and 3 wood deluxe various calibers $1905.00 tax and all out the door today and I had to drive 2.5 hours each way to get them. I only made the drive initially to get a mini 14 but they were out of stock.
This may sound crazy, but I took them back to my local gun store guy who recently donated $1,000 worth of shotguns for our VFW raffle when I asked him. He helped the VFW out big time. A few months ago a member stole a lot of money from us and we went out in the community to seek donations to pay back bills. This local gun store owner gave us a 12 gauge Benelli and a 20 gauge Benelli to raffle free and clear. We made $3500 off those guns for the VFW.
Anyways, I sold all six of them to him for $2,000. He already had 5 new Vanguards in stock as he knew about the sale and bought three himself to add to his inventory of two which he said he paid $408 a piece for at his costs.
Additionally while I was there, I bought 2 heritage rough rider 22 pistols (valued at $290 total) that I had ordered last week but not paid for yet to give one as a gift and keep one in addition to two new Henry rifles one for me and one for my son ($325 each) They are the kind with no brass or shiny metal.
I got all four guns for a total of $736.00 his cost with a discount and no tax as pay back for my service. The guns would have cost me about $1,000 with tax out the door regularly.
I felt like I should have gotten more from the rifles but I didnt need them and I didnt want to sell them one by one over the years. I also felt like I owed this guy who stepped forward and donated two shotguns when we needed them. Maybe I am just soft hearted and gave away alot of guns but whats done is done. He is gonna scope them out and sell them at a discount for deer season.
I guess I should of held on to them or demanded more money for them but I felt like I made the right decision. I mean I got a Weatherby Vangaurd in 243, two heritage rough rider 22 pistols and two new Henry rifles for less than a $1,000. Now I am waiting for the ATF to come visit me lol
I physically checked 3 Walmarts nearby that showed 0 low Stock. All 3 had guns on the shelf and in the back. No 243s though, so I walked. Best to always check in person.
I picked up a synthetic vanguard in 243 and one in 270 for $249 each at the Rexburg, ID Walmart today. I called around on Friday and all the local stores said $349. I asked them to scan one and they just reassured me they were $349. I by chance had to go to Walmart today and remembered to check for myself. I guess I just missed the last 30-06. I better go get them out of the truck and look at them. I didn't even look in the boxes when the brought them out. I put way too much faith in the Walmart guys doing that but I was in a hurry which is never good at Walmart.
No sir we sold the last wood one on Friday. My husband bought it. All that is left is the 243 and 30-06 syn. Al pleasant and helpful demeanor.
Then I started rattling off brick seek inventory
It's not always accurate she says. hoping in the tone of her voice I would accept her "explanation"
I kept insisting on some one checking for em She said it might be a long time before the manager got to be able to check in The locked storage room. Hoping that would work and discourage me Told i got all the time in the world to wait. Her mannerisms spiraled down hill more realizing I wasn't taking her answers for anything honest.
Then Mrs sporting goods lady got all sullen When brick seek contintoually checked fired her ass about inventory on my phone I was "interested" in. Then another regular employee confirmed the stash out back. Probably had a 4 digit access code to gun storage. Im reasonably sure it would log open and close times automatically.
I got the impression by her sullen manner that I was Stealing from her friends and family informal layaway Program.
He came back with pics on his phone showing me . Plenty of em. Syn and wood
She was all sulking making pretend she was doing some work But I could tell she was pissed. I knew about her friends and family game.
I'm gonna go back today and fugg with that bytch Write down a list by SKU per brick seek and talk to store manager about buying entire inventory of weatherbys and why they ain't on the racks. Just flat out say I'm gonna buy everyone and sell em for 5 dollars over total cost out of spite.
Let it be known what the fugg is going on with the employee hold for me program. Even show em post on this thread with the same crap across the nation.
I don't even like weatherby rifles......
What many are speculating about the informal layaway hold it for me employee Friends and family crap is happening. I could tell by this lady's manner and demeanor shift bringing her scam out. The other employee that confirmed inventory was helpful and never changed how he acted.
Don't take no for answer from these types If that inventory shows. It is present. It has to be recorded. It is a gun transaction. Guns are also consolidated in one locked access area. If they can't locate a gun they have per their inentory. It is bullchyt Keep going higher and higher up management . Guns are stored in one secured area only. Scanned in and out of that area and updated when sold or secured again. They have no way around this process unless some one is doing some shady chyt. Then that stores ffl and holder has their ass in a bind and probably isn't aware of what is happening With their sporting goods employee game
Don't take an hourly employee doing the friends and family crap program..... Elevate it above them fast...
Trying to find a sku for a 12 gauge 870 if anyone has it
My nephew bought one of those, a synthetic stocked model. None of the Walmarts I went to had any, nor have I have able to find any on brickseek.
I bought a Ruger 10-22 for $124, a black synthetic stock blued barrel model. In talking to several other people, they didn't see any of those on clearance at any of the other stores. There was a label stuck on the Ruger box that showed it went into Walmart inventory in June 2017. I'm guessing they were marking down what had been in their inventory for too long. That may explain why some stores had certain guns for sale, and others didn't.
There are quite a few for the regular price of $279, but none for $139.
Ah, sorry. I found this to be more accurate than Brickseek. If you enter the SKU, this site converts that to the UPC and checks it that way. Hopefully itll help someone else.
Part of this game of employees trying to "hide" these discounted guns Is holiday layaway timeframes start Aug 31 Then the low budget friends and family can get em plan starts.
Funny story......many years ago, about the time that Walmart began to sell guns, they sold some Savage rifle and scope packages, with the scope mounted and boresighted. Some of the local goobers actually put these on layaway, went to Walmart the night before deer season opened, and picked their rifles up. One of them shot at 3 different deer on opening morning, missing all of them. He thought they'd sold him a "bad rifle" and was going to take it back, until I asked him if he'd checked the scope for zero. He hadn't, and when he did, it was shooting about 3 foot high at a 100 yards.
"But, the guy at Walmart that sold it to me said the scope was sighted in," he kept saying. I'll never forget that.
It sounds like this has morphed into another, "We don't have any 22 LR in stock, sir. My uncle just bought the last box" type of thing at some stores. The only catch was the uncle hadn't got to the store yet that day.
Late last week I found what I was looking for which was a $399 Mini-14 and I picked up a synthetic Vanguard as an after thought after checking a couple of stores near my house. Both places willingly showed me their online inventory list without even asking, but I wasn't wanting to buy a bunch of Weatherbys so I never worried about it in my case.
Some places seem to think that they and their families have the first pick of the litter, I guess as a "perk" for being a Walmart employee.
As I stated earlier, I'm normally not a WalMart shopper for guns or for anything else but the Mini-14 price was good enough to look. I did notice while I was in the two stores that I went to that their 22 LR prices were about a $1.50 higher/100 round boxes than I have been paying at a LGS for the past 6 months to a year.

The walmart associate was openly using profanity during my purchase
Said that making her wheel everything out to look at "was a buncha shlt, the dumbest shlt I had to do in a long time"
Then her dumbass couldn't fold the cardboard boxes back up and "this is a bunch of mtherduc king bullshlt"
lol
Oh well, I apparently bought the walnut 243 she was pigeon-holing for her grandson
I bought the last 10-22 and the last 270 Vanguard that the Oak Grove Walmart had, and the clerk had to make 3 trips to the storeroom to get the right guns and boxes. I was actually apologetic to he for it. Her answer........no big deal, it's my job. Good clerk, and not too shabby on the eyes either.
Walmart is "Walmart".................I always try and remember that when I go there. Particularly when I'm interested in anything in the "sporting goods" department.
A few years ago during the .22 ammo famine...............I walked up and asked if they had any 22 ammunition. Even though, I could see a few bricks on the shelf, the lady pointed to a hand written sign that said "no 22 ammo in stock".
I told her, I'll take those two bricks of Winchester 22 Long Rifle HPs, as I pointed to their location in the ammo cabinet.
She said, Oh, OK.
I said, I thought you didn't have any 22 ammo?
She was silent as she rang me up.
I just said, well thanks again.
Fuggin Idiots...............
No doubt they are trying to hide the sale items as well. Pretty sad, and funny.
In the case of purchasing the 5 Vanguards recently at two different locations.............I was helped by really good employees. I was sure to point out that I appreciated their assistance as it wasn't always the case that I got good service. I even went as far as to telling one manager to "give this guy a raise, he is awesome!!" and I meant it. The guy at my local Walmart was great, I was sure to give him some accolades.
The 243 I got was going to be the assistant manager's. She said at her store, Helena MT, they restricted employees from purchases during the first 24 hours of the clearance markdown. Everyone I've dealt with have been decent, a job's a job around here I guess.
1 in 10" for 70 gr Ballistic Tips or whatever. These are 80s prices!
Some years back I got to talking with a young guy and woman shopping together in the sporting goods dept, at a local Walmart that admitted as much. Both were pushing carts loaded to the gills with closeout priced hunting/shooting/muzzle loader/archery related stuff . He said he ran a little home based side business (unlicensed) selling hunting stuff and that they were stocking back up on inventory for next season. After talking with them for a little bit he did the sly wink-grin-glance over each shoulder thing and admitted they had an insider or two that worked at Walmart who tipped them off ahead of time on sporting goods dept. season end closeout sales Said this wasn't their first two cart load trip there for that particular close out sale either.

If it wasn't for the WalFart job she'd probably be on welfare otherwise I'd of talked to her boss. Son just moved to Ohio and they don't allow necked cartridges for hunting so he has no need right now. I can always hold a couple for him. Couple of them nearby.
I have to stay away from this thread!! I came home today with two 870's at $139 each and two pair of Acadia's at $99 each.
According to the Dexter link there are several Walmart's near me with 870's for that price. And I should mention that the Walmart that I got these from didn't have them out advertised on clearance (the 870's or the Acadia's). I had to ask them to check their inventory then pull the items out for me.
So do the $289 remington shotguns ring up as $139 like the Vanguards???? My store shows one in stock but says the price is $289 using the Dexter checker link.
SO are only some stores shotguns $289 or are they all on sale just not marked $139????

Yes. Not all stores have the discounts just the ones the item in question was a slow mover...
I finally jumped in, it took 3 trips to 2 stores, but the wait time was actually only an hour once we got started. I snagged a synthetic Vanguard in ought 6. two-sixty foe and out the doe!!
Some Wally world folks around here are playing the hide it game and some aren't. The deals I have found so far are even marked down more than the normal Brickseek prices.... so far they are hiding all the Leupold scopes
I haven't figured out how to get the SKU or UPC number for the Brickseek searches... can anyone (Pahick??) put up a hyperlink for the Leopold scope search please?

Seems to be the case. Just stopped by a place listed at $289 and sure enough $289. Maybe next time. Lol
I don't think they're hiding them every time. I think theyre unorganized and the scopes aren't being counted or stored correctly most likely. Took me a few calls to get an answer and finally nailed down a manager who went and looked. I met him there an hour or two later and 10 minutes or so later it was all good.
I work part time at a Dunhams. Sometimes the puter says we have 5 items but we only have 4. Someone stole one or it never really came in or it got put in the wrong place....etc. Not firearms of course but I think some of this is ignorance...employees dont know much about guns or the process and it jams up the works.
Guy just told me the markdowns have not happened at this location yet because their national office has to notify the BATF that they are dropping the prices! LOL I just nodded and said yah that slows things down....

Heres how to find any SKU, then in the last pic, enter that SKU on Dexter and your zip and enter, itll convert to UPC.
Pics arent showing on my end(Adblocker) but theyre there. Once you type Leupold in this example, scroll down until you find it. If you cant, type Leupold VX. Or some other variation.
Will see whats left tomorrow in my area and decide.

