My son has a CZ Scout and the rimfire was accidentally dropped when he unzipped s soft case. This caused the edge of the buttplate to break off and the wood around it to break off. The wood and plastic buttplate is about 1 inch knocked off. I have that wood piece and was wondering what kind of glue do I use to glue this piece back? Standard wood glue from Home Depot? And where can I by this plastic thingy that goes on the buttplate?

Since nobody else has responded, I'll try. I'm not sure what the plastic thing is, but I use epoxy for almost all such repairs. Done properly, the repair is almost invisible and the epoxy adhesive can be blended into most finishes. It takes a bit of know-how to use epoxy. One thing is that it has no "grab", so the pieces must be firmly clamped in position. Also, epoxy will stick hard to just about everything, so anything it might get onto needs to be masked or protected with wax. I use Johnson's Paste Wax, but even shoe polish works. Use a good epoxy, not the 5 minute crap. As a rule of thumb, the longer it takes to set up and cure, the stronger it will be.

I couldn't live my life without epoxy. Just ask my wife.

Paul,

I finally got all of these malware stuff off my computer and no more of those hundreds of popups when I do anything on the computer. Had a guy come here and clean out my computer. For sure Windows 8 Defender AntiVirus is a bunch of crap to have as your AV.

Back to my original post, thanks for your idea. I will have to look for epoxy from Lowes or HD and try that. But I really need to glue the wood that broke off as the part is on the bottom of the butt stock and without the plastic butt plate the wood will get beat up so much that when you glue the wood back on the contour of the broken piece will be obvious.
