I hope this gun is worth the trouble if I ever get to shoot it. I bought what I believe is called a Husqvarna Hi Power Featherweight with rings and bases already installed. I went to remove the bases to clean it good and see the crest on the receiver. Not one but 2 screws were broke with the screw heads glued on to hide it. Why would someone tighten them so much, and after breaking the first one would you not ease up on the next one? Anyway, I finally got the screws out, cleaned up everything and reinstalled the bases. The scope wouldn't set in the rings right so I checked, the rear base is about an 1/8" higher than the front. What a pain. Anyway, anyone know what bases to use?

My S&W(Husqvarna)has Weaver bases. Front#46 Rear#55

And they are level.

It needs small ring Mauser bases. Pm me I just took a set of talleys off of one and a set of weavers off another. You're welcome too them. By far my favorite rifles!

The rifle that you have was built on what is generally referred to as an "HVA" action. Leupold, Redfield, and Weaver have all made bases for this action. IIRC, there is a detailed matrix of the bases that fit Husqvarnas over in the Swedish sporting/commercial rifles section at GUNBOARDS.

You might also consider contacting the resident expert on all things Husqvarna, "SBHVA", since he probably knows the part # for every make and style of base that fits Husqvarna rifls like the warts on the back of his hand.

By viewing your pics... It appears that you have bases for a standard FN Mauser (Large Ring) installed. Leupold makes a one piece base for that action. And, of course, the aforementioned Weaver bases. I have a couple of those HVA Lightweight rifles. I'm very fond of them.

Does the butt stock have a Monte Carlo comb with cheekpiece? I can't see it in the pictures. Is the barrel about 20.75" long?

It does have a Monte Carlo comb with cheekpiece. I'm not at home to measure the barrel but it is really short. I found an add in a 50's or 60's American Rifleman magazine that shows what looks like my rifle, they called it a featherweight I believe.

I would speculate that your rifle is either the M4000 or 4100 Lwt. I have two of them... Both stamped Smith & Wesson. I like them a lot!

Here's my S&W(Husqvarna). I was told it was a model 1600? I had to cut the bbl down due to a bulge but it was 22".

found the add, its called the lighweight. Looks like mine but without the monte carlo stock. Gun has nothing on it saying what the model is.

thanks to biathlonman I got the scope mounted. I put an old Denver Redfield on it.

That's a sharp looking little rifle. I've got a couple of the standard weight HVAs, but think I might have to try one of the lightweights.

That's an early model 4000 and it looks to be in great condition.

Is it common for Husqvarna to not put model numbers anywhere on their rifles?

Other than the Husqvarnas that S&W imported and had roll-stamped as their models A thru E, I don't think that any of my Husqvarnas had the model stamped anywhere on the rifle.

I have a .270 Tradewinds imported rifle that has Husky H-5000 on it and a JC Higgins that has the 51L on it.

Same as the one I am refinishing for Dad (30-naught6).

Having it installed, previous one was hard as a brick and Dad wanted a red one, along with the pre-64 stain.

Blair get to shoot your rifle yet? Finally got a couple of sets of Talley Ultralight rings. Threw on an old Leupold 6x on the .270 I just picked up. Took two shots to get it on the box at about 110 yards, next three rounds when about an inch with cheap Winchester Power Points, 150gr. All over my porch rail...load development done.

The term " Husky H-5000 " was actually trademarked and owned by Tradewinds, not Husqvarna. After Tradewinds and Husqvarna went their separate ways, Tradewinds sold a rifle made by Krico and also stamped it with Husky H-5000.

The 51-L is not considered a Husqvarna rifle. Husqvarna just sold the action to High Standard who did the barrel and stock work.

Mine is somewhat like that, same stock, 7mm Mag and is marked model 5000 on the barrel.

I have had it 10-15 years and have never shot it. I have lost the rings I bought for it o will have to order a new set next week. As I remember it, it had to use Redfield one_piece scope mount as it had two holes in the rear and one in the receiverring.

Mine has a dovetail block for rear sight, but no provision for a front sight.

After seeing as couple of posts here lately for comparable guns I have decided to get mind shooting and make a cast boolit gun out of it . . . IF it will shoot them.
