I have filed too much metal out of the rear standing blade on a Husqvarna 46 in 8X57. This rifle likes the 196 gr. S & B load (first 2 shots touch at 50 yd.) but the POI is about one inch high. I have considered using JB weld to fill in the notch in the rear sight lower the POI. Any one have any practical experience with this, or some other, method of repairing a rear sight? Have looked for a replacement to no avail. Thanks for any suggestions. DH
To lower the POI you need to remove MORE from the rear sight.
You need to remove more from the top of the rear sight blade, if I'm following.
A taller front sight will lower the POI.
There is nothing wrong with being an inch high at 50 yards. Should be about two inches high at 100 yards.

Depending on where and what you are hunting, you shouldn't have to be concerned with distance out to about 250 yards or so.
