I have had "Redneck" do a variety of work for me in the past. I have only ONE complaint, that's he's not more local so I can go hang out with him to say thank you in person. He's great, does great work and does what he says he'll do.

I'm in western WI, 20 miles outside the Queens border..

Rifle is still like a champ. Though I've been hunting with my son so carrying my rifle has happened very few times this year. One day, I will be around and take you up on that offer.

Randy Gregory at accuracy unlimited in Medford WI shouldn't be too far from you. He does great work.

I'll throw in a second southern recommendation (AL) for Redneck. Great guy, great work.

But, location isn't critical, IMHO. Find the smith that does what you need done and use UPS. It's not that expensive. Locale doesn't dictate my choice of a smith. I pick the one that I think will do the best job, then ship the project.

There isn't anywhere in Wisconsin that's 5 hours from GB.

I'll second the vote for Randy Gregory. He is an excellent LR shooter at the national level and really knows how to put together an accurate rifle. His focus is precision competition rifles but the last time I was in his shop, there were a lot of hunting rifles being built and serviced.

BS - my GPS shows it to be 4 hrs, 35 mns. from here, and if the starting point was Superior - it'd be over 6 hours..

Just giving you crap, please don't take offense. BUT what kind of GPS do you have? Does it have a max speed of 35mph? Is it taking you through Fargo to get to GB? I live in Manitowoc (30 minutes SE of GB) and can get to Superior in just over 4 hours.

20 miles from the MN border. Gee, I can drive over from Minneapolis to have the safety fixed on my Model 70!!

Ya know, I was born and raised in Wisconsin and I'll garendamtee you that I'm more than 5 hours away from Baldwin.

I use USPS because I can't find a decent smith within a few hours drive from GB!
