I picked up a 03 Smith Carona sporter tonight and tore it down. It has a Jaeger trigger and a google search got me pretty much nothing. Can someone give me a history lesson please? Thanks, Ken
It appears that the Jaeger trigger is a Timney with Jaeger stamped on it. It took awhile, but I found it. Ken
http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/3271314/1I have a custom Mauser 98 with Jaeger stamped on the trigger fingerpiece and Paul Jaeger Jenkintown Pa engraved on the barrel. The gunsmith who did some work on it told me Jaeger produced triggers, scope mounts and such as a sideline to his custom gun business. I wouldn't argue that it's not a re-marked Timney, it could be, as Jaeger and Timney both were active in the 40's 50's and 60's. Whoever made it, mine functions well and apparently always has.
