In a volume production situation are the stocks bedded to each individual action or to a dummy? I can't imagine that a company the size of Kimber and certainly not Remington or Winchester bed each stock to a particular action. Maybe Forbes or Cooper but not the big guys. Anybody know for sure?
Most are just inletted to closely match the footprint of the action. Winchester used a hot glue type of substance to call bedding for a while.

The last Kimber I had here was done with what looked like they put a blob of goo in the bottom and lug area and screwed the action down. Was not impressed but then I think it was better than nothing.

And Browning still does (the BACO Winnies) but it's a bit more rubbery in texture..

But still basically worthless..