Welcome. Hope it helps you all out. The gettins almost over around here, but might be some out of the way spots left holding the goods.
If what I saw today is any indication, I'm betting that there are still quite a few bargains scattered around the country. I traveled about 75 minutes north of my home today to meet a couple of friends to play golf.
On the way home I came back thru a Walmart rich environment in that in a populated area there are 4 of them on one parkway within about 30 minutes of each other north to south. I stopped at all four stores , and all four still had Vanguards in wood and synthetic. One store had only one 270 walnut rifle left but several synthetic models, but another one had a "full house" of at least one of each available synthetic and wood Vanguards (243, 308, .270, 30-06). At that store, the guy at the gun counter told me that he was surprised than they had sold only one 308 walnut model since the sale began.
All four of these stores are large market suburban stores. Apparently there aren't too may 24 HC members in the area.

Good deal. I got 11 within 30 miles and only 6 sell firearms. They mostly are all cleaned out. I know a couple places that still have a few on the way to camp, hoping theyll be around in 2 weeks. If not no biggie. Theyre in poorer areas and with back to school apparently those Walmarts arent selling a lot.
First wally I walked into this morning Brickseek showed they had three Leupolds in stock. Guy at the counter nearly refused to run the SKU and belittled me asking me if I believed the internet. Took me 15 minutes to get him to enter the SKU while he poked around and tried to talk me into a different scope to buy. When he did enter it I watched him 10 key it in and he deliberately got a digit off. then he told me the internet lied to me. I walked to customer service and had them scan the UPC barcode at their station. Lady said yes sir we have three of them at $154 ea. I asked for the manager and another employee over heard and very rudely said if it wasn't at the sporting counter they did not have it and that the manager was not in. I left.
The next store very happily sold me three Vanguard Deluxe s a 06, a 270 and a 243 at the further marked down price of $300 instead of $350. I later found a scope at another store but only one at advertised price.
There are still a few places to go around here and one Ranch Rifle is on "hold" locally. Still scheming on shaking the scopes out of the one bunch....they have me convinced that they did not lose that much merchandise. Bar codes are all about ones and zeros....
Id have taken their names and asked for the regional managers number. Pretty sure they would have changed their outlook, if not then, they surely would have after a phone call.

You're right. I've enjoyed this thread a lot, about as much as any that I've participated in. It didn't have anything to do with Trump, Muslims, illegal immigrants, Mueller, The Swamp, Sessions, or any of the other chit that we often get caught up in.
Just members gobbling up bargains, and letting other member in on it.
Even my two neighbors to the south, renegade and slumlord got in on the fun, despite the green bean debacle.

I did alright. I'm not a 243 fan but with a dusty giftcard i had left over, I walked out with mine for $307. Might just make it a range gun.

I'm up to 89 quarts so far.
There was a time when I thought the 243 was way over rated. I've since changed my mind, as I own 4 of them, well, actually 3, as my son refuses to give one back. They'll kill the snot out of a deer, and give a coyote a dirt nap supreme.
I grabbed the last 270 Synthetic my local store had, it was in the back and they just put it on display a few days ago.
I said, if it was still on the rack today, I'm buying it.
Needless to say, I just got home with a lighter wallet.
That store has one 30-06 synthetic left on the rack and no more Weatherby Vanguards of any kind left in the back.
I had the guy check on the Leupold VX2 3-9x40 for $154 but they didn't have any left in the cabinet. Oh well.
I'm happy
All told, I ended up with a wood stocked 243, two wood stocked 270's, one synthetic 243, one synthetic 308, and one synthetic 270.
I can't get over how nice these actions are, man they feed slicker than whale snot.
Remington can suck it..............
This sale has been a godsend in several ways. Some people found a bargain on something that they knew was a very good deal and at least one person found something that they apparently didn't know existed before.
243 with Sightron SII Big Sky 3-12x42 with HHR in Weaver Rings/Bases.
I took the synthetic 270 out of the stock and tried to "flex" the forearm of the stock. These things are beefy and very solid. Overall, I can't see how you can get a better deal on a rifle, even at $495 full price.......of course paying $249 makes it a no brainer.
The trigger on the 270 breaks perfectly at 2.5lbs just like the wood stocked .243. I haven't tried the others, I suspect the same.
I'm a huge fan of two stage triggers and these are legit.

No doubt, I feel shameful that I've never fired a Weatherby rifle or a Howa. Grew up on Remington 700's and have fired/owned many other brands, Ruger 77, Browning a bolt, Winchester 70, Tikka, Sako, Kimber, you name it.
I will say, I'm thankful for this sale for many reasons...............these Vanguards are really, really, nice!! I ended up with enough rifles for my wife and two boys, with a few left over for myself to play with. Being big into small calibers and varmint rifles, I was lacking in the big game hunting rifle department. These will fit the bill nicely!!
I had 3 extra scopes, so it was like "necessary". I really dig the configuration of these rifles. Looking forward to trying 150s behind RL26 in the 24" O'Connor. Thinking of subsonic suppressed 308. And zippy 55-70s in the 243.

I think the best great deal thread ever! .
Try some 87gr VLDs in the 243. I think youll be pleasantly surprised.
Dam it guys. Now you got me back into the Caldwell Walmart for one of those $155 VX 2s. It was marked $240 or there about in the display case, but I asked him to scan it. Yippee.
Then it was off to Sportsman's for another set of Tally LW. The clerk handed me a set marked for REM 700, 721, 40X, and said these are the right ones. They are a bit different from my first set for the Rem 7, in that both rings are offset.
I will eventually purchase another set like these new ones, and move the first set to the model 7.
Oh, and Sportsman's had a full rack of Vanguards........Marked $899 to $999. But they were stainless and chambered for Weatherby cartridges. They might be moving a bit slow for the foreseeable future.
this is kind of like, the gift that keeps on giving! I found a few left in Texas near several relatives, using the brickseek thingy, and put them on alert.
I bought a 243 Winchester with synthetic stock yesterday morning at the Longmont, CO store off of Main Street. As of that time they had at least one more 243, one 30-06 and one 270, all with synthetic stock. Didn’t ask about wood stocks. Oh, and I also bought their last VX-2 scope.
Had a dentist appointment, then went by Walmart to get some groceries, and checked to see what they had left. Didn't see any Leupold scopes, but they still have 2 of the $249 dollar Vanguards left. One was long action, the other short, that's all I could see in the case.
I have a line on 2 Vanguard wood stocked 270's....one is display with lots of dings and scratches....the other has defective shiny coat on wood and somewhat mottled blueing on barrel. Question is this: which if either would you spend the $349 for and if you buy the finish distorted one, what can be done with the coating on wood?
Depending on the defect.... One could try deglossing with a Mr lean Magic Eraser leaving a satinish look... Or trying some BC Stock Sheen and Conditioner or other such product?
Buffing might work to achieve uniformity. There's really many possibilities. You could send in for warranty and see what happens. A full refinishing would be a biotch IMO not worth it.
Posting some very good pics here, or hunting rifles, or gunsmithing is sure to get some input, possibly, maybe even useful too.
Note to the guys near Boise, the 12'th Ave Nampa Walmart still has a full selection of clearance Vanguards.
Walnut Vanguard....$349 Leupold VX 2 3x9...$154 Tally LW..................$ 50 Id sales tax.............$ 33 =$586 A buddy wanted the one I put together last night for $600, so I picked up another 243 today. And I watched another guy walk out with two, so they are going fast.
Thanks to all the above who helped in passing the word!
Went and picked up the Deluxe Vanguard 270 this morning....had my wife look at stock and barrel last night, with her post-cataract eyes!, and was told to stop being stupid and take it home! So this morning when there was a manager to do the paperwork, it came home. We wiped it off real good and all the stuff that made me question it, ( oh when will they get rid of my cataracts?) was gone. Real happy with it. So off to Wally World #3 cause they had, supposedly, 2 of the Leupold VX-2's in stock. Of course when I got there they were not to be found. I kept bitchin' and she kept looking and lo and behold what did she find in a semi hidden drawer but the 2 they didn't have! Well they are mine now. Now I have to find another cause SWMBO looked through one and decided she needs a new scope on her 243. Oh well.
If anyone locally, Greensboro, NC, Wendover store, is looking for a synthetic Vanguard, as of 0900 this morning they had a 270 and I think a 243 in the gun room. I almost took the 243 with me but 3 is enough. Met the guy who bought all 10 Vanguards in Kernersville, NC, last Friday also....he tried to buy the one I bought but they were nice enough to hold it overnight for me.
Free country and all but I can't see why anyone would want 10 or more of the synthetic VGs. I can't think the market would be that strong as to make enough on them to be worthwhile. I picked up a 308 just because of the price and I recently traded the only 308 I had. A great bargain at $249 but they are heavy. I havent shot it so my opinion on them may change if it shoots as good as promised.
I trade 'em off for less than I paid, or more often, just give 'em away. The best I have ever done was break even, which is still a loss considering inflation.
The Escanaba Walmart still has a number of different models on clearance. A guy at worked checked yesterday but it's too far of a drive for me now.
I was hoping for a 10/22 on clearance for $124 but none locally. I did find the Vanguards and Benjamin air rifles and they are sold out now in Appleton.
Held my tongue for a 30 minute Walmart stumble thru on the 4473 to get a vanguard. They called over 2 people to watch and train. Head Retard told me it's illegal to sell ammo and a gun in the same transaction, so I produced a receipt that showed she was wrong, she held her ground. What a dumb ass. So i grabbed some mounts and she told me nothing can go on a gun receipt but a gun. Sigh. Ok. Then the guy behind the counter made some small talk while we waited and wanted to know if I was after elk and wolves. Yep. Right here in ohio. All those elk and wolves you see all the time.
Managed to avoid elk and wolves on the way to my car without the ammo or mounts I wanted. Sigh.
As noted in another thread, I put mine together today with a clearanced Hawke from Doug. Total tab including tax and Talleys is just under $400.
Gotta stay away from Whatamart until this blows over. There are a couple wood-stocked ones showing nearby, and I don't need them, but the spirit is very weak. Also, the last thing I want is any more semi-heavy rifles. My .243 hefts about 8lbs by feel, and that's on the edge for me these days.

Every time I decide I don't really hate people...
If you were buying a Tikka Creedmoor, you could’ve bought ammo AND mounts with it.
I have been buying them since 2003. Really nice rifles whether marked howa or weatherby. This is just the best deal I have ever seen on them by far and I am glad lots of guys get to try them out now
And MT, I stopped walmart to grab some elk calls .. honestly. They had one Synthetic 06 left, I already have a old S&W 1500 06 that shoots lights out so didn't really need another. Then I remembered I had a VXII in the drawer that was lonely. So I guess now I have a 1500 with a 22" and 24" barrels and VXII 3x9's. $250 was just too good to pass up, even if I didn't need it. I already sanded the stock to free float the barrel and have the accra glass ready for tomorrow. I'll have to measure the chamber and load some ammo, but I have a metric ton of 180 partitions and brass so that's a savings . I need to avoid this place for a while.
That's the spirit! That extra velocity will really rock it this fall!

