Anyone tried to do this finish? I'm thinking about it for the kids tube, but I'm not sure exactly where to start. I'm thinking a small da with 180 but the lathe speed is purely a guess.

Any success or failure input greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Perusing the custom rifle blueprints thread came across this with reference of orbital sander and low speed lathe. Maybe that's a swizzledick?

That's the finish I'm after, but I've been trying to dupe it with my da, mini da, mini disc....so far, no bueno.

roll it on a table using a jitterbug sander, Russ

Dan Dowling is the one who started that finish, have shared more than one Bombay dirty martini's with the Leprechaun.

So I'm doing this with a da and I just need a 1/4 sheet electric sander? Thanks a bunch.

yes I use 1/3 sheet though. Lathe not needed just a flat surface to roll on as you push the sander down on top
