I ordered one of those universal buttplates from TripleK. It was on backorder for 3 months from Midway. It finally showed up. I'd wanted a straight one, and it came in curved. I was flexing it to see how much it would bend.

You guessed it-- snapped it.

Questions:
1) Any idea what I could use to glue to the two pieces back together?
2) Any idea of how to get the curve out?

This is going on my own deer rifle, and I figure by the time its sanded and fitted, the crack is not going to show.

Round file it and start over.

#1) It will look like [bleep]
#2) You can't
#3) Round file and start over.

Stick it in the oven for a couple of minutes. Hell, it's already broke in half.

Yep. Before I gave up, I tried heating the edges to see if they'd bond. Nope. Then I tried the scraps to see if heat would make the material pliable. Nope.

Roundfile. However, the experiments were worth something. Whatever that polymer material is, it is not going to work for me.

I have two custom Mausers, one nice, one not so. They came to me with recoil pads. I'm trying to replace them with buttplates to shorten the LOP. They work fine in the summer T-Shirt weather, but late season with 3 extra layers makes it not so fine.

Shorten the stock and fit the old pads back on. Unless the pads will no longer work because of steel plate or screw problems.

Flip-flop pads add marginally to the LOP. Cost almost nothing, simple to install and available at ChinaMart everyday. I usually get 4 pads per pair.