Slumlord follow these links and input local zip code... For example there's 308 syn in Selinsgrove and Hazle Township.
Repost
Follow the links below..........also, type in your zip code to search your area's inventory. It will also show you prices and in stock status. Keep in mind when it says "quantity 0........limited stock"..........it means they have one rifle in stock. If there are none, it will say "out of stock". Hope that helps.
thanks mtn boomer. Do you have a link to a mini-14?
You betcha.
Nope. I've not looked into them. I do twenty posts per page and that info was kindly shared by screamingweasel back on page 9 with search discussion following. Might be something there?
Satuday went to a WM 50 miles east of me, that showed it had a mini14 in stock and a wood 308 weatherby in stock. They didn't have either one in stock. All they had was 243 in wood and 243, 270, and 30 06 in synthetic. My son wanted a 308 and none to be had. I thought, WTH, give me the plastic 30 06. Got home and play with it a little and think, I might want to keep this one for a while. So back to this thread and do a search and it shows a 308 at a WM south of me about 35 miles. Got there Monday morning and a customer that was at the counter said he had an employee coming over for a gun purchase. I looked at the rifles in the case and no 308 but there was a mini 14 marked at full price. The guy in front of me asked the salesman to scan the mini 14, it came up clearance price and said he would take it, dam! While they started the paper work, I called my son and asked him what he would like for his birthday since there wasn't any 308 s left. He said 30 06. Meanwhile the first customer is leaving without his mini 14, and I was told no gun sales until they can get the the computer pad that you sign on for the FFL form fixed. I asked if I could lay away the ruger and was told not until the computer is fixed. I reminded him that the FFL form isn't filled out until the time of purchase. 1 manager (on the phone) and 2 employees latter I have a mini 14 and a vanguard 30 06 on layaway and I blame you guys
Yeah theyve been playing "oh the background check network is down" BS at some walmarts
Comes back to what I suspect is the associates brushing customers off till their little cousin 'Gerald' gets paid on friday from his dumptruck driving job and can put $35 down on layaway.
Dont buy them all up just yet. In a few more days, these will get cut to a further reduced price and then it will be a killer of a deal. The leupold VX2 scopes were just cut again yesterday, down to $74. I picked a few up, but had to drive 100 miles to do so.

I work for Walmart and at least at the stores I've ever been in that doesn't happen. People get fired for that.
Finally and luckily Brickseek was off today indicating one where there wasn't... Nothing to be had at WWW (World's Whitest Walmart, not even a tan in that place, lol) in Kellog ID.
Did see indications of multiple Weatherby rifles around Spokane and Spokane Valley WA, also a Mini14. And a Mini 14 showing at Twin Falls ID.
Yet to run across the scopes, 10/22s or 870s anywhere. Also good for me!
Finally got around to going to Wal-Mart, while the wife got what she wanted, I meandered over to the gun section. Didn't see any of the guns mentioned here in the display case. Mostly Shotguns and 22LR
One of our WMs said layaways can start Friday, they have one synthetic .243 now. I might snare it on Friday with $25 down. 90 days to clear it out.
Good Luck! Hope you can pull it off.
Kind of surprising though that they would have a Vangard in .243 still in stock this far into the clearance sale as they seem to be the quickest to go out of stock around here.
I don't know if Walmart has specific times they start/stop gun sales each day but I imagine the sooner you get there on 8/31 the better chance you'll have as you will likely have some competition that also have the same plan.
Here's one for ya'll. Billings MT Kings Ave there's a handful of synthetics and a couple of wood Vanguards but they're priced $349 and $499. Also a Mini 14 for $599 not $399. The Stevens girly shotgun is $149 whereas at Laural 15ish miles away it's $99. Anyways, it's a good thing for my wallet!
Snagged a pair of Bino's for $49.00. I had already bought one set at $99. These continual mark downs are crazy.
I keep watching two Leupold VX-2s in stock for $298 a piece. I saw them go for $99 and then $79 at other stores a few hours away. This store is 40 min away, but has the only two VX-2s left in my area. They are full price still.

Are they any good? I have a local store showing 2 pair.
They are good binos. I mean for $99 or $49 who can complain. I saw great reviews for them at Cabelas, Bass Pro and Amazon by people who paid over $200 for them. They are rated high like 4.7 to 4.8 at most places out of 5.
Make them refresh their scanner. Believe it or not it is because they are lazy or want ta play the hope you walk away all boo-boo face game Don't take their word when inventory is showing and they say it ain't their. Talk to managers. Stop being a B type personality. And being buffaloed by a 9 dollar an hour fugger doing the friends and family informal layaway game.
Just read thru this thread... It tells a story of the crap going on nationwide..... Some of ya are on to these fuggers doing this crap and don't tolerate it I applaud you.....
Then their are the eeyores that believe anything thing they are told by a 9 dollar an hour mofo pulling some shady chyt for friends and family.....
Be a dick, don't listen to the bullchyt.
Dicks get their vanguard,s Nikon,s and luepold,s From the ass hole,s hiding and scamming chyt.
Pussies walk away believing what the ass holes told them....
Um yes sorry to bother you if you dont mind coming up for air from your snapchat can you check if have this item on my phone...oh you don't ummkay nevermind have a nice day
Was looking at a 243 and 06 synthetic in the case and they had a 349 price tag on them. Brickseek say 349 too. They scanned at 249. Lazy WalFart workers
They pulled the same chit on me at 3 different stores with the $25 generators. One store showed 4 so I ordered 2 for pickup...order cancelled after I stopped by and talked to a manager who said they have a lot of loss on the clearance items and they werent in stock. Another store showed one so I placed the order for pickup...again order cancelled. I even stopped by a 3rd store that shwed one in stock....gone.
All of these were likely hidden by employees is my guess. Best advice I can give is go check an item out in person and dont call or order online....good chance it will tip off an employee to the discount. Brick Seek pricing has been accurate from what I've seen but actual in stock count is spotty....or,theres shenanigans by the employees to hide them for themselves or friends.
I have picked up some Nikon Monarch binos for $59, a rolling tool chest for $25, Worx table saw for $25, various gun cleaning stuff, slings and one of the $249 Vanguards. No luck on some of the other guns on clearance though.
By this time tomorrow, Friday, 8/31, or at the latest, end of day, Saturday, 9/1, it could be interesting to see what Brickseeker and/or Dexter inventory checker sites show for Walmart's inventory on the clearance priced Vanguards, as well as some of the other more sought after clearance priced items.

When the counter guy looked at his computer yesterday, he said there was one left (as did Brick seek), but it was not on the rack at the time. Hoping I get there around 10:00 am.

Hell I've been outright cussed by a bitch lol
I go full blown retard on em and just cut off their piehole,s Dominate the conversation telling em the crap that is going down You've seen it Shyt gets done Just like yesterday when i told that lazy summer teeth bytch to update her scanner data base for the day Acting all aloof about it Then it updates and she is wanting outta their.
Lo and behold The price updated.
She leaves , don't come back Then Tabitha shows up and is happy to interact and get the deal going
Classic trick i pulled going over to automotive calling for a manager for a firearm sale While Jacko lantern teeth was playing her scanner don't show that price game We got them by 3 different angles Confused as fugg And got that price right
On those fuggers like white on rice.
Ya gotta dominate these fuggers with force of personality Just like today with them 3 fuggers at the cop shop on post After I went full blown retard then you chimed in Then 3 fuggers didn't dare look at us or the crowd I was hoping shooter mcgavitt would have said something I would been his happy Gilmore in heartbeat They advoided eye contact and kept their heads down walking out
Bow to your sensi!!!!!!
This is how Wal-Mart gun dept fuggers trying to hide chyt for friends and family need to be treated. Last time I checked this was a free nation with capitalism as a founding principle And if ya earn money ya buy what ya want. And people who bust up these little games by d bag Wal-Mart employees Are seen as ass holes by them.for ruining their little self declared benefit for themselves they got going.
Get on your phone call your buds , tell em some ass holes with wallets full of cash bought The stuff you bragged about stashing away for them on the cheap. Tell em to buy a box of Mike Waddell. 270 thug ammo for their remmingdog 783 package rifle with Bushnell Sportveiw scope for this season again......
Hahahahahahajahahaaa!!!!!
The dudes that have experienced and done the things that me and slumlord have done To force these fuggers hands.

One of my buddies was at a Walmart in Sioux Falls with that same exact pricing. He called and spoke to the manager and told him that all the other walmarts were sold out, and had the prices at 249 and 349. The manager looked into it and found out the prices were incorrect and changed them. They were exactly the same prices you mentioned
Suppliers to Wal-Mart Stores are receiving notice from the retail giant of a cost shift requiring product suppliers to provide price protection for items such as electronics, apparel and toys that are bought and placed in holiday layaway.
Talk Business & Politics obtained a copy of this notice sent from Walmart Global Business Services to certain suppliers.
The retailer is asking suppliers to cover the cost on all inventory when there is a price drop such as year-end closeouts or holiday promotions. For example, if a customer buys a television for $800 and puts that item in layaway ahead of Christmas, but the manufacturer lowers the cost to $725 to help clear inventory by year-end, Wal-Mart will expect the supplier to cover the $75 price differential per item in the retailer’s inventory, which includes layaway.
Wal-Mart said it doesn’t record the layaway sale until the item is picked up, so it’s still considered inventory. The retail giant said it previously didn’t have visibility to items once they are put in layaway because layaway merchandise is pulled from store inventory and placed in “layaway liability.” Wal-Mart said inventory in layaway liability mode at the time of a price cost decrease is picked up by customers at the new lower cost. In other words, the retailer said it’s passing the lower cost on the customer at the expense of the supplier.
Boyd Evert, president of Harvest Revenue Group, said his firm is working multiple six-figure chargeback claims from last holiday season from suppliers related to price drops during the holiday season, which also happens to be year-end. One frustration Evert said suppliers have with this policy is a lack of transparency and visibility to know if the customer really pays the lower price. He said suppliers want to know if customers are getting the lower price and there now is no evidence of that from Wal-Mart.
Evert said the claims coming from this policy are increasing because suppliers are not protecting themselves in their contract negotiations with Wal-Mart. His advice for suppliers is to specifically spell out in the contract the manufacturer will not provide price protection for items sold into layaway.
“Suppliers who made that stipulation last year avoided claims and those who got claims had them canceled within hours of receipt. It’s an incredibly cumbersome process for suppliers to try and follow the money. They can back into the math and get pretty close by using Retail Link and replenishment data and taking out the inventory numbers in stores from the items shipped per store to try and estimate how many units are in sold into layaway. It’s a store-by-store accounting which is tedious for suppliers in 4,000 stores,” Evert said.
He said suppliers at the most risk for chargebacks are those who sell toys, electronics, apparel and other seasonal merchandise frequently placed into layaway. Those are also often the items that receive holiday promotions that lower prices between early September and mid-December, the timeframe of Wal-Mart’s layaway program.
Deloitte reported just 14% of consumers used layaway for the holidays last year. The same report found despite some early pre-Thanksgiving promotions and layaway to help them stretch out the payments of large ticket items, 40% of consumers waited until December to start their shopping. Just 5% began shopping in October and 9% did majority of holiday shopping on Black Friday, while 6% made major purchases on Cyber Monday.
Evert said clients he represents against retail chargebacks have seen six- and seven-figure claims related to holiday price drops and it’s likely to happen again unless suppliers take a proactive approach in contract negotiations to exempt layaway price protections. ––––––––––––––––––––––––
Someone said the 3-9 vx 2 was marked down some more. I drove forty miles each way this evening to check where I had bought one last week.
Yep, they still have one in the display case. Wandered around until I found a clerk stocking shelves. "I will take that one."
He can not find any in the stock drawers. "That is all right, I will take the display."
He can not find the box. " I do not care, I will take that one."
He called the manager. We can not sell the display model. WTF, they are discontinued. You will not be getting any more of them in?
I am going to call over tomorrow and get the day shift manager and see if I can get it locked up.
This stupid chit is exactly why I won’t be spending another dollar in walmart. It’s too damn complicated to buy there. I will spend my money at stores that have present, competent employees and will sell you their in stock goods at the right price. Walmart is a bureaucracy.
Well, I got my scope. VX 2 3-9x40 for $74. It took some doing, but I got it done. A phone call at 09:00 this morning to the SG manager explaining yesterday's fiasco expedited matters.
The Sporting Goods manager was a hoot on the phone. He carefully explained that he could not reduce the price, just because it was a display. He told me the scope was already on sale for $154 and that was 1/2 price. I just told him okay, no problem. I just want the scope. I was not trying to haggle the price.
Then, when I got to the store, the clerk scanned it. $74! It's like winning a lottery ticket.
That makes three 3-9 VX-2s and one 4-12 VX-2 windplex CDS, (and another 4-12x40 for a buddy) I have picked up since they have been placed on clearance. Not all from Walmart.
I took half a day off work, vacation, and drove over to Caldwell to get the one I knew about. Then I traveled to 6 other Walmarts in the Boise/Meridian/Nampa area looking for more.
No joy! No more VX 2s, and no Monarch IIIs. I did not even see a Vanguard on the rack in any store I visited.
I'm beginning to wonder now if Walmart even allows layaway of closeout items. Kind of makes sense that they wouldn't on certain items and especially anything close out priced because it's not going to be stocked anymore or replaced by new or different models instead.

