Has anyone ever done a trigger job on a Remington 870 Express Magnum?

If so, would you be willing to explain just how it's done, or refer me to the instructions on how to do it myself?

I could let someone else do it and spend the money but I'd rather keep my money and learn something along the way.

Thanks in advance.
That's the same trigger that's on the 1100's.
After looking at them, I decided to pass on doing them.
I just lived with them as is.

It is pretty much the same fire control utilized on all the semi autos and pump actions, That is why its called the "Common Fire Control". I would not mess with it.....

I been wanting to do the same for my Supermag. I use it to turkey hunt and would love a 3# trigger w/out creep. There is a spring that can be cut to reduce weight, but the creep is buried in there some where.
They do not work up well for the most part, partly because of thhe way thhey are designed.

Either Timney or Canjar builds a competition grade trigger group for them, but the price gave me a heart attack!!

Send Dave a message:

"David Munden" <[email protected]>

he specializes in Remington pump and auto triggers. For $30 he will reduce the pull to a real smooth 2.25-3lbs and reduce the creep to around 1/2 that of factory. I've read good reports of his service.

he also does a deluxe trigger job for these assemblies for $50 + $7 shipping where he machines the parts and gets rid of the creep and reduces the pull.

Good Luck

Thanks y'all.

I have a gunsmith that'll do the job for me, but I was wanting to save the money and try to learn something along the way.

Sounds like I just need to spend the money though, and save myself a possible headache.

Not to mention a possible AD...
Do this at your own risk, but after reading in the Big Bore Rifles book about a guy building either a Rem 760 or 7600 converted to either 338-06 or 35 Whelen, who cut either 1/2 or a full coil off the spring, I gambled and tried it. It reduced mine noticeably.

Unfortunately I don't have access to either the book or the gun at this time, but IIRC it pulls at around 4 lbs with some creep. Much easier to keep on target with slugs and has worked well for the last several OH deer seasons for me on my 870 Express Magnum.
Thanks, that is a good e-mail addy, I contacted him and will ship asap.

Great place here.
My local 'smith did mine for $25 IIRC. Now if I could just get close to a turkey
