I'd like hex head action screws for my Mohawk (M-600).

I can't find any.

Are those being made?

For the front screw I turned down a 5/16" button head capscrew to the 1/4" and retheaded it for the front screw (needed to be 5/16" to get a head big enough to look proper in the bottom metal/plastic)

And I used a Model 7 rear screw for the rear screw

No, you will have to make your own.

I don't have the equipment.

Will have to find someone who can and will make me a set.

I have hex head screws for my 600. Be careful what you ask for. If you need to take your 600 down in the field due to say a bullet slipping out of the case due to lack of proper seating (Hmmm) and binding up the feed... It's a bitch to clear if you don't have an Allen wrench along

I like the hex heads for torqueing and they don't get messed up.

I wish I could remember. I got them in about 1979, I think.
I suppose you checked brownells.

I'll do some looking around. I know I didn't make them. I looked in my drawer of Remington parts - mostly 700 parts.

If I find them on line, I'll let you know.

Yeah, Brownells doesn't list them. I guess I could call and talk to a tech.

I looked at a few WEB sites. The standard screws are available at Numerich and E-bay. Many places selling Steal bottom metal.

I replaced the bottom plastic with metal and installed a Kevlar stock and an aftermarket high end barrel on mine. I also had an extra bolt, but my brother-in-law screwed that up. He had a gunsmith put a 700 bolt handle on it. Ouch, that really hurt. I called the gunsmith, he threw away the 600 handle. Now, I've lost the extra bolt.

That rifle is very picky in loads. I've tried over 30 loads. Some shot pie plate accuracy. Factory 200 grain at 4 MOA. I have several boxes of 200 grain loads I could let go. I also have several boxes of factory 250 grain loads, which I have not tried.

The most accurate load used H4895 and either Speer 250 grain or Interock 250 grain - .7" MOA. Using 748 was nearly as accurate .8-.9 MOA, 5 shot groups.

I tried virtually every 35 caliber 250 grain and several lighter bullets. I even tried custom bullets. One custom bullet would most of the time hit a pie plate at 100 yards.

I'm trying to remember where the factory screws with really wide cuts for screw drivers? I don't remember. I had maybe 5 or 6 model 660's. Most were 308's, one was 6mm. Other people wanted those and gave me model 700 prices for them. I also put a 22-250 heavy barrel on a 600 action.

I had to make my own screws when I put the aluminum bottom metal on as the original was now too short. I looked for a long time but since the 600 hasn't been made in 50 years you will find that they are no longer supported like the 700 is.