Me, too, but I will give it a shot today on a syn .243.

At least in the stores I've worked in, (Walmart employee for over 15 years) we couldn't put guns or clearance items in layaway. The store I'm in now (Lakeville, Mn. #5992) only does layaway during Christmas season, and only on toys, electronics, and jewelry.
But your little nephew leeroy could if you told him about a fantastic sale going down on a specific item
Btw, they were going to give me the business the other day on a rifle that "darrell wouldnt be in till 1pm and it takes two to make a firearms sale and do a 4473"
I said no problem slap on lay-a-way, I'll be back in 4 hours
But, miraculously....darrell or wtf ever his name was there all along, he was feeding the fuggin goldfish in Pets Dept "cause that's his thing"
And the lay-a-way deal....i've skirted that before in times past, they will lay away anything even a firearm 365 days a year IF you simply conduct the transaction at the jewelry counter. I've done it. ( may be different now) but have done before about 3-4 yrs ago

Just my experiences
I bought some ammunition back last winter at Walmart and asked the sporting goods clerk that waited on me if I could pay for it along with the rest of the stuff we were buying when we checked out up front. Was told no because ammo and firearms sales transactions had to be processed through the sporting goods register.
Also, from what I've read on Walmart's website, store associates get paid every two weeks, and paydays are on Thursdays. Yesterday, 8/30, was a Thursday.
A payday?
If it was, checking out suspicious store inventories on some of the close-out priced items later on today and tomorrow might be a bit interesting.
The answer from dayshift management: no notice for further markdowns from HQ and can not yet be put on layaway... Mini14 still $599.
That makes mine at $399 × 2 plus tax feel like I got a good deal out the door. Hopefully both sons will be pleased at Christmas time. It took a couple of days early on in the sale to find the second one, but mission accomplished.
Pisses me off when they have something rolled back at one location but not the other! Fuggers! LOL
I know. I found a store that had the Nikon scopes that slumlord and renegade had found for $99, but they are still marked regular price of $357. Plus......they deny that the other stores have marked them that low.
Thanks for keeping these Walmart threads at the top lol.
On a whim last night (after reading here of course) I checked to see if my local Walmart still had the last set of Leupold BX-2 Acadia's on hand. They did and they were further marked down to $49. So this morning I took the two sets I bought last week back and got a refund of something like $104....then walked over to the sporting goods section and bought the last pair.
Another great score, 3 pair for $49 each!!
Unfortunately not a single scope within an hours drive of my location though.
I missed the Wby .243 I was hoping for this morning, but guess what? A Savage youth .243 at $199 is now on my layaway...I can add a slip-on Limbsaver to make it a fit for me, and who knows if my first grand daughter in 10 years or so will need one.

Good deal!
Sounds like the youth model could work out just as well now for your use and even better in the long run for your granddaughter's first center-fire.

Did they actually scan the Nikon scope you were wanting to check if it might be clearance price?
If not I believe I would have had to politely insist that they did and showed me the scanned price before I left that store.
Just scored on the last Leupold binocs for $49 I could find locally....and guess what? they were hidden under the counter and the counter guy did NOT want to look for them. Bad for him a friend of his was talking to him and he could not NOT look as I asked him to do. Bad juju to not look in front of friend....bad.......
Wasnt much on my way to camp. But I found 2 air rifles. Beeman Silver Kodiaks. They come with 2 barrels, .177 and .22. Werent on the shelf but the little girl behind the counter said she saw them somewhere. She comes out with both and scans em. $25 a piece. I said ill take em. Couldnt pass em up for that.
Its because of people like you we cant have nice things
Waaaahhhhhhhh!!!!
🙂 Haha. The poor sporting goods lady today seemed pissed that I scanned the bow. They had it marked at 74.....it came up $35, and she acted all mad like she was holding it till tomorrow's layaway. Free American capatilism is nothing to be ashamed of. In life there's winners and losers. Unlike some people.....you and I make our own luck, and end up with "nice things" on the cheap
What good is 6 toothbrush gonna do when zombies come? You’ll need toothpaste also. Never see that in happy mountain 30 food in 5 Gal bucket.
They really oughta include toothpaste in them things! At this price I can finally have toothbrushes dedicated to certain chores, teeth, rifles, grout, etc. Been a long time coming!
FYI..... Federal blue box ammo in various calibers is $11.97 clearance at Wally Federal also has a $5 per box rebate going on for up to 10 boxes.....so $50 max rebate. I picked up some 270 ...130gr because I needed brass anyway. Can't beat it for $7 per box after rebate.
You literally stole them pahick....just looked them up on Amazon and they run about $120+_good deal!
Definitely! I been keeping an eye on these, well just cause theyre different with the 2 barrels and all. Got some takedowns spyed but they havent dropped yet. Id really like one or 2 of those. Ya never know what might be clearanced in the future, so im always watching. Hey good luck to ya, its addicting finding these deals!
PS...Did get one of those $30 drones but I dont even know how to fly the damn things...should be fun tryin tho...lol.
I got the Savage Axis youth in 243 and it came with a hang tag saying you could buy an adult stock from Savage with proof of purchase for %50 off--called savage black sny, stock $67.50 or wood for $99

Thanks for posting; I might take them up on it. I have the "Muddy Girl" stock on the layaway gun. Boyd's has a great selection but cost more.
Went on Brickseek and saw where saw where a Walmart about an hour and 15 minutes north of me had a 10-22 stainless breakdown at a clearance price of $169, half off the regular $338. So, I now have another one. Some fellow ahead of me had snagged a synthetic blued one for $124, and I got the last gun that was on clearance.
While I paying for the rifle, a man was wanting a pair of binos, and the other clerk went to the case and said he had these on clearance......Nikon Monarch 3 10x42's, regular price $228, clearance at $59. The man instead bought a pair of Bushnells, that were $49.95.....regular price. I'm glad he did, because I left the store with the Nikons.
That Muddy girl is a JOKE---painted mine!!!!! Got a bushnell 16x32 binoc $7 and some kind of laser sighting system from AXEON for $19--don't know what it'll do but it was too good too pass https://vimeo.com/236130609 Just watched this on the AXEON laser and it seems to work pretty well--gotta try it!!!

Cratchetts are gonna have a shltty chrimmus cause of you.
I found a couple of take downs through brickseek but they are listed at full price at the store that has them in stock, a couple of stores that dont have them in stock have them marked at the 169.00.
Will they scan at the sale price at the walmart that has them in stock?

James, what might the SKU be for that stainless 10/22 TD?
For those lucky enough to have these in stock near by.
You can thank me later...........click on this brickseek link and enter your local Zip Code, then Hit the "Search Inventory" button, to see if any come up at $59 near you.

No.
They scan at what Brickseek shows. Doesn't make any sense in many cases. I have two Walmarts 40 miles apart near me and one has had certain items on clearance, while the other one hasn't.
I even scanned the items with my cell phone using the Walmart App to ensure that they really weren't clearanced.
Weird phenomenon, but we are talking about Walmart here.

The "brickseek" link needs you to enter your own zip code and hit "search inventory" button.
when I click on your link it gives me'
Champion Wheelybird Electronic Trap
Yep, and if anyone is interested in getting a $300 electronic clay bird thrower for $59 on clearance, they can click my link and enter there Zip code to search if any are around there area.
Just thought some would be interested in getting a $300 clay bird thrower for $59.
Not exactly a "gun closeout", but wasn't interested in starting a fresh thread on a clay bird chucker.
Those $59 Monarch binos might be the best deal I've ever gotten on hunting gear. It just might be possible to go broke while spending money. Ive racked up on all kinds of stuff and it all started with the $249 Weatherby.

It shows $247 for it here, I thought maybe it was the Nikon Binocs.

Per BrickSeeker: Eleven Walmart stores within 60 +/- miles of me each show "Limited Stock" on the clay pigeon thrower. Only one store out of the eleven has it clearance priced @ $59, all the other Wamart locations are priced @ $247.

Yeah, my local store is $247 as well. Bummer.
A store 90 miles away had two of them in stock for $59 several hours ago. I see now that they are "out of stock."
I've got a store 50 miles away with it showing "o limited stock", but I'm not driving over there.
So, unless my local store drops the price (which they probably won't)...........I'll be missing out, which is a bummer, because I could use one of these in a bad way. My 3 year old Britt would thank me for improving my aim.

Most of the things I've checked out for Walmart clearance priced items on both BrickSeeker and Dexter inventory checker websites have been like that on prices. If any, one maybe two stores at most will show the item at the clearance price and all the rest will show the regular every day store price regardless if it shows 'out of stock', 'limited stock' or 'in stock'.
I started picking up Federal Blue Box for $11.97 with a $5 rebate but not all stores are marking them down yet. The store where I picked up the Weatherby's has not started to clearance any other gun models because the sporting goods manager is on vacation so I will have to watch that store carefully. The is a long list of clearance items on brickseek and dexterclearance but many of the stores have not even started the ammo clearance many other states have.I think all the laptops going on clearance are being hid by employee's even when they say they are in stock.

You never know. Other Walmart stores may mark down some or all the same items to the posted clearance prices later on. I wouldn't bet on it though.
One local Walmart is showing "Limited Stock" of the little portable 800 watt 2 stroke generator clearance priced @ $25 while a half-dozen other locations are showing 2 - 3 or more "In Stock" but priced still at $97 (+/-) every day price.. I counted 4 in stock out on a shelve in a Walmart this past afternoon, all regular priced.
I forgot to mention that I ran into someone I know that has been very "employmentially challenged" in the past and he said he is running to all the Walmarts to find items for resale on Ebay and Armslist.
In the land of the elite, Bozeman, they had a Stainless Fluted Sendero looking $1100 rifle, and none of this low dollar clearance chaff. Surprisingly, I was allowed entry despite my obvious lower caste.
There is one of the wheelybird autofeed trap throwers at the south williamson, ky store. I bought the other one for $59, and the last pair of nikon monarch3 binoculars.

Ha!!!! I was at that bozeman wally in july. There was a bum sitting in his 1973 ford courier. Had his foot propped out the window on the mirror. His "need money for gas" sign was on his windshield. Too uppity to stand and panhandle, he wanted people to bring ot to him

Tell them it ain't just a store event and they don't have that price cause they ain't updated the scanner. It is a national corporate event those scanners are tied into the data base.
They just hope you will believe them and walk away from their friends and family layaway game. tell them to refresh scanner while you watch screen also and show you. Be firm.....
Don't trust them.....
When ya get the deal, say to that honest or dejected employee watching their demeanor change one way or the other. "Bow to your Sensi" Haha haha!!

Every time me and slumlord have told them to refresh scanners The clearance price shows all places we have gone too Some of the clerks are like ok , it probably ain't been done on this one today.
Some of the clerks are pissed cause they realize the gig is up.
Follow the links below..........also, type in your zip code to search your area's inventory. It will also show you prices and in stock status. Keep in mind when it says "quantity 0........limited stock"..........it means they have one rifle in stock. If there are none, it will say "out of stock". Hope that helps.

I guess I need to take y'all with me, because some of the Walmarts are still showing they have those Nikon Monarch scopes that you got for $99, but they swear the ones they have aren't on clearance........yet they are the same SKU as the ones you bought.
As far as I can tell not every Walmart has the same mark downs. I watch the ones with inventory still at full price for them to mark certain sale items down and SO far they have not budged. Mostly Leupold VX-2s, Leupold Acadia Bino and now the Nikon Monarch Binos. It makes no sense when every Walmart for 100 miles has marked their stuff down and one just one Walmart out blue holds several of the same items that everyone else has marked down yet they are at full price.
I ain't made none of em cry yet; But i been cussed twice, there's always tomorrow
I stepped on the witty bitty fewwins of a manager type yesterday. Nobody in sporting goods. Hung around looking anxious as I could after checking all the isles. Finally found him in Auto when I asked if they would page somebody to help me. While I was waiting I went ahead and used their scanner on the bar code I'd brought with me to make sure the rifle I wanted was still there. Told the guy as we were walking back to the counter what rifle I wanted and he sulled up. Got there and had him scan my bar code while I watched. Had a look like he'd just soiled his last pair of shorts. Just looked down at the paper for a while then asked "What are you going to do with this rifle". Left to supposedly go get it out of storage and sent another manager type out to do the deal. He wouldn't even bring it out to me. laffin
I snagged a pair of the Monarch 3 10X42 binos a few weeks back when they were 1/2 price at $125. I think they pretty much suck as the sun is going down and into dusk. Major white out/flare. They are going back.

Has to be more to it than just refreshing the scanner. I put 2 on layaway today, and they came up in the computer (not the handheld scanner) at the regular price, not the closeout price.
Just crusin the bricklist and found some ammo deals for anybody around Charlotte. Walmart on Albermarle Road has 9 boxes of .270 Win 130gr Fusion for $5/box.
Arlington Street in Salisbury has 4 boxes of 30-30 170gr Fusion for $4.50/box.
I bought a Vanguard Select in 243 today for $249.99, plus 7% NE sales tax, for an out the door price of $267.49.
I don't need another 243, but you can't really walk away from a NIB Vanguard for $267.49 can you?
truck gun! cheaper than a Marlin
Yes, but the Marlins are, aesthetically, darned close to the summit of the entire Savage 110 family and a better choice for the tinkerer who wants to swap his own barrels.

Damn....and with Federals $5 per box (10 box limit) rebate......they would be free. I'll give ya $30 for them if you buy them and ship them to me.....on top of shipping costs(which would be around $35 max).
They are $24.95 every walmart near me. I keep hearing about the $5 fusion 270....but no luck in this neck of the woods.
I just checked and that's a 75 mile round trip for me probly cussin all the way or I'd do it for you .....been trying to snag a set of those Leupolds. Next time I head near there I'll check stock. A lot of this stuff I think is just stuck back and forgot about. Thanks
Anybody got the sku #'s for the Wby wood sporters in 308 or 270? Ran the 243 and 30'06's for my 60/75 mile area stores and came up with nada in inventory. Ron
Purchase 1 box of Federal® Power-Shok® or Non-Typical™ rifle , not Fusion
Might wanna tell federal that......... Here's a direct quote from them "Get up to $50 BACK. Purchase 1 box of Fusion® rifle ammunition by Federal® and receive $5.00 back. Limit 10 boxes/$50 per address.
Qualified Canadian residents will receive a rebate check in U.S. funds
Product must be purchased between 8/1/2018 through 12/31/2018"
I ain't made none of em cry yet; But i been cussed twice, there's always tomorrow
Haha.......usually my wife is all the clout I need, as she is the penny pincher in the family, and she loves a bargain. It just makes me wonder why every Walmart in the area had the very same items on clearance, then you run across one and it hasn't marked down a thing.
I asked an employee about it and he said those were management decisions, and he only did what management told him he could do.
Ive asked those questions too. The answer was "its up to management"
I asked it that way once- hey why in the hell is it that you all only have #4/ 3" turkey supremes
Who the f uck hunts turkeys with number 4? Ain't yall got some #6 in 3-1/2? A man's fuggin shotgun shell.
Nope, billy jean king, the dykey sporting goods dept man said that's all she orders cause of mgt above her told her to order that. I'm like they need to move you back to shoes or pet foods. Wtf
I guess when it boils down to it, Walmart isn't much different from any other store. They all have their good managers and their bad ones. I was very impressed by the one I was in Saturday in Beaver Dam Kentucky. It was run better than any I've been in around here, and the 2 guys in the sporting goods department knew their stuff.
Back here in the Hoptown/Clarksville/Fort Campbell area, they scrape the bottom of the barrel on the people that they hire, as far as their knowledge about what they're selling. Of course, if I had to put up with the typical Walmart shopper in this area, I imagine I'd be a pizzy mood all day too.
Walmart doesn't necessarily set the price the same on the same exact in stock item at each store and not even at stores in the same general area. I've seen it happen a few times in the past at three different Walmart stores within around 50 miles or less of each other.
When I asked a department manager as to why I was told that their prices are set according to what the corporate bean counters say the fair market price in each specific store location should be.
My best guess is Walmart's prices are largely determined by whether or not there's serious competition from other businesses that sell the same products priced as cheap or cheaper than their's and are near enough to be a threat.
An example is right now and has been for a few years at one Walmart their store brand "GV" whole, 2% and skim milk is priced at less than half of what it is at the other two Walmarts . I've seen the same with electronics and a few other things as well.
Shootem..close only counts in horseshoes and the WalMart Closeout List...Page 17 is where the Brickseek info is an that was close enough to work for me ....now to use my family's zip codes scattered around Texas to find sumthin to buy. Thanks for the huge timesaver help. Ron
Went to the Dubuque IA store cause BS said they had 2 Ruger Ranch rifles last Friday. Guy right up said "Nope, don't have any". Today it still shows 2 in stock. They're holding them for someone. If they were on layaway it would show 0 in stock. Fkers. I was told I couldn't put clearance guns on layaway because their computer NICS was broken. Convinced them to do it as I wanted a Weatherby DLX and a Ruger. Went to do the layaway and the beitch comes out without the Ruger and says the store manager is holding the Ruger for someone. WTF?
This clearance was started over 15 days ago. You snooze you lose. Deals at 50% off firearms don't last more than a few days. At least in Gods country where more shooters than Libs frequent the Wally's in my neck of the woods.
The Mini 14's lasted 1 day around here. (Sad to say I didn't get in on any).
And, by day 3, only a few Vanguards were left within an 80 mile radius of where I live with 1/2 dozen stores around.
There are still scopes and binos and leathermans to be had!!!!!
No VX-2 in my area at all. Only few Acadia's are way above $49. The one bino priced right withing decent distance from me was unlocatable. Emptied out the counter storage and not to be found. Checked customer service just to get another reading and confirmed 1 is showing in stock. Asked where it might be? Asst mgr type, "Probably walked off" was the wink & nod. I said "But it's locked up." "People have keys". So distrust from the inside.
I sat on this info for over a week and a half. Already got a Vanguard in 30-06, I said. Got a Win model 70 in 270, I said. No need for a 243, I said. Used my "extra" scope on my last project, I reminded myself. Today I own a new 243 Vanguard Sporter Deluxe... I have no self control.

I had no real need for the 308 syn I picked up either, but having an extra scope and dies/bullets/brass laying around was too much so I caved. If the deluxes drop again I will have one in 243 to give to one of my sons one day.
Checked Lowe's out on BrickSeek last night to see what they might have clearance priced. Today I went there and bought a basic gas grill regular price $99.00 clearance priced @ $24.75 + tax.
Checked brickseek and saw where a Walmart close to me showed that they had a $249 Vanguard 243 left. It showed low stock, which typically means one. Went there this morning, and finally found the sporting goods manager, who said he thought there was one. Their computer was supposedly down, and he did call a store manager who confirmed that it was, and told me to leave my number and they'd call when the computer came back up. The sporting goods guy then said he would go check inventory and let me know for sure. He comes back and says it's not there, must have sold it last night. Brickseek still shows it. I'm thinking he's hiding it. Didn't really need it, but I can sell it later so was going to buy it anyway.
No ammo on clearance, and haven't seen any locally, which makes me believe there wasn't much of a local clearance. Didn't see anything else on clearance either. One store fairly close also showed a Vanguard 270 in stock, but when I called they said they didn't have any left. Is brickseek wrong, or are they hiding it.

ROFL lotta that goin' around. I have a W'by 30/06 and a Savage .243. didn't need either one until I did.

I already know what slumlord's gonna say.....lol.
Might give the Dexter -- Walmart inventory and clearance website a try.
Put the zip code for the store you were at and the SKU or UPC in and see what it shows as "In stock"
(When I check BrickSeek It's showing "Out Of Stock" at all 12 Walmart locations within 50- 75 miles of me but the real kicker is every store is now showing the price as $564...)
Had to drive 90 miles to get this, (good thing the F150 got 19 MPG on the trip, so I only spent around $30 in fuel for the round trip of 180 miles)....................
Made it worth it, cause I was driving 45 miles in that 90 mile direction to stop and get this anyhow.................... $50 in the Craigslist classifieds at the next town over.
Clearance is looking pretty scant in my neck of the woods. I'm super happy to have gotten the last $59 trap thrower within 250 miles of me.
So far, every Walmart worker has been very good to work with as well.
went to my local walmart today after some ammo. They had exactly what Brickseek showed. I ended up with 5 boxes of federal blue box 308, 3 boxes of 243 @ $11.97 per box, 2 boxes of Rem 270 corelokt @ $13.74, and 3 550 rd boxes of federal 22 rimfire @ $19.94 each. With the rebate on the federal ammo it was too good of a deal to pass up. Unfortunately there are no weatherbys, leupolds, nikons, beeman air rifles, or champion traps within 100 miles any more.

Bunch of Weatherbys still around me. WalFart employees are hiding the Rugers.
Seeing the Federal rebates for Power-Shok and the identical Non-Typical lines, I dug around the other day just seeing some out of area stores with the ones I am looking for.
However, got on here tonight to strategize my buying spree, as I am headed out on the road tomorrow, and I see even my local Walmart has the blueboxes marked down and well-stocked. No free ammo here BUT stay away until after about 9am tomorrow. LOL $11.97-5.00=cool
I filled up on ammo as well. Crazy not to for $7 a box. My vanguard deluxe 270 shoots the 130gr Fed blue box 1/2 to 3/4" at 100yds. Same with 150gr blue box in my 308 Kimber. It's very accurate ammo. Haven't tried the 100gr blue box 243 yet.......but suspect good things.

Those 2 old buzzards south of the state line cleaned all the Walmarts out around here. The only thing they didn't take were the $99 Savage shotguns. I imagine they'll go back and get them pretty soon.
Don't let the empty ammo shelves dissuade you. Despite a reluctant WallyDude I loaded up with 30 boxes of clearance ammo from the back! That's it I'm done!

Haha haha!!!! Tiny Tim can have one for Christmas. But not a weatherby.....
The ammo has been tempting, but I roll my own, and don't shoot factory centerfire stuff.
Neither do I.................scept when it's $7 per box (after rebate). Can't load them myself for that cheap (starting out with virgin brass anyhow). I needed brass for .243, .308, and .270 anyhow, so It made sense for me.
I've been rolling my own for 22 years of my 35 on this planet.
Man, I hope this closeout schit is just about over. I hit the local Walmart today for some of that closeout ammo, and then, for schits & giggles, bought a half-off grill from Lowes............
I think I bought too many boxes for the rebate....dang......and one wally world tried to stick the regular price on them.....got out the door and something about it hit me....went back in and finally got a manager to fix it and got the $$ back...other 2 places I went had the correct price on shelf....and I was nice and left some on the shelf for others.
Checked Lowe's out on BrickSeek last night to see what they might have clearance priced. Today I went there and bought a basic gas grill regular price $99.00 clearance priced @ $24.75 + tax.

Went to that link and found that Charbroil. Do you have to be a member of Brickseek?
No,
I just wrote down all the specifics on a post-it note, went to the nearest Lowe's store where BrickSeek showed it clearance priced and bought it. Took a little while to find it though as it was the last one at that store. Finally found it already assembled on display outside the store among a bunch of other grills.
BrickSeek shows a bunch of charcoal grills at Lowe's but you'd have to click on each one to see which are still in inventory, what store locations have that particular grill and which stores if any have it at the clearance price.
Were it says, "Need help finding a Product #? Search here", click on the blue Search here, and then type in ---> charcoal grill <--- where it says, "Enter product keywords...".
I just noticed that the ammo rebate can be done online at https://promotions.vistaoutdoor.com. It also shows that champion has a rebate on it's products, so if the wheelybird trap isn't the 2.0 version you can get a rebate on it as well.

Thanks so much. I've got $10 headed my way supposedly for my $59 wheelybird.

Cool! I have a whole whopping $50 rebate en route.............
Bring the pain....it's bling-bling when I come to your town.
Miss Piggy was jerkin all the binos and slamming merch down all huffy on the glass counter. I seen the edge of the monarch box peeking out, covered up with simmons crap. Other warthog gal comes over and asks me if there was some sort of problem. While miss piggy, all the blood was rushin to her head having to be bent over diggin thru the cabinet.
Anyway- score again
Headed to lexington and then to Natty town up 75
*i have started carrying the box lid from a previous scope to show them want I'm there for. They still showed a vx-2 but apparently I was on the threshold of having security called on me so I let em have it. *If* it was actually there.

Find me some of them $5 Fusion O'conners and send them my way. I'll trade you for a "hyper tough snap off knife", it's got great ergos......you'll love it.
Hard to "catch" what you've already gotten into. Besides.........Brickseek is showing Trojan's on clearance.
Out west, the majority respects the O'conner..........even Walmarts around here know it's worth more than $5 a box.
BrickSeek showed 2 boxes of the Federal Fusion ammo in.270 at the $5 clearance price in stock at one of the Owensboro, KY Walmart stores a couple of days ago but it's gone now. Only Fusions it's showing now at nine Walmarts around my area are all priced $20.74 and only in .308.

It's a travesty! 3 in stock at my store, but Brickseek shows $24.67 a box.

They got the ot6,s stunted red headed stepchild in the powershock blue box at my local walmart. Seen it this morning picking up some antifreeze. Chuckled to myself about it. .243 and .308 also.

That was going on someone's Remingdog 783 .270 to replace the Bushnell sportveiw package scope. That was being held under the counter for someone it was promised too.
You are a dream destroyer!!
You run those sku,s you have on that zip I gave ya get
I just located another per my text to ya few minutes ago.
SOB I got a bead on a Nikon scope, tomorrow! And it's payday again!
It's also walmart employee payday too..,hahaha
I gotta head out early before they can get their dick skinners on some loose cash....after they make they make their late, 27% apr Silverado payment of course
Found me a set of Leupold binoculars for $49 today, first time I have been to a walmart that has had them. I also got 3 pair of Bushnell 10 power for $17 each that may become christmas gifts. Things are pretty much cleaned out around here, but I am in Cheyenne today. I have already maxed out my Federal ammo rebate so I have been leaving the ammo for others.
Got the ole...."man we've had several people asking about that scope...we don't have it"
I insisted he pull a lot of the extra stock out from under the display. Nadda it wasnt there. He didnt seem shady, kind of a mama's boy with a shell necklace and justin timberlake hair. Lol
I left it alone.
I think I'm done with all this latest quest.
I did get six boxes of that bargain federal ammo and a couple of SOG knives for a $5 spot.
Yep, no chit'n. Someone had it stashed. I was like, "you haven't looked there, or in there. How about under there? Over there. Maybe it's in another scope box....." I don't feel bad at all. LOL
Next place.... A Mini 14 sold this morning and the one still showing is being held till Monday as a courtesy since their system was down. Win some loose some.
Ahhh Dudes I hope you got seperate receipts for each claim. And not all on one trying em at different address,s Also toss up how you pay for em Credit card , debit card , cash The transaction source funding and all that register info is on the receipt
Just saying Ya need ta break it up some ta play the game on em.
Monarch 3 2.5 - 10 x 42 slumlord has 6 or 7 of em I'm thinking by now.
I got one and a syn .308 left.
Also some lupy bino,s to give for Christmas to 2 female officers I know in the army.
I dropped off a syn 0t6 weatherby with a monarch 3 earlier today, with my ffl guy to get it on its way to Maine for an old friend . He is covering all the cost plus shipping and ffl both sides. My cost for the rifle and scope was 386. Told him to send me 400 and call it good. He has taken care of me with some gun deals over the years.
Uh............Blue Box Fed 100's shoot pretty decent...............Got a line on a bunch for tomorrow morning. Hope I make it there before all the neckbeards beat me to um. Not going to reload when they shoot this good.
Can't believe these JapGuards shoot this well.
Not half bad to look at either.
Whom'ever said they are thinking about replacing the factory trigger with aftermarket.......WTF?
Best factory trigger I've felt, and I've felt a few.
Was suprised to see the recoil lug actually bedded in acraglass. No wonder they guarantee sub MOA.
Do you think I should sand out the speed bump? HAHAHAHAA
Well...mmm-snort....it would definitely shoot better if you paid Elmo down at the LGS about $900 for that same set up. Plus another $100 for "professional gunsmithing services" of getting the rings and bases installed and it boresighted. It's so worth it to bend over for such good service.

Apparently you just don't get it.
😀
Haha, Yeah, and I prolly should have lapped my $2.50 clearance weaver rings and $5.95 weaver bases (for a Rem 700) as well.
Oh, by the way, it shoots a random reload with 95 gr SST and 40.5 grain IMR 4350 pretty decent as well.
The above factory load target was shot 2 hours ago.
This target was shot the first day I got the rifle.
I been working on slumlord to let me redo the wood on his .308 after deer season Told him that quase moto Monte Carlo cheek piece had ta go. Also smooth out and round over alot of the angles and sharp edges on it
Working on him , Cause the yard apes putting trigger locks on it at Wal-Mart mauled up the finish somewhat in the trigger area.
I got 2 S2 3-9x42,s One on a CVA Kodiak pro mag. 45 ml Another on a customized Kar 98 8mm Mauser
The one on the Kodiak I yanked off my mod70 ot6
The ot6 ain't gonna see the woodline this year anyways, I gotta break the cherry on the Mauser with me
Contemplating a big sky for the ot6 after deer season or maybe another s2 3-9x 42 if I can get one for a clearance price around Christmas time Keep my eyes open.
I had a s1 on a ultra slug hunter 20ga shooting Hastings lasar accurate 410 gr discarding sabot slugs
Hardest recoiling firearm I ever shot in my life I put around 100 of those rounds thru that gun Scope never lost zero for the 4 yrs I had it Sold that combo like a fool of course.
Sightron makes scopes that work...... I was a life long leupold person for almost 40 yrs. Not anymore.

Sightron Big Sky's and Weaver "new design" Grand Slams are all I use for "NON Dialing scopes"..........also have a few weaver classics (japan) that are pretty bomber.
SWFA 6x Mil Quad and 10x Mil Quad are all I use for twisting titties...........
Leupold can suck it..............I was done with them back in 2000 when I could get Burris Signatures for cheaper and better optics/tracking/everything!!!
I bought a new FX3 6x42 and new Vx-2 3-9 CDS and still the same junk. Needless to say, I don't own either any longer.
I had a bad experience in Dec 2016 thru Oct 2017 with a vx3i abortion.
Spent 24 yrs in the infantry
That scope did chyt I never seen Like putting 2 clicks of right on it at 100 yds looking thru it at the target And watching the reticle move diagnol 12 to 14 inches to the 4 o'clock off target
Love the term "wonky" the Aussie and New Zealand dudes use for luepold.
Only thing lupy in my house are the clearance bino,s I got for Christmas presents.

Haha.......let me tell you about Paris, TN.......
When I first started looking for the Nikon Monarch's, brickseek showed they had one. I called a week ago last Thursday, and was told that they didn't have any, the girl said she sold the last 2 earlier in the week. It was still showing up that they had one on Monday, and I had a friend going that way, he stopped, checked it out, and the clerk told him they didn't have one.
I checked brickseek again early yesterday morning, and it was still there, so wanting to make a road trip anyway, me and wifey headed down that wa early. I showed the dude working there my phone with the bar code and brickseek, He scanned the barcode with his Wally world scanner and it showed one left in inventory. He crawled all over the floor pulling chit outa cabinets, couldn't find one. He went in the back to the gun room and said he couldn't find one there. A woman clerk asked him what he was looking for and he told her, she then said that they were sold out........but she looked like the cat that had swallowed the canary. You will never tell me that she didn't have one hid somewhere, waiting on some guy that was cracking her to come by and pick up after he got paid. This morning brickseek shows them as being sold out.......so go figure.
Anyway, I had a backup plan, and we lit out cross country to Wickliffe, KY, crossed the Mississippi and Ohio, and drove to Sikeston, MO. Scored on a $99 Nikon, and ate at Lamberts, so it turned out okay. They had shown up on brickseek as having one left, and this morning are showing as sold out.....which tells me that somebody in Paris was lying. I also know where there are 2 more, but I was wore out driving, and I came on back home.
I saw that ammo at Paris, and also some at Sikeston, but figured you'd show up sooner or later and didn't want it to be a dry run for you. I don't shoot factory ammo in my centerfire rifles, and I have enough brass and other components to last me the rest of my life. Also have more ammo loaded up than I'll ever shoot. Thought about buying the ammo and peddling it off to the local Mennonites, but then they'd start worrying the chit out of me for more stuff, so I'll pass on that.
On a side note.......there were no more Vanguards anywhere I looked yesterday....4 Walmarts. That's okay, I don't want to arm the whole Mennonite community....lol.
James the .308 syn was still in Franklin Mallory lane Wal-Mart when I checked yesterday. Go snag it man..
Yeah, I saw that on brickseek, but I'm done with buying rifles. Didn't need the ones I bought, except for the little takedown 10-22. It's as accurate a rifle as I've ever shot. Besides that, going to Franklin would mean driving thru Nashville, and I'd rather be whipped than have to do that.
Just do it ... You seen how screamingweasel,s .243 shot with factory bargin ammo.
I have 4 243's, all Remington 700's, and I don't think I need anymore. Every one of them is capable of sub MOA as long as I do my part. If I did run upon a $249 Vanguard, I'd just buy it to resell anyway.
Slumlord ran into a brick seek listed lupy and nikon I think Same store
Got the Nikon But the lupy could not be "located"
Ya right....
I told him I bet it was in the top of the false face of the back counter gun cabinet
Clerk emptied out all the under c0unter cabinets. That is where he found the Nikon all hid under binos and other crap.
This whole thread tells "incidents" from across the country with crap like this.
It ain't just a few people on here on to employees shenanigans at Wal-Mart Its alot of guys bringing this crap out. Now that we all got access to brick seek it is game on like donkey Kong. Keep a 24hr network going on with it!!!!!
Brickseek shows Bushnell binos marked down to $17 dollars. Asked to have one scanned yesterday and the clerk insisted the marked price was right. she was shocked when the register scanner showed the mark down and asked how I knew....
The "flip-fone" schmucks won't be able to access to the walmart app or brickseek- so it's a little tough to be barrelling down the interstate with your piece of paper you printed off 6 hours earlier on your beloved desktop epson printer.
Shlt changes on the fly
This whole latest foray just rekindled all my thoughts from 2008 when walmart employees were hiding 22 ammo and/or also saving it for their friends/family or freddy the fatf uck LGS owner. Sending text msgs to confidants about expected time of deliveries, etc. Biscuits and donuts being brought in for walmart sporting goods employees in exchange for favored status on ammo heads up.
It's all good though, karma bites you in the ass eventually

If you get a twit that wont entertain a rescan...just tell em "ok I'll take it" so you can go thru the motions of having the actual point of sale scanner blip it. If it doesnt ring up the suspected reduced clearance...just say ahhh fuggit i changed my mind I dont want it.
The handheld mobile scanner they have in their pocket, that's the one that sometimes isnt always refreshed.
I snared another Nikon scope for $99. Did a brickseek search for the Richmond KY area where my daughter lives, and found one close to her. She went and got it for me. I had thought about asking Bristoe to run over and get it, but didn't want to interrupt his lawn mowing.
In case anyone in that area is interested, the Cynthiana KY Walmart has one listed on brickseek.
You guys are late to the show with most of the stuff. Long running thread on ar15 com has a pretty good list of all the discounts on the 1st page. Unless you find some out of the way store that still has it, its probably gone until they run another big one in february.
Yeah that ones a rumor might happen at some locations but we see $397 here too...
BrickSeek shows only one out of eleven Walmart locations within reasonable driving range in this area that has 2 in stock at this moment.
The other ten stores are showing "Limited stock", which I assume means just one in inventory. All eleven locations have them priced at $379.
No idea what BrickSeek shows for store inventory in other areas but I'd imagine with only one store out of eleven in my area with more than one in inventory, if they were to be clearance priced down to $184 you best know about it the moment it happens and better yet hope to already be inside a store where they happen to be clearance priced.
May be late to the show, but if you search for the walmart clearance deals you may find them. I found some Fusion 30-30 ammo today for $4.50/box. Been on clearance since June. Bought all they had.

Thing is there's a lot of "out of the way" stores. Scattered around, there's scopes, binos and even maybe a Mini14 here or there. There are over 6000 Walmarts. Cheers for all.

Youre right.
All these retired do-nothin people and mr mom type dudes have swooped in like buzzards and picked everything clean. Been making hard for me to pick up a small deal here and there.
People like jamesjr. He drives 300 miles just have some rolls throwed at him and sweeps up bargains along the way.

Yes James been scouping up everything he just won't admit It...... 27 syn weatherbys in .270 (hahaha) And 28 Nikon,s
Hahahaaa!!!!
He runs a Mennonite sporting goods shack where he resells it all to them minus tax and 4473 stuff They have a kid without shoes make phone calls and place orders to him between 7am and 8am Tuesday's and Thursdays
He photocopied a bunch of premade receipts under the name of Yoder for em all.

lol....I drove 200 miles and all I got was air rifles. On my way to camp. Its all good though, glad people have been filling up. I was just givin a warning cause anyone starts now putting effort ins gonna waste a lot of gas.
I aint really a bino person. I been using a baby pair of steiners for any deer ops around here.
I've been passing those up and for the most paying no attention to them. Who knows how many pairs I couldve scored out on my own. I've run between nashville to loovull, from lexington to cinci and then from nashville out to west tn all this week
FYI - In case anyone might be interested, BrickSeek shows a lot of other non hunting/shooting related things clearance priced. too, and some of it quite substantially. One example is some outdoor yard and patio furniture and furniture sets and another is above ground swimming pools.
I could get one of those pools and stock it with tilapia. Then build myself a chicken coop over it, let the tilapia eat the chicken crap. Like they do in china, where all that frozen walmart tilapia comes from.

Broad spectrum type of thing.
Talk about a bunch of jealous ole farts.......lol.......ya'll sound like it. I can't help it if I have a ready made market around here. I'm just getting back at them for having to wash all the horse chit off my truck after I drive down the road where they've been. I wish I had bought more of those Weatherby's. But they ain't getting my Nikon scopes. They don't want to pay what I'd ask anyway. They like Tasco's and Simmons.

Walmart has some pretty dang good size ones clearance priced big time now..
Had to go to the "big city" to get some shoes and what have you for the kids.
Stopped at 3 Walmarts in the area that had ammo.
Friggen lucky to grab 2 boxes at each walmart. Inventory is low around here. Good news is the Fed Blue Box is just a "Roll Back" and NOT clearance. They got more in stock in my home town while I was out. Got, home and they were gone. I'll be checking Brickseek daily to hopefully grab another 10 boxes of the .243, 100 grain.
Federal High Brass for $3.00 a box......bought all they had. Good chukar loads.
Could have bought 10 more boxes of 270, but already have 15...........so passed.
Was mainly looking for .243...........bought all I could find.
Brickseek showed a wood stocked .243 at a walmart. Sketchy employee was like "yeah, we don't have one". I'm like, well here on my phone it says you do...........haha. He stumbled/studdered and was like "Oh, yeah, well a guy came in and were holding that one for him."
They had a .270 wood stock (with a crap plywood stick on it.......worst wood i've seen on a Weatherby" .......I passed.
Also, had a 308 Synthetic on the rack.............I passed as I already have one.
One lady was a real "peach" and super friendly to get me a box of .243 ammo............haha, she was a "good one"........what a RIP.
All and all .............good times.
My Mother In Law is getting the 10 box rebate on this one!!!

That would be awesome!!!!
[bleep] fish with Egg drop soup for dinner one day
Chicken the next.
Them Chinese are good at multi tasking with animals
You would smoke peyote if you had a religious exemption.
Experience the meltdown like Beavis in the desert
Lol
That would be cool paying no taxes. Like people on welfare as a way of life who vote for democrats And they don't have to pass a Pizz either to get all the free chyt
But the working white man paying taxes for That chyt . Has to pass Pizz test to get hired and stay hired alot of times.

My new Party Chairman 3 binocs are MADE IN CHINA....
Yesterday stopped by one and took a look around...brick says 2 of those Beeman silver kodiaks are here...very polite young man with his yes sirs found them in the back in the corner on a pallet ....then 2 waves and 1 supertool ...nothing much else but a butt load of winchester 410s 3" 7s and 12s 2 3/4s 6s for $4 and $3 a box respectfully.....today, one by my neck of the woods that had no price decrease until today apparently, found 1 Leopold acadia, (young girl was very nice) 3 revs, 1 buck mesa, 3 Gerber 1 flips, 2 Gerber sharkbellys, 2 bucks 715s, 2 sogs, 1 Kershaw, and a couple Camillus titaniums. ...note, all of the knives were on the clearance Isle and not in the sporting goods....all were $7 and $4 except the mesa was $11
Also, some truck tires are marked down too. Like $55 a tire for dexteros....
A buddy was out of town working and brickseek showed 11 pairs of the nikon binoculars for $59 and 3 of the Beeman air rifles for $25 in stock. He said the woman that helped him couldn't find any of either one. He said she did look and tried, but nothing. Said they would take his name and number and have the manager call when they get in. Oh well!
Think of the money they save just by not installing shutters and gutters on their $300,000 homes. Or the license plates they dont have to buy
And taxes they don't pay into the man cause of some b.s. religious exemption chyt
Let alone tons of unreported income in hard cash in their informal community banking and holding system.
All in the name of God as a pretext....
But in the name of money anything goes....
Renegade, I'm the last person that will take up for the Amish/Mennonites, because I wished they'd never moved into this area. Their need for land has jacked the land prices way up, and any hopes I had of buying more land went out the door when they started moving in and buying everything up. Plus, even though they're good neighbors for the most part, and have done a lot of good things for the area, I was perfectly content with the way it was before they got here.
BUT.......they do pay taxes, everything except Social Security, and they have to sign an exemption for that. Now, having said that, they do have ways of avoiding certain things, but so do a lot of other people. They run a lot of stuff through as farm exempt, which it shouldn't be, but so do others. I delivered their mail for a long time, and I saw that they paid income tax, and some of them paid a lot too.
I was always led to believe that the "Church" owned a lot of property and therefore beat the tax system, but I have never seen any proof of that. On the other hand, the Catholic Church is one of the wealthiest institutions there is.
Two things I learned while on a quest to buy these clearance items.........
I asked one of the sporting goods clerk if they could hold an item until I got there, and he said no. He said that he could lose his job if the store caught him doing that. Now, you can't tell me that it doesn't happen, because I'll guarantee you that it does. I went after several items that brickseek showed as being low stock, meaning there was one at the store......and in every case except one, that proved to be true, as I bought the item. The one case was the scope I was after in Paris TN, and that night, it showed up as being sold out. I'm positive it was being held for someone, so that proved to me that some employees didn't get the message that they weren't supposed to hold items.
Also, not every store had items on clearance, or if they did, didn't have them marked as low as other stores. One Walmart had a number of the Nikon scopes that were marked clearance, $357 instead of $397. I asked the clerk to scan them, and he did, at $357. I told him I'd bought them for $99, and he said that his store had failed to make budget, and couldn't drop prices below a certain point. I asked him about the Vanguards that were $249, and he said $349 was low as they'd dropped theirs, but they had sold out at that price.
Who knows what was really the real story here, as you have good people that work at Wallyword, and you have chitty ones that will lie to your face.

MMMM. Lambert’s cafe. Home of the throwed roll. It is worth the drive. We go to the one in ozark,mo.
Are those Axis stocks really that schitty? Like I said before, theres no more Weatherbys around, hell even the Axis are gone, except for those Muddy Girl youths. Theres 6 or 7. I hate to let them go for $199. Worth it??
At the Walmart we shop at most often it's fairly common for there not be anyone working in the sporting goods department at all. About the only time is usually when they're putting up stock. Can be a lengthy wait just to get any store associate to show up, let alone one with keys to locked merchandise and also allowed and knows how to sell firearms and ammo.. A wait of anywhere from 10 - 20 minutes isn't unusual. Paging for assistance multiple times is almost the norm.
BrickSeek shows ten of eleven stores with, "Limited stock' and one as, "Out of stock"around my area. The ten Walmarts with, "Limited stock" are all priced $394, the one "Out of stock" store is/was the only one showing as clearance priced at $199.
Scored a $5 orbital sander, a 20v Black and Decker lithium drill for $7 a sling for $1 and a 2 pack of circular saw blades for $2.50 this week. I think I'm done unless they cut the remaining Weatherbys in half again, which will be impossible to resist even with a full safe already.
Be sure to check your local Lowes too, they are clearing out a bunch of stuff at 75% off.
I had a counter kid in the Reno Walmart try to hide a Leupold 8x42 when Brickseek said there were 2 for sale. All kinds of excuses, suggestions and shrugged shoulders, "We just don't have it", until I got a manager to look. Then, surprise! the box showed up in the cabinet under the cash register, not locked up like it was supposed to be.
For anyone who is looking, the Walmart on 7th Street in Reno has two Vanguards, both synthetic, one .270 an one 30-06, both marked $249.95.
There aint a Weatherby for 300 miles around me...lol. Did find a bunch of those Muddy Girl Axis 243s. No nieces though for Christmas presents.
Paint them!
I thought about it. I never held one, but everyone says how flimsy the stocks are. I dont know if I wanna spend 199, and then throw more money on another stock. Does anyone make Axis stocks?

Boyds will run ya $170. New take off composites will go for $40 - $100 on fleabay. I bought one of my boys a new Savage 111 youth in 7mm-08 with the black composite stock. Yep, it's flimsy on the forend. The rifle is a good enough shooter though and someday we'll upgrade to a Boyds. As for the $200 pink .243's......meh. Everybody's getting all wet in the shorts over them, but for just a little more $$$ if you really "NEED" a new gun.....I'd keep my 2 hundo in my pocket and walk back out the door at wallyworld.
Rather than an Axis II, I got sliced deli cheese for $1.13 per 8 ounce package! Roll Back baby! Got one more try for binocs, tonight then I am done!
Added: no find'em. Biggest damned whine fest ever. Four employees and me and it took 15 to get the fuggers to look. Long-hair skinny jeans boy could not fathom doing anything besides standing there. Missoulaexit!
Yeah, I think everything's pretty much been gobbled up, so I guess I'll just have to bide my time til the next big round of closeouts, which I heard should be in February. Never did manage to get one of those Nikon Monarch scopes, but there's always next time...........
Hartselle Alabama Walmart as of today still has 30-06 and 270 synthetic weatherbys in stock. Clearance $259 I just can’t justify a purchase. I’ve been into growing my handgun collection and have several unfired and unbloodied rifles to play with. Go get them boys.
Went grocery shopping at the Walmart we usually go to this past Saturday. Early after noon, store was packed to the gills with shoppers. Typical, same old - same old - no store 'associate' anywhere to be found in the sporting goods department. They've even removed the 'ring for assistance' buzzer that used to be on top of the sales counter by the cash register.
Stopped in on a trip to a Dr at the one store showing 3 Monarchs. Couldn’t find them even after the Older Associate looked “Everywhere” another Associate knew right away they were out. I hung around a bit and the Old Guy didn’t get the memo to hide them for his other Associate. He kept digging and found nd 2 of them. He commented on how they where in the wrong spot buried in the back of a cabinet. Apparently people had been stopping in all weekend looking for them. Gotta love a stubborn old guy.
A few towns up has 1 Riflescope in stock and about an hour south has 1 very expensive Nikon camera dirt cheap but at an hour each I’m reluctant to travel to them to check.
And 45 minutes east had 1 243 Vanguard left. I’m not sure I can use it but may make the big loop. All had blue box Federal so at least I can grab some of that.
My wife and I went to the beach this weekend. It was a pretty good stroll from the condo to the beach. There were a number of times I wished for a backpack cooler. Yesterday I found these. They are a screaming good deal at that price.
Ya I can, ida done the same if I coulda found what yas got.....lol. All I ended up with are 2 Beemans, a Bushnell trail cam and a drone. But im gonna take a drive shortly and see if I can get some of that ammo, crap load around here. And I said I wasnt gonna but if they got one of those Axis Muddy Girls ill grab it. Ill still go get the Tikka mentioned in another thread next week. And I did find a 835 Turkey for 199, might grab it too if its still there.
Glad I didnt get addicted like y'all did or id be eating beens til rifle season...lol.
if you all missed the Nikon binos, there's a few for sale on the classifieds. BNIB!
I have one WM I hope to check for a set of the Nikons and some Federal blue box ammo. I had some before but I didn't think it was part of the rebate (thought rebate was for the Federal Fusion). But if for the blue box Powershock, I'll grab some.

Yes, go get them.
Vista outdoors is having the rebate on both Federal Fusion and Federal Power Shok among others. They are separate rebates.......so up to 10 boxes of fusion and up to 10 boxes of powershok per address qualifies.
Also, the 11.97 price on the Feder Powershok is NOT Clearance, it's merely a roll back. So, they are getting more in stock.....be patient if your local store is out of stock.....they will be getting more.
My local was out of stock on the 270 and 243 power shocks until yesterday.............Brickseek rules. I was able to snag them just as they lady got done stocking the shelves.

Guess they are made for inbreds with narrow eye socket spacing. I couldn't open them up enough to enjoy full parallel pupil axis.
Or maybe I'm the missing link. I can't do do anything with them. I'll pass mine on to a nephew on my wife's side. He'll go bonkers anyway over em. Unless he grows out of them too. Maybe they are based off of oriental skull dimensions.
Well heres a first...for me anyhow. I got the Axis Muddy Girl. Go to the next store, never been here. Nice woman is standing there and the gun case is empty. I asked her if she could scan my barcode for the 835 turkey. She does and says yup, theres 2 in the back. But we cant sell firearms yet. This store never sold firearms and is in the process of setting up. I asked if I could put it on layaway. Nope thats considered a transaction. I never would figured that. So I asked her if she had any 10/22 takedowns in the back. Scans the barcode. Yup, 6 at 149. But again cant sell em yet. Grrrrrrrrr!!!! Sob aint my day!
Its an hour away doubt ill be back this way unless I make a special trip. Oh well. Ill keep tabs.

That's worth a special trip for those prices.
Maybe, but im usually too busy to be fast enough and get there before the buzzards flock on em...lol. We'll see.
Just bought a savage axis in 243 for my daughter. Pink one was 199, bait and switch for a different camp pattern rang up at 367 after the background check and all was done. Ended up giving me the difference on a gift card so it worked out and I have a greenish blackish camo for my daughter. Wasn't totally smooth, b/c took 2 minutes to clear, the rest was a little less than smooth, but Brian and Brad did their best to make it right. Thanks for the leads
I see a new Federal promotion. Buy 2 PREMIUM medium or big game ammo boxes and get a Buck 110 Hunter. Excludes Varmint, 223 and 224 loads. Who can find the bargain Premiums?

I made it up to the WM with the Nikons. Expecting the hassle of them having to find it and this and that..... walk up to the display case... .there they are! marked $228. the manager on duty was manning the desk for another customer and I asked him to scan them. He does...pauses... eyes widen.... 'wow, you'll be happy, you're getting a deal' I said "$59?" He was all excited. asked the other associate that just walked up....'guess how much these are?' showing him the tag. Guy was wide eyed.
anyway, walked out with those. no weatherbys. checked the clearance aisles for any knives, none. Saw a gap gage marked down to $0.50, so picked up 2 to toss in the tool box. They rang up for $0.10 each! LOL I'm sure not the best gages, but hey....
they had federal powershock blue box ammo. I didn't pick any up, the WM around me has some i'll go get. Thanks for the rebate link
Just remember, 10 per household max. So find some family and neighbors to help out. And always check brickseek for stores around ya. Most are $11.97 but there were 2 stores that had em for $4.50. At that price theyre payin you to buy em. Good luck.

I have a pair of them and they work great. Try closing them down to narrow the eye socket distance. Wide open you can't see anything, Narrowed down they work great.
With them wide open to mimic the space between your ears, they'd make a great listening device if that is what they were designed for.
I will add that of all the gun stuff that I have bought over the past month at Walmart, only the two scopes were actually in the Sporting Goods Dept.. The remainder was stashed somewhere in the back and without the benefit of a couple helpful associates I would not have gotten the deals that I did.
I picked up some 8x42 Leupold bx-2 Acadia binoculars today for $49. They were hid in a drawer and 2 associates searched high and low before finding them stashed away.
I have to say that stores I have gone into to pick up deals had friendly people working there that found the items I that I was looking for. Infact when I asked the one clerk "do you have any other guns on clearance?" She responded with, "here is the list, we did an inventory yesterday, and I would really like to get them out of my hair." Apparently they did not get a chance to rotate them all into the cabinet on the sales floor and I made some of their job easier.....
I think a little politeness and being friendly goes a long way! I will also admit all of the stores I got great help in were in towns that were under 12,000 in population.....

I miss those days. I think the stores I went into recently have 12,000 people in them at any given time!!
Tag, I keep losing the SKUs. None around still here

Follow the links below..........also, type in your zip code to search your area's inventory. It will also show you prices and in stock status. Keep in mind when it says "quantity 0........limited stock"..........it means they have one rifle in stock. If there are none, it will say "out of stock". Hope that helps.

I tried the 410 ammo all was full price at register 3 diff Walmarts.
The deals r over lol
It's only $4.50 for the #4 shot. #6 and #71/2 are still $17.47. At least around here. I've bought about 60 boxes in the past week. I didn't know that Crook County IL which includes Sheetcago and surrounding slumburbs imposes a .05 PER round tax on ammo. .01 on rimfire. So a 500 round brick of .22 would have a save the children tax of $5. 200 round of centerfire and it'd be $10. Plus then they raipe you even further and charge you 10% sales tax on top of that. Still cheap for 75% off ammo. Didn't flinch at all when they told me about the tax when I told them I wanted all their Hi Brass #4-6 12 gauge. Their eyes exploded when it rang up at $3 dolla a box.
I had saved the brickseek inventory checker for the Vanguards, and thought I'd just check it again yesterday for the heck of it........when it shows a $249 243 in a Walmart about 15 miles away. I was driving down to pick up an order at Midsouth anyway, so I dropped in to look.
The manager of the sporting goods department said they'd been sold out for weeks, but he would look in the gun storage room anyway. He came back and said we don't have one, but when he checked inventory on the computer it showed one. Turns out it was sitting there in the gun rack all along.
Some guy in the classifieds selling a couple of syn vanguards for like 450 apiece.... Jackwagon......
My buddy up in Maine says the syn 0t6 with the monarch 3 I sold him for 400 Shoots .75" 3 shots with 168gr Barnes ttsx factory ammo off the bench. Best 16 dollars profit I ever made knowing that. Cost him 65 dollars to cover shipping and ffl both sides and his back ground check.
Well, since I took the contract gig overseas, I am not at home to be spending money on guns I don't need according to the wife. Just got the heck of it, I looked up the skews for Wal-Marts near my home in Alaska, nada. I live just a couple of miles from Wal-Mart, so I usually go the gun section once a week when I'm home. I don't think I've ever seen them mark down anything other than a Ruger Hawkeye that I almost bought, and then found something else I wanted more.

So I stopped in a store this morning and was talking to the department manager about the clearance guns and then heard this "crazy thing is they just shipped us another one on clearance this morning." I said I can save you the trouble of putting it on the shelf........ B)

LOL....I went a looking down in yer neck of the woods, and scored.
After a couple of shots to see if my bore sighting was on, my 30-06 synthetic Howaby shot just over an inch with 130 grain Accubond handloads and just under 2 inches with Federal powershok 150's......3 shot groups at 100 yards. I probably yanked one of the powershoks.
When I went to shoot, I could not find my sandbags so I had to use a makeshift rest made of boards and bath towels. Furthermore, it was hot as Dante's first layer of hell, I was sweating like a democrat in church, and my shooting glasses were wanting to fog up....plus it was me shooting.
Point being, I don't think the rifle itself will have much trouble backing up the MOA guarantee under decent conditions. I want to go out and shoot again when it cools off a little more, maybe try some 165's. But I am pretty sure the next round down the barrel is going to be heading for a briar goat.
I am going to wear out my allen set moving all the scopes around after buying a couple rifles an 7 new scopes. I figured this was as good of a time as any to get the good glass on the guns I really intend to use. Will probably burn through a good amount of ammo sighting everything in.
I put an old Weaver 3X9 on one of the Vanguard 243's, just to zero the scope. Shot some Remington factory 100 grains, and some of my 95 grain SST handloads. I was not overly impressed..........deer hunting accuracy, yeah..........but that was pretty much it. Of course, this was a new barrel, and just 2 loads, so that's not really fair to say it's not going to be an accurate rifle.
But, my last Howa rifle shot a half inch group at a 100 just as soon as the scope was zeroed, so I know that it's not the brand.

I really like the rifle.
Run a copper solid design design thru it. 165 -180 Bench that mofo till It is just your heart beat making the cross hair bounce Exhale and watch cross hair settle on target to natural point of aim Shoot at 2-3 second pause at bottom of exhale. It will tighten up.
At least ya can admit what was going on with your shooting. Many are too proud to look at obvious stuff.
